Heart of Florida United Way
Founded in 1939, HFUW is Central Florida ’s largest charitable organization. In 2007-08 it managed nearly $24 million dollars in total resources, including $17,757,000 raised during the annual campaign that helps fund nearly 200 local health and human service programs. It also operates the United Way 2-1-1 & Elder Helpline, the United Way Volunteer Resource Center, the Gifts in Kind Center, the Ryan White Part B/General Revenue Program and the Stewardship program. In 2008, HFUW adopted a bold new strategic direction focused on prevention. Known as Investing in Results, the initiative is guiding United Way’s work to move the needle in four critical impact areas: Developing Healthy Children and Families Building Safe Communities Increasing Financial Stability Alleviating Hunger and Homelessness
