By Scott Richardson, The Educated Palate It’s been a long 10 weeks since the first of the food and wine events (Baldwin Park Food and Wine Festival) took place. Since that first event until now, I have participated in 10 food and wine gettogethers around the area. I truly love being a part of all of these events because in some way they all benefit those in need in Central Florida. However, I consider the season finale of all food and wine extravaganzas to be the Chef’s Gala inside the beautiful Epcot World Showplace.

For the past 6 years, I have had the pleasure of experiencing the Chef’s Gala that benefits the Heart of Florida United Way. Last year’s event raised

almost $220,000 for those in need right here in Central Florida. Twenty restaurants from outside Disney and inside the parks participate in creating exquisite dishes to taste. There are also desserts and wines as you walk around the Epcot world Showcase. Prior to the event there is a silent auction and sparkling wine. I was able to taste a few of the dishes for the Chef’s Gala at a media reception held at the J.W. Marriott. Two of my favorites were the arugula malfatti with fava beans by Siro (Marriott World Center) and a deliciously tender braised Wagyu short rib with faro by Primo (Melissa Kelly).
