Enterprise Furniture Catalog DESIGN PRODUCT STRATEGY Firm: WeWork Current Phase: Implemented Role: Senior Strategy Product Manager (Initiative Leader) WeWork has an extensive furniture assortment useful as a tool to adapt workplace environments for custom clients needs without demo/construction needed. Given the extensive nature of furniture how could it be succinctly messaged in a way that allows potential clients to make selections on their own.

How to organize and position furniture offering to facilitate client selection and purchases?

The intent of this effort reorganizes and positions furniture as bundles and a la carte. Through this organizational system, clients can make selections from a pre-curated groups of furniture and compliment their needs through the a la carte section.

How to curate furniture and display in a digestivible way for a non-expert audience?

A recently renovated pre-war building serves as the backdrop for Rent The Runway’s HQ space. For a company with a strong brand identity, there was a great opportunity to create a synergy between their culture, aesthetic and innovative workplace recommendations. Through their hypergrowth mode the intent was to establish enough flexibility in their space for a variety of team sizes and needs. In addition, retail specific spaces were created to align with their daily work-styles.

Chase - Soho Retail Branch RETAIL | NYC, NY, USA Company: WEWORK, Powered by We Experience: CD & CA Current Phase: Completed Role: Design Manager This project consists of a 3500 SF bank retail branch in New York. The ethos of the design is centered on redefining the concept of banking - breaking away from the traditionally closed-off and impersonal banking journey and changing it for a more humane, and inviting user experience - pushing transparency and openness both physically and conceptually. The floor plan ensures the user trajectory is both private during long transactions and public for short-term visits. To humanize the deisgn, airy and natural materials are selected and complimented with pops of color that align to the bank’s branding identity.

Key Plan

This intimate office space of approximately 10,000SF was set in place for Softbank’s government affairs team in mind. Overlooking the White House and the Washington monument, the project’s prime location allows the host ing of government officials groups. As such, the floor plan provides views out and privacy for sensitive gatherings. Softbank’s Japanese origin plays a key role in the ethos of this space. Japanese elements of natural materials, clean lines and airy atmosphere mix with pops of color to create a pleasant but interesting office environment. 1

The design for Toast’s headquarters looks at the concept of work meeting hospitality to solve the needs of a company looking to attract the best tech talent and impress its restaurant clientele. The design pushes hospitality to the foreground by infusing quintessential aspects of coffee houses, pubs and restaurant to standard workplace programming such as reception, conference room and private offices. The material selection is expressive and honest mixed with wood treatments and concrete floors to create rich atmospheres.

Humana - Waterside Offices WORKPLACE INTERIORS | Louisville, KY, USA Company: WEWORK, Powered by We Project Size: 110,000 USF Experience: Concept Design Current Phase: On Hold Role: Senior Architecture Lead/Design Manager Our intervention on Humana’s Waterside building targets levels 11 and 12 totalling an area of +/-108,000SF. The existing double height atria and skylights present a great opportunity to vertically connect the levels through a stepped seating design. Acting as central spaces, these “courtyards” are programmed according to their use; as one targets the arrival the other captures employee gathering activities. A destination lounge is located on the 12 floor focused on views to the Ohio river as backdrop. To maximize the use of daylight, all workstations are located at the perimeter of the floors and are organized in clusters to give the associates a sense of belonging to a dedicated neighborhood. The second level becomes the main access Insights Summary floor and collaborating center for multidisciplinary teams to work on special projects. All gathering and lounge areas surround the exterior courtyard and sit strategically beneath existing skylights to maximize daylight. The third floor houses Humana’s Digital Center of Excellence team providing open workstations, meeting and breakout spaces. Vancouver House - Exterior MIXED USE DEVELOPMENT | Vancouver, Canada Firm: BIG Architects Experience: SD, DD, CD & CA Current Phase: Completed Role: Architect Vancouver House will be part of a new phase in city’s short but successful history of urban policy. It will mark the entry point to downtown Vancouver from Granville Bridge, forming a Gateway to the city. The tower and base are a reinvention of the local typology, known as “Vancouverism.” In this typology, slender tower are coupled with mixed-use podiums and street walls that define human-scale urban environments. The aim is to preserve view cones through the city while activating the pedestrian’s street. Negotiating a difficult site trisected by the Granville overpass and burdened by setbacks, the design for Vancouver House seeks to optimize the conditions for its future inhabitants - in the air as well as on the streets. 1. Vancouver House - Interiors MIXED USE DEVELOPMENT | Vancouver, Canada Firm: BIG Architects Experience: SD, DD, CD & CA Current Phase: Completed Role: Architect The interiors for Vancouver House take cues from the tower’s envelope. The cool, gray tones of the aluminum panels are coupled with a copper color material that act as liners at balcony walls on the east, west and south sides of the tower. This juxtaposition between cool and warm creates depth and personality that infiltrates the interior and becomes integral to the narrative of the project. The tower lobby is presented as a gallery space showcasing a stair, reception desk and mailboxes as self standing sculptures materialized in blackened steel.

