From the Publisher: Hello readers! I hope everyone had a great holiday. My children and family had a great time, and I hope yours did as well! How is everyone’s New Year’s resolution to be healthier coming along? My intentions went up in flames but I’ve definitely changed the way I eat and the amount I eat, which is making a huge difference. I strongly believe in ‘everything in moderation’ – mostly because I love a little candy once in a while!

We’ve hit a milestone as well as a few major achievements that we’d love to share with you. First, we got through our inaugural issue with all 10,000 copies getting into potential clients’ hands. Half of those were at the Tulsa Home and Garden show, the largest home show in the state, but our advertisers got to meet many of those clients firsthand and talk to them one-on-one. Second, we now have a fantastic distributor who has gotten our magazines in several hundred businesses this cycle and will continue to do so from now on. Finally, third, in the May-June cycle we will also be distributing to homes in targeted neighborhoods.

As the owner, I believe in doing everything in my power to bring business to our advertisers, and each month/cycle we’ve been doing more and more to achieve that. Don’t miss out – find out what our advertisers already know – we take care of our advertisers so they can focus on what’s really important…YOU. Hello! I am a pop artist whose work focuses on fashion, love, and Oklahoma!

My artwork has been exhibited in galleries across the state, including IAO Gallery, TAC Gallery, Living Arts of Tulsa, and The Tulsa Performing Arts Center. You can currently see my artwork at the Aloft Hotel in downtown Tulsa.

I am also one-half of the celebrated design duo Louis & Cluck. Louis & Cluck is best known for creating I Heart Tulsa, Don’t Hate the 918, I Speak Okie, and I’m Down with T-Town.

For my I Heart Tulsa, Don’t Hate the 918, I Speak Okie, and other pro-Okie brands, I personally hand print each piece of clothing, in addition to making many of the other products by hand (including buttons, magnets, coasters, greeting cards, and art). I do the photography, marketing, social media, accounting, sales... like most independent business owners, I pretty much do it all.

The 918 Project is an ongoing art project where I am photographing 918 people who live, work, and play in the 918 area code! Check back for more updates, as I continue featuring more and more awesome people!

Angela is the mom of three girls and a soon-to-be grandmother. One her favorite things about the 918 is running the Route 66 Marathon every year.

Personal Testimonial I don’t normally do this, but I don’t use very many face products nor do I use a lot of makeup, but I was given a sample of this product a couple weeks ago and loved it so much I asked HER if I could write about it. The product was ENHANCEMENTS Micro-Dermabrasion Paste. It’s made by Rodan + Fields – you know, the two women doctors who created Proactiv, that acne product that every celebrity with bad skin (and many with good skin) seem to be promoting on television? Those ladies have created this line too. I’ve only tried the microdermabrasion paste, so that’s all I can vouch for, but if that product is any indication of the quality of the rest of the products, I might have to save my money and get them too.

The first thing I did when I got ready to try it was take a ‘before’ picture because just in case I liked it, I needed to be able to see the change in a photo. So, for all embarrassing intents and purposes, I’ll post my before and after pics at the end so you can see them side by side.

I didn’t need any water, I just opened the packet and put some of the paste on my finger. I dabbed it on my forehead, cheeks and chin and started rubbing in a circular motion. I won’t sugar coat it – it’s probably not for super sensitive skin. It didn’t hurt, but I could feel it scrubbing away the dead skin. If you wanted to try it and you had sensitive skin you could, just dilute the paste with water or wet your face before you put it on. I rubbed the crystals into my skin for a good 5-7 minutes then wiped it off with a warm washcloth. It’s formulated with a base that keeps your face from looking like you really just had a face peel, so it doesn’t burn and it doesn’t make your face super red.

I was surprised to see such a big difference – my skin looks a lot healthier and I could easily walk out of the house like this. Full Disclosure – I did smile bigger and take my headband off, but I’m not wearing makeup in either photo. Easy (and healthy!) Overnight Oatmeal Layer all of this in a regular sized mason jar • • • • • • • •

1cup steel cut oats 1cup soy or almond milk (vanilla tastes great!)

1tsp (or Tbsp) of Chia seeds and/or flax seeds 1Tbsp (heaping) of creamy peanut butter Lightly mix together Fruit on top (Strawberries & blueberries work well together) Seal the lid on tight, put in refrigerator until next morning Add granola if desired, then enjoy!
