Imet Turner in 2018 when he moved here from San Antonio after getting his Master’s in hospital administration. His original plan was to work at a hospital in Alaska but it fell through. His friend from grad school was a U of A alum, and told him he would love NWA! Ironically, that friend also said “you’re going to meet the love of your life in Northwest Arkansas.” Turner took a position at Northwest Medical Center in Bentonville.

Soon after, we matched on Bumble. I was hesitant about online dating, but Turner seemed great. I had a friend that worked at the same hospital (her hus band worked there too!) and I asked if they knew him. She said “I can’t believe y’all had to meet online and I wasn’t the one introducing you to him… he’s amazing and you have to meet him!”. Her husband was actually his boss.

Turner and I dated for almost two years before he proposed. He had orig inally planned to propose when we were in Peru hiking the Inca trail to Machu Picchu. But after some counseling from my mom and sister (they knew I’d want family and friends there to celebrate), he changed his plan to propose when my sister and grandpar ents were visiting us before our trip. I was with my family at Crystal Bridges and the plan was for Turner to meet us there. When he arrived, he asked if I would come out by myself to see the new exhibit. I had no idea his plan was to propose and I think I said yes about a thousand times. We had a glass of champagne and celebrated!

When we met my family with the news, his parents and grandparents had also ar rived for the occasion! After dinner with family, he suggested the two of us stop

by the Holler for a drink. To my surprise, all our closest friends were there for an engagement party they had planned!

We spent about eight months plan ning the wedding and of course COVID happened in the middle of our engagement. We had a much smaller guest list than originally planned, but we were still able to get married on June 20, 2020!

Our ceremony was at First Church in Springdale and our reception was around the corner at the Apollo on Emma. We loved the art deco style of the Apollo and that we could walk there from the ceremony! e evening was beautiful and everyone was ready to dance the night away. We had “his” and “her” drinks at the bar, courte sy of Koon’s Saloon, and Wright’s catered the best barbecue. Shelby Lynn's Shoppe even custom made the groom’s cake with two llamas as an ode to our Peru adventure. To end the night, we rode o in a vintage con vertible Cadillac. e whole weekend was perfect, and although COVID made things look a little di erent, it worked out just as it was supposed to and we enjoyed every second of it!