970 Market St. MIXED USE DEVELOPMENT | San Francisco,CA Firm: BIG Architects Experience: Concept Design and SD Current Phase: N/A Role: Architect Situated prominently on Market Street at the meeting point of four different neighborhoods, 970 Market Street stiches different communities together and serves as the first step towards a new performing arts district in the Mid-Market area of San Francisco. Driven by the programmatic need for individual identities and a response to the site and shadow envelope, the massing of 970 Market Street is split into two individual program volumes, one hotel and one residential, which are connected by a collection of performing arts programs at the base. Inside, a sky-lit atrium creates an opportunity for synergy between the different programs.

University of Chicago Residential Commons DORMITORY & RESIDENCE HALL | Chicago, IL Firm: BIG Architects Experience: Design Build Competition Current Phase: N/A Role: Architect The site for the new North Campus Residence Hall and Dining Commons offers a unique opportunity to create gateways to the campus that strengthen the connectivity between local community and the university while providing a new identity to the north edge of the campus. The design proposes to build two interlocking volumes; one for each Community within the Residence Hall. The interlocking volumes naturally define two inner private courtyards for each residence Community and two public open spaces of different scales, characters and functions.

Modularity Overhead AQUATIC CENTER & SPA | Lady Bird Lake, Austin, TX Studio: Design VI; Spring 2010 Critic: Danelle Briscoe Software Used: Rhino, Vray, AutoCAD, and Adobe Creative Suite The synergy of conceptual and pragmatic components as a design challenge results in the creation of fluid modular patterns that allow light and passive ventilation into the 21st century aquatic center. The premise of this project is the creation of an aquatic center in the Town Lake area of Austin. From a pattern investigation the creation of a modular system in a particular element of the building led the primary concept of the overall project. As the structure and layout of the project developed, the insertion of a passive ventilation system is added as another layer of function to the roof modules. As well, based on the sun angles in Austin, the modules are oriented northward in order to only allow ambient light into the building. Thus, the overall interior condition of the complex is highlighted by repetitive punctures that give the building the character and personality desired.

Subtractive Trajectories PUBLIC PLAZA/METRO ENTRANCE, DANCE STUDIO & DOJO | Paris, France Studio: Advanced Design: Paris Studio; Fall 2011 Critics: Danilo Udovicky, John Blood, Elizabeth Danze In Collaboration with: Julie Huynh Software Used: Rhino, Vray, AutoCAD, and Adobe Creative Suite In transitory spaces, users often pass through barren areas, neglecting to acknowledge the potential of their trajectories. The paths people choose become the basis of their experiences. Such an idea may be conceptually applied to the intervention in the space encompassing the Stalingrad metro station; hurried Parisians constantly flow in and out through underground access points, but rarely is there a reason to pause. By mapping these trajectories, bounded shapes become program and leftover voids become designated paths. The interwoven system of connected pathways intends to accentuate the goal of the individual, and linear courses emphasize its strict, direct routes.
