Rehabilitation

Client: Suez Canal Authority

The Rehabilitation of

Suez Canal Headquarters Building

in Portsaid

Role: Site Survey,Architectural Survey, Inspection and Analysis, Technical Drawings Needed for the Rehabilitation and R ‎ estoration of the Existing Building.

Architectural Description:

Ground Floor Plan

The architectural masterpiece is influenced by an Islamic architectural style which is evident from the three green domes topping the building and the interior decoration of the ceilings, walls, windows and chandeliers which adorns the building from the inside.

The building is symmetrical on the east west axis which was influenced from the urban planning of Portsaid and Portfoaud cities. Its C-shaped figure was formed from the court on the western part of the building in which the main entrances is located. On the southern part of this court, a copper benchmark is located on the ground floor which is used to mark the water level and depth of the canal

Main Elevation

First Floor Plan The building’s main elevation measures about 80 m long. While the Northern and Southern elevations measures about 30 m long overlooking the Suez canal. The building comprises of two stories and basement level. All walls are 40 cm thick except the walls in the center of the building carrying the domes are 50 cm thick.

Side Elevations

Domes There are three domes topping the Suez Canal headquarters building with diameter of 7.5m. The central dome seems bigger than the other two domes because it has a bigger base and a lantern placed on top of it. This lantern was said to give signals to help the movement of ships in the canal. In addition, the Egyptian flag was placed on top on the lantern.

NBE is the oldest commercial bank in Egypt. It was established on June 25, 1898 with a capital of £ 1 million. It is expanding since then by constructing many branches all over the different governorates of Egypt. Usually the branches rent two-three floors off an existing building.

ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN COMPETITION

ELITE REVERIE

RESIDENTIAL UNITS PROTOTYPES

IN PAKISTAN

Role: Design and Architectural Visualization.

Townhouses:

The attached town houses are composed of three buildings. The central town house is having an inner courtyard to provide a breathing heart for the house with a unique tree in. It brings a day light to the whole house as well as fresh air in summer and warmth in winter. Placing the kitchen at the back yard will help facilitate family dining out side whenever possible and help concept the busiest part of the house to nature. The top floor provides a much needed third bedroom with a large external planted terrace. The right and left houses are similar in design to the twin villas. A slight twist at the external screen materials and colors as well other finishes will emphasize the distinguished identity of each house.

Ground Floor Plan

2 kanal villa: The opening of the courtyard to embrace the main garden is thought of not only to be a horizontal act but it impacts the vertical organization of the villa as well. The main staircase is connecting the main ground floor to the one and half meter elevated living room creating a space underneath that can use either existing topography or created a sub level that can be used as sunken covered seating area.

2 kanal villa: The multi levels of the villa offer better scaled volume and hence opportunities for internal and external use and forms. The inclination of the volume which has the living room, play room and bedroom can vary from a site to another in relation to environmental conditions.

8 kanal villa: This luxurious mansion is designed to create a large home. The scaling of the over all building to form a sense more related to pixelated rooms is aimed at further creating a human and decent feeling. The extensive width of the villa was dealt with through creating tow atriums which will help in passively controlling the indoor environment.

8 kanal villa: For further convenience of the house users a second entry and stair is proposed for the the family quarter. The main reception is designed to be in part double heights which will creat an impact on those visiting and enjoying the room. Main entry of the mansion is envisaged through a fore court to create a specially welcoming space.

WORKSPACE BUILDING

IN DAMMAM

Role: Design and Architectural Visualization.

Co-working space: Is an important trend and concept for working spaces that is mainly targeting start-ups. It is important that office space environments allows for such spaces even in a limited space.

Screen: The idea is mainly using inexpensive material which GRC to produce a special design inspired by the natural honey comb ( such as the one shown) to effectively control natural light and give a unique image for the building in using affordable and inexpensive material as the main investment in this case is the special design.

Looking At The Atrium

Ground Floor Plan Ground floor is the entry floor for both individuals and Cars. An entry plaza is created as a decent and professional welcome note. The Four height interior space is an assertion of the quality of the building and spaces within.

Looking At The Entrance

Mezzanine Floor Plan: This floor plan is dedicated for waiting and informal meetings and break sitting. This type of informal areas are essential for office spaces. In addition it help transform the main entrance of the office building into a hotel like arrangement which is a plus for this place.

Typical Plan: The Office space is designed to be flexible. It can be rented as different spaces or as a whole floor or as the whole buildings. In any of this cases, the Atrium within the building will help create a healthy and vibrant environment.

PATH CORRECTION

My Design Hub Is A Path Correction For Local Industries And A Starting Point For The Rise Of The Egyptian Industry.

SITE AND LOCATION : AL- BASOUSE

AL- BASOUSE

is an informal area belonging to the city Qanater-Qalyoubia. Unlike the other informal areas in Egypt, it has a potential for development. This feature is that it has an industrial base and huge economic base from small shops. These Shops have no license or no quality certificate for the products they produce. Therefore, all products are produced with very poor quality.

PROJECT VISION :

HOW CAN WE CHANGE THIS ?

The main idea of the project is to make a path correction for industries at EL-BASOUS and also try to improve the service for the community so the project dived into tow main functions 1- INDUSTRIES DEVELPOEMNT. 2- COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT.
