The brochure should be visually brilliant. It should capture action, results, and strong testimonials. It can be as simple as a “one sheet” marketing piece—or as fancy as a tri-fold. Ideally, you have two brochures: one that describes your features and benefits, but another that tells the story of yourself or your company.

You can continue to tell your story by including a biography. A biography is an opportunity to spin a tale about how you or your employees have come to where you are.

The final piece in crafting your story is from the eyes of happy customers. Contact past clients and if necessary, craft the testimonial yourself and submit it to them for approval.

You’ll be surprised how many customers will take what you’ve drafted and change it completely, providing you with a stronger endorsement than you came up with yourself.

What Else?

The actual folder in which you will include your marketing pieces should be custom designed to let your customers and prospects know: we spend money to make money. When your Marketing Kit lands on the desk of a prospective CEO, you want him or her to stop what they’re doing, open the package and say, “Wow. This is amazing.”

You should also include any media pieces about your business. If you get an article in a magazine or newspaper, have it reprinted on quality paper with the publication’s name and date.

Marketing Kits are also a great place to include the history of your company, or a book written by you or an employee.

Meeting Suzanne Alyse Hamilton, MD and Ms. Suzanne Somers

At a recent medical meeting of 3,000 doctors, one of the keynote speakers was Ms. Suzanne Somers. You may know her as a TV star, authoress of 20 books or active advocate of women’s health and wellness. At age 67, she is an energized, tireless crusader for women and the embodiment of health and wellness.

In the evening, of 3,000 attendees, only 25 of us physicians were invited to a private gathering to meet with Suzanne. As an integrative medical doctor dedicated to finding and treating the underlying causes of menopause and fibromyalgia, it was an absolute honor and joy to be one of those few invited guests. And what a delight Suzanne was! After she gave a brief presentation to our small group, I got to spend quite a bit of time with her. I was able to share with her how much I and my patients appreciate what she does for women’s wellness. And she, in turn, graciously shared how much she appreciates what I do for women’s wellness. She also said that she knows Minnesota well and is here every now and then.
