Broken arch pediment with turned urn finials, turned bull's eye rosettes, serpentine side lights, cove-molded waist, lip molded pendulum door, fluted quarter columns. oval sunken panel base with beaded chamfered corners, molded trim with French bracket feet. 8-day movement with painted dial, moon phase with sweep second hand. Jacob Hostetter b. 1754, d. 1831. A pioneer clockmaker of York County, PA. He produced his first clock in 1798 after learning the trade from Richard Chester, the first clockmaker in Hanover. Jacob Hostetter was also a politician, member of the state legislature and a member of congress (1818-1821). In 1825 he moved to Ohio and set up a clock making business with his son in the colony around
