Finding Information in books You often have to find information from a text book. You may not know where to start looking. There are two places that can help. 1. The list of contents at the front of the book 2. The index at the back of the book. Some books have a glossary which gives definitions of key words. To help us practice collecting information, we are going to have a team race.

The Dewey Decimal System This system was developed by Melvil Dewey in 1876. The system is a method for placing books on library shelves in a specific and repeatable order that makes it easy to find any specific book or to return it to its proper place. The system is made up of 10 main classes

Melvil Dewey was born in New York on 10th December 1851 and died on 26th December 1931
