It is no underestimation to say that these pages completely rely on your input and enthusiasm, and we are constantly delighted to see what wondrous creations you come up with.

This issue’s entries to the Exhibit pages have kept up the usual standard and imagination of previous challenges, and it’s good to see a few of the magazine tutorial techniques creeping into your creations.

First of all we have to say well done to James Beer for taking the winning position. His image really impressed us and you can see why he took the winning post below.

It was also interesting to see how a lot of you applied a fantasy spin to your images. Maria created a beautiful butter y haven, while Richard Dean created a very e ective other-worldly image. Mohammed’s misty world was very inviting and Jo Ann McGreevy created a very stylish image that wouldn’t look out of place as a lm poster. Also a big well done to Ryan and Minxin for their pieces of art inspired by Tim Shelbourne’s bubble tutorial.

Don’t worry if you have yet to complete your challenge – we have no deadlines so there’s no pressure to get it done by a set time. We’ll judge the entries as and when they come!

Chicken

“I was going for overall impact rather than any intelligent composition of photos. The chicken is obviously the focus of the image, while the other photos aided as textures and effects along the way. As for techniques, I painted a fair bit using the standard Brush tool and a Wacom tablet. I also used the Color Range selection tool to move paint around the image to make it more interesting.” THE WINNER!

Why it’s a winner!

James has entered the challenge a few times and always produces excellent images, but this one really caught our eye. The mixture of textures, subtle colours and photos has resulted in a very accomplished and striking piece of art. We particularly like the hint of text in the background and the watercoloury effect throughout.

What Have We Here?

“Martians return to the scene of their devastation, only to find a sole survivor… the lizard from challenge 13! Can you find him?”

The Daemon and the Golden Child

The combination of effects in this is a real treat, and the lightning is particularly effective.

Fantasia with Butterfly

“I started out with the stone gate, and five cups of coffee and a few hours later, this was the result!”

Jelly

“Been playing with Elements for a while – but with your magazine, Bert

Monroy and the brushes from your disc, playing got much more fun.”
