USA (MNN) — Early on Sunday, a gunman opened fire on a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida killing 50 people and injuring 53 others. This is the deadliest mass shooting in United States history. The gunman, Omar Mateen, called 911 before the shooting and declared allegiance to ISIS. Since then, ISIS has claimed responsibility for the massacre. As the United States mourns this severe tragedy, Greg Jao with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship shares how the Church can respond. “One thing I think we can do is communicate to the

LGBTQ community that we stand with you in this time of fear. That we, without question, denounce acts of violence or hatred directed towards them.”

In extremist ideology, the response to those they disagree with is violence. (Photo courtesy Hence the executions of moderate Muslims in Iraq, Flickr/CC/BradRuggles) the burning of Christian However, Christians believe as Genesis 1:26 illustrates, all of mankind are image-bearers of God. Because of this, Jao says one can hold to faith convictions or disagree with someone while (Photo courtesy: maintaining a genuine of Tony Webster via Flickr) spirit of love and humility towards that person. BRUISED APPLES By Louise Alleva In my last article, I shared examples of spiritual bruises. In a counseling setting, I refer to them as snares. Scriptures defines them as strongholds or fortresses as in 2nd. Corinthians 10:4, 5. No matter what the definition, the result of wounds, hurt, neglect, abandonment, bitterness, etc. are the same. Just like the bruises on an apple, they affect us emotionally and physically and of hinder our walk with God. We can also bruise others around us. The books we read, movies or TV shows we watch the superstitions we follow or addictions we have or had are some examples of doors we open and continue to allow them hinder us from a life of freedom and those we influence. Besides these bruises, we also deal with emotional wounds. Emotional wounding comes in many areas of our lives beginning as early as childhood that comes from the pain inflicted on us. The things we do or read later in life are a result of this pain. This kind of pain causes

negative feelings such as, unforgiveness, false judgements, bitterness, a critical tongue, depression, low self-esteem, loneliness, fear to name a few. First, though, I want to address the one negative emotion that is so strong it influences our inability to recognize the other ones. Psalm 139:23-24 offers a clue. “Search me, O God and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” Many of us are deeply hurt emotionally and we may not realize how wounded we really are. Dear reader, the first step in the process of healing our wounded heart is to be honest with ourselves. There are a number of reasons we have trouble with being objective about our own hurts. Sometimes we think the negative emotions we are experiencing is “just the way life is,” or we blame others for the way we feel about ourselves. We may feel that being lonely, hurt, or angry is a way it is, or as Chris

tians, we think we should not have any problems because we believe Christians should not have these feelings or situations. What we end up doing is build a very strong wall of protection (fortress, stronghold) around our hearts to protect ourselves and block out pain. Then we begin to suppress the emotions of hurt and start striving for perfection, driven to succeed, or strive too hard to gain appreciation. These are just some of the signs of a hurt person. There are too many examples to share without personally ministering to someone, but I want to give you notice. We are all bruised people. I hope that we can come to that realization. That is the key. A scripture that helped me was Psalm 51:6. “Surely you desire truth in the inner parts; you teach me wisdom in the inmost place.” I realized how wounded I was several years ago in my early stages of becoming a minister of the wounded heart. I tell folks I was “called” to this kind of ministry and the counseling ministry

A QUEST FOR NEW STRENGTH by Christina Cook Lee Matthew 5:44-45a (NKJV) But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven… When someone has deeply offended you, or when you live in an offensive relationship—finding relief from words or actions that caused the pain can be hard. If the battle is ongoing, you may barely have time to catch your breath before you’re faced with another reason to be bitter… If it was just once, it would be bad enough—but our minds have that awful tendency to instantly ‘replay’ hurtful moments over and over. You wish there was a way to just hit the ‘stop’ button—you can’t help feeling like you’re trapped.

In the act of replaying an event in your mind, you imagine things you might have done or said—if you had the chance to. Every time you replay the scene—the feelings all come flooding back. The more painful the episode, the more times you seem to play it back. You don’t really mean to keep going back there, but you do.

day ‘out there in video land’, replaying events in your mind that you can’t relive in reality. A painful experience has a way of always being in the back of your mind. after realizing how much I benefited from it. I did not have a clue that I was so “hurt” or bruised until someone ministered to me. During that time of healing, I experienced a true revelation that Jesus loved me enough to want me to be free to love Him back. The Lord desires truth and honesty from us. He wants us to be willing to experience His love, forgiveness, and power in all areas of our life. That journey of emotional healing may not be easy but you will begin have honest feelings instead of denial. You will also realize the hope of joy and victory. You can then learn to be honest with yourself, receive honest forgiveness, live a life of honest emotions, and learn to show real love and receive real love by an honest God.

I commit to praying instead of replaying. When I find myself caught up in my imagination—reliving painful events–I will pray a blessing on the one who hurt me because I am Your child—and it’s what You would want me to do. Muslim Burns 9-YearOld Son for Accepting Christ By Michael Ireland

UGANDA (ANS - June, 2016) - Morning Star News (www.morningstarnews.org) reports the Muslim father of a 9 year old boy in eastern Uganda, who put his faith in Christ this month, tied his son to a tree and burned him.

According to the Morning Star News East Africa Correspondent, sources said Nassif Malagara of the Kakira Parish area, Kisozi Sub-County, Kamuli District decided to become a Christian after a neighbor took him to visit a church in another village, undisclosed for security reasons, on June 5. “At the end of the service, Nassif remained behind and then followed me to the church’s pastry room and requested that he wanted to receive Jesus as his personal savior,” the pastor of the church told

Dear Reverend:

Recently, a Christian brother said, “His ways are higher than your ways.” Now, that’s hesalivenews@yahoo.com a nice pat answer to my dilemma of not having enough money to pay my creditors off! Was he being smug? I need real answers to why I have such a lack of power when it www.ficcwordchurch.org comes to believing the things I hear in church. plan for us, and that His thoughts are higher than ours!

The Word of God says in John 16:24, “Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete.” Personally, I have been asking God for things for a long time. I have a clear knowledge that it is the Master, it is Jesus, who has such knowledge of the mightiness of the power of the Father and of the joint union with Him, that nothing is impossible for you to ask. Begin to believe on extravagant asking, believing that God is pleased when you ask large things. It is nothing but yourself that will hinder you, and it may be today that God will transform you and make you a different person altogether! Get rid of your human mind, your human measure, your own strength, and let inspiration take charge of you, and bring you out of yourself and into the power of God. Like the morning sun, you will break forth into this knowledge, to an exceeding reward of blessing. If you are a born again believer, you belong to a higher order, a divine order, a spiritual order. Believe that God wants you to soar today! NOTHING is impossible in Christ Jesus! Luke 1:37. This is God’s Truth! Rev.
