he Air Jordan III was designed in 1988 by Tinker Hatfield, works for Nike as a designer for stores and offices. By that time Michael Jordan was ready to leave Nike, but the Jordan III changed his mind. It was the first Air Jordan to feature a visible air unit on the heel, the new Jumpman logo, an elephant print trim and tum leather to give it a luxury look. The Air Jordan III was also famous for the humorous ads depicting film director Spike Lee as Mars Blackmon, the character he played in his film She’s Gotta Have It. This campaign was known as “Mars and Mike”, which was one of Nike’s most successful advertisement campaigns.

These were the first Jordans to feature the “NIKE AIR” logo on the back. These were said to be Jordan’s favorite shoes, he wore them during the 1988 NBA Slam Dunk Contest and many other events in his basketball career. The Jordan III’s had poor sales when first reintroduced in 1994. On their second reintroduction in 2001, they sold well.

The Air Jordan VIII was released to coincide with the 1992–1993 NBA. The eighth model of the Air Jordan was noticeably heavier than its predecessors.

The Air Jordan VIII model became known as the “Punisher” because of the advanced basketball ankle support and enhanced traction.

This shoe contains a full length air sole, polyurethane midsole, polycarbonate shank plate, and two crossover straps (for added support and more custom fit).

The shoe was retro-ed in 2003.

In 1989, Nike released the Air Jordan IV to the public.

Designed by Tinker Hatfield, it was the first Air Jordan released on the global market. It had four colorways: White/Black, Black/Cement Grey, White/Fire Red and Off White/Military Blue.

This was the first shoe after Jordan’s retirement. The design of the XV’s originated from the aircraft prototype X-15, which was developed by NASA during the 1950s. The sides of the XV were made from woven kevlar fiber.

The Jordan brand became official as a Nike subsidiary with the release of the Air Jordan 12.

Jordan’s 1996-97 season is one for the history books. In Game 5 of The Finals, MJ put on a legendary preformance, scoring 38 points, grabbing seven rand handing out five assists while suffeing a 103-degree temperature against the Utah Jazz. MJ would mately lead his team to yet anoher tiltle.

The predominantly leather sneaker turned to the Jordan 2’s faux lizard skin for its mudguard and a design inspired by the Japanese flag’s rising sun. Jordan won his fifth title with the Bulls in the 12, which made the black/red colorew legendary for his performance in game 5 of the NBA finals, often referenced as the “The Flu Game.”

The Air Jordan XII is the twelfth Air Jordan sneaker and released in 1996. It was designed by Tinker Hatfield and the design was spired by the ‘Rising Sun’ of Japan.

The most memorable Air Jordan XII is the ‘Flu Game’ Black/Red color, which Michael wore during the 1997 NBA.

First rumored back in February 2020, the Air Jordan 6 “Carmine” finally returns tomorrow, February 13th. Although the two-tone sneaker has retroed before (in 2008 and 2014 to be exact), the colorway has never reissued with original “NIKE AIR” branding on the heel. Tomorrow’s release, however, ends a 30 year dry-spell as it features NIKE, Inc.’s pre-Air Jordan logo in the titular “Carmine” hue. As on the original, suede across the upper, as well as detailing on the tongue and heel pull tab, also indulge in the rich red tone.

Remaining components on the fan-favorite Jordan 6, including leather paneling, synthetic materi around the collar and the sole unit, divvy up a “White” and “Black” makeup that is surely to transport many enthusiasts to Michael Jordan’s 1991-92 NBA season.
