Refrigerator Notes In this issue.. Features

With the concerns of these past couple of years with coronavirus, many of us have put off routine health check-ups. I’m definitely in that category. I started the new year with an eye exam and an annual physical. At my physical, my doctor came in with a check list of to-do’s for me: mammogram, colonoscopy, shingles vaccination... I realized at that point I can’t put off routine examinations and preventive services. And, neither should you. We dedicate our February issue to Healthy Kids & Healthy Families. That means you, too, parents. We’re so busy taking care of everyone else—especially our kids—that we often set aside our own needs to focus solely on our kids. So, take a walk with me on this journey. If you need a preventive screening or an annual exam of some sort, schedule it. Don’t wait. Your kids are depending on your being healthy. More importantly, you are worth the time and effort it takes to ensure your well-being. This Valentine’s Day, don’t only tell your kids you love them. Tell yourself the same. Watch a sunset together. Plan your summer garden (it’s bound to get warm sometime). Wash your hands, wear a mask around others, and be good to yourself. You’ve got this! |
