2.5.3Checking colour indicator of battery A

WARNING

Danger of explosion when checking and charging battery or when using it for jump starting.

– Do not test or charge batteries whose “ALI (Acid Level In‐dicator)” is colourless/light yellow. Do not slave/jump start the vehicle.

Note

The colour indicator shows the electrolyte level in the battery.

Note

Since the colour indicator is only located in one battery cell, the indicator also only applies to this battery cell. Under normal circumstances, the result of the colour indicator check is repre‐sentative of all six cells of the battery. Thus, the battery does not need to be removed. The colour indicator check cannot be replaced by the check conducted with the vehicle diagnostic tester.

–Before the visual inspection, tap the “ALI (Acid Level Indica‐tor” lightly and carefully using the handle of a screwdriver. The air bubbles, which can influence the display, will dissi‐pate when doing this. The colour display of the “ALI (Acid Level Indicator)” will now be more accurate.

During manual adjustment, it may happen that not all contours of the head-up display test screen can be positioned well on the setting device -VAS 6430-. This is due to the tolerances in the head-up display system and the resulting distortion. In this case, mainly the elements in the middle of the image area should be brought into the best possible alignment. Deviations for elements in the outer image area are allowed.

–Use setting device -VAS 6430- -A-, to bring test screen -1into the best possible alignment using adjuster screws -3- on control unit for head-up display -2-.
