HALF HOLLOW HILLS SUMMER PROGRAM 2016 Driver Education Summer Program July 19, 2016 – August 18, 2016 To enroll, students must be 16 years old and possess a valid New York State Learner’s permit or Junior License prior to Friday, July 6, 2016. This program is open to incoming seniors and juniors only. **There will be a mandatory parent/student meeting on Tuesday, July 12, 2016, from 6:00 p.m. 8:00 p.m. in the High School East Lecture Hall. Lecture and driving times will be assigned at this meeting. Registration is based on student’s birth order only. Any outside conflicts are the student’s responsibility to resolve, and not that of the Drivers Education program.**

Dates This course will run from Tuesday, July 19, 2016, and runs until Monday, August 15, 2016. Classes meet each day, Monday – Thursday, for three (3) hours a day. Please check all dates listed in this application before signing up for the program.

Cost The cost of this program is $500.00. Payment in full is required with the completed application no later than July 6, 2016. Credit cards, personal checks and cash will not be accepted. Only money orders will be accepted and should be made to: HALF HOLLOW HILLS CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT. No refunds will be issued once classes begin on July 19, 2016.

Lecture Classes All lecture classes are ninety (90) minutes long each day of class. Absences and lateness are not permitted. Homework and other assignments are part of the student’s responsibility. Students must maintain a passing average on all tests and quizzes. An average of 70% must be maintained to receive your final certificates.

Driving Classes Students will drive and observe for ninety (90) minutes each day in car class. Vehicles will be leaving school grounds promptly and therefore lateness will not be permitted. The use of electronic devices is prohibited throughout the driving session.

Absences & Make-up Classes The New York State Education Department guidelines for Driver and Traffic Safety Education requires a minimum of twenty-four (24) hours of classroom lecture and twenty-four (24) hours of laboratory (driving) instruction. This will include at least six (6) hours of required driving for each student. Students must attend all forty-eight (48) hours of the program to receive the MV-285 form (certificate of completion). New York State allows 1 make-up class for the summer program. Students who miss more than 1 class will be dropped. Any missed classes must be made up.

Applications and Registration All applications must be submitted to Room 104 at The Fran Greenspan Administration Building or your High School Principal’s Office by 12:00 p.m. on July 6, 2016, to be considered for the program. Applications are to be filled out completely and include: A clear copy of the NYS Learner’s Permit or Junior License Signed Parent Contract Form Payment (stapled to application). Registration is based on the student’s birth date only. Any outside conflicts are the student’s responsibility to resolve, not the Driver Education program.
