Jacob Hostetter b. 1754, d. 1831. A pioneer clockmaker of York County, PA. He produced his first clock in 1798 after learning the trade from Richard Chester, the first clockmaker in Hanover. Jacob Hostetter was also a politician, member of the state legislature and a member of congress (1818-1821). In 1825 he moved to Ohio and set up a clock making business with his son in the colony around
