The Hickory Museum of Art inspires, educates, and transforms our community and region through the visual arts. The focus of our Collection is American art.
FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR As most of you know, the SALT Block is home to six resident institutions – the Catawba Science Center, Hickory Choral Society, Patrick Beaver Memorial Library, United Arts Council of Catawba County, Western Piedmont Symphony and the Hickory Museum of Art. What you may not know is that the Block is also supported by its “silent” partner, the SALT Block Foundation (SBF). Except for the Library, which is funded by the City of Hickory, the Foundation oversees the operation of this Block. It pays for 85% of its residents’ facilities costs – including utilities, building and grounds maintenance, capital replacement, and security. I hope you will agree that this edition of ARTVIEW features another exciting menu of innovative exhibitions, programs, and activities that do so much to enhance our area’s quality of life. As always, thanks for your support of HMA that enables us to provide these important services. Thanks also for your support of the SBF that enables us to spend less time raising money to pay for facilities expenses while we concentrate on quality arts offerings. Sincerely,
Lisë C. Swensson Mark Sinclair and Lisë Swensson in front of the Arts & Science Center of Catawba Valley. For more information on how you can support the SALT Block Foundation with a gift now or in your estate, contact Mark Sinclair, SBF’s Director of Development and Planned Giving at 828-446-7752, msinclair@saltblockfoundation.org.
