Utilita Charity Challenge Cup Programme | Charity Derby

Page 1

WELCOME Good afternoon and welcome to Ainslie Park,

We are thrilled to see fans from across the city and beyond come to watch the first ever Edinburgh Charity Derby between Big Hearts Community Trust and the Hibernian Community Foundation kindly powered by Utilita Energy! As charitable organisations of our respective Clubs, we believe in the power of football to create positive change. In the stands or at home, football connects people together. It’s about sharing the good and the bad times, and supporting each other. Today, to mark World Mental Health Day we are joining forces to raise vital funds and share a very important message: it’s okay to not be okay and it’s okay to ask for help. One in three people will experience a mental health issue each year. Everyone has mental health, whatever football team you support. The donations collected at the game will go to support essential community programmes, including The Changing Room: a wellbeing project for football fans running weekly at Easter Road and Tynecastle Park. We would like to thank the Utilita Energy team for their outstanding efforts to bring Big Hearts and the Hibernian Foundation together and offer a fantastic family day out for football fans and charity supporters alike. With a host of football legends taking to the field, under Gary Lockey and John ‘Yogi’ Hugues, this afternoon’s match is set to make history!

Thank you for your support and enjoy the game. Debra Clason, Utilita Energy Hub Leith Lewis Melee, Hibernian Community Foundation Craig Wilson, Big Hearts Community Trust

THE CHANGING ROOM

The Changing Room is using football to bring men together to tackle mental health. In the stadiums, in the stands, in fan forums, even in the queue for a pie and Bovril if you want. We just need guys to open up. We all love a blether about the football, whether it’s pre-match tactics, the team selection, or post-match analysis with your pals. But men also need to get the stuff that’s bothering them off their chests. The Changing Room is here for you.

Big Hearts Community Trust is a non-profit operating from Tynecastle Park in Gorgie. We are the official charity of Heart of Midlothian FC and we believe in the power of the beautiful game to reach out and engage with people who need our help most. As a well-established football charity, Big Hearts brings community resources together to offer adults and children free opportunities to help them live a safe and fulfilling life.

Earlier this year Big Hearts initiated a ‘listen and learn’ consultation to identify key-learnings from our work during the pandemic and better understand what matters the most to the people we support and work with.

Our new strategy #BigHearts2024 sets out our ambitions for the next three years. We are committed to deliver programmes of activities across three areas: - Mental health: bespoke advice and peer-support promoting positive mental health at all ages. - Social connections: a safe and welcoming environment to build meaningful social connections. Equal opportunities: access to essentials for a brighter future, regardless of background. A massive thank you to all the Hearts’ fans and Big Hearts Supporters in the stands today. Your continued support means a lot and keep us going. Enjoy

the

Utilita are pleased to be able to support this fundraising charity match to raise monies for the amazing work that the Hibernian Community Foundation and the Big Hearts Community Trust do at a grassroots level. We have a really great relationship with locals across the Edinburgh community, and we often hear wonderful things about both of the club charities and the work they do. Additionally, a survey undertaken by Utilita Energy during lockdown revealed the importance of attending football matches for fans’ positive mental health, and how much people struggled without the beautiful game.’ Debra Clason, Utiltia Leith Energy Hub Manager
