Il bello di produrre imbottiti è che ancora oggi, nel terzo millennio, chi cerca la qualità non può prescindere dall’artigianalità. La vera pelle, ad esempio, è il materiale “imperfetto” per eccellenza, per cui va accuratamente scelto, toccato, scrutato, pezzo per pezzo, dall’uomo. E poi tagliato. A mano. E cucito.

one by one, by experienced craftsmen. And then cut. By hand. Then stitched. By hand. The creation of a sofa is perhaps the modern activity which most closely resembles that of a master tailor. And one in which scissors and the sewing machine are light years ahead of any microprocessor.

Alle origini della moderna disciplina del design (da Thonet a Aalto, da Rietveld al Bahuaus) non c’è il concetto di piacevolezza estetica, ma quello di buona forma legata alla funzione.
