Knowing the Will of God 7-22-18
Amos 4:13 For, lo, he that formeth the mountains, and createth the wind, and declareth unto man what is his thought, that maketh the morning darkness, and treadeth upon the high places of the earth, The LORD, The God of hosts, is his name. God wants you to know His will so you can do it Ps 139:17 How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them! Ps 139:18 If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee. God has a plan for His people, and you are included He wants you to know that plan, or His will so you can fulfill it 1Cor 2:16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ. Faith can only come when the Will of God is known If you are not certain it is the Will of God, you will not have faith for it Rom 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Pay attention to the “I Will’s” of God in Scripture Matt 16:13 When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? Matt 16:14 And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. Matt 16:15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? Matt 16:16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
Matt 16:17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. Matt 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. Matt 16:19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Here we see the will of God revealed in two areas 1. I will build my church 2. I will give you keys of the kingdom In the first, Jesus reveals His will to build His church through a personal knowledge of who He actually is, revealed in the spirit by Father-God In the second, Jesus reveals His will to place authority in the hands of this church He just revealed He will build‌authority not weakness! So we see it is God’s will to build His church, thus Evangelism is the will of God Reconciling people to the Lord is the will of God 2Cor 5:18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; 2Cor 5:19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. We further see that the church has been equipped with authority, keys, to accomplish His will Luke 10:19 Behold, I give unto you power (authority) to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Luke 10:20 Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven. The point is not the authority, but the salvation of souls through authority given
Matt 4:19 And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. The will of God is to fish for men, win souls, Another tool He has given us is healing Matt 8:1 When he was come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him. Matt 8:2 And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. Matt 8:3 And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. It is the will of God to heal Matt 8:5 And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him, Matt 8:6 And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented. Matt 8:7 And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him. Note the “I will as the will of God revealed and stated very plainly Matt 9:10 And it came to pass, as Jesus sat at meat in the house, behold, many publicans and sinners came and sat down with him and his disciples. Matt 9:11 And when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto his disciples, Why eateth your Master with publicans and sinners? Matt 9:12 But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick. Matt 9:13 But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. The will of God is mercy as a call to the lost to come to Him We must learn the will of God and do it, Stay in it, temptation will try to lure us away, stay your ground in faith
Matt 12:7 But if ye had known what this meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, ye would not have condemned the guiltless. Mercy triumphs over religion Jas 2:13 For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment. This is the will of God and a great tool for soul winning Matt 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Matt 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. Matt 11:30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Rest is the will of God, No more condemnation, No more burden Free in Jesus, casting my cares on Him 1Pet 5:7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. The will of God is to accept all who come to Him John 6:37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. John 6:38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me. John 6:39 And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. John 6:40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day. You will not be rejected no matter how depraved you have been It is the will of God for you to be empowered with the Holy Ghost John 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
Gods will is for you to be comforted John 14:13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. John 14:14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. The will of God is to answer your prayers Matt 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Matt 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? Matt 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Matt 7:24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: Matt 7:25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. Matt 7:26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: Matt 7:27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it. You see the importance of knowing and doing the will of God This is not an exhaustive study on this, merely touching the surface, but in hopes you will get the idea and search for yourself to know the will of our God and do it
