Hirdaramani Industries (Pvt) Ltd. Kahathuduwa receives LEED Platinum Certification As a part of Hirdaramani Group’s overall sustainability program which is being implemented across all group factories, Kahathuduwa is the first factory to achieve LEED Platinum Certification; this was an existing factory that was converted to a Green Factory. LEED, or Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design, is a green building certification program that recognizes best-in-class building strategies and practices. To receive LEED certification, building projects satisfy prerequisites and earn points to achieve different levels of certification. Kahathuduwa factory performed exceptionally well in terms of biodiversity factors such as green spaces and medicine garden, and also by replacing production area lamps to LED, the factory demonstrated significant mercury reduction in lamps. The factory scored 100 % for water efficiency for using non potable water for gardening and saving 50%+ water through efficient water fixtures. Hirdaramani continues to lead the way in the adoption of sustainable manufacturing with its on-going commitment to changing the way they operate. This “Sustainability Policy” was developed as a guideline to be followed by each of the Group’s 20 plus facilities across Sri Lanka in their effort to become a greener manufacturer. Commenting on the achievement, Aroon Hirdaramani, Director of Hiradramani Group stated, “We are very proud of the team for their hard work dedication.
