“Encompassed in a honeylike haze, Lucy and Rebecca have their pick from bouquets of pre-rolled cannabis joints. Together, they drift off into their own luscious space of sensuality and togetherness, unbothered by the chaos of this world.. “Canna Queens” is an ongoing series about the relationship of women and weed. Cannabis is, in our contemporary Western society, a male-dominated industry. However with the current legalizations and de-stigmatization of this herb, the role of women in this industry, both professionally or recreationally cannot be denied. With roots in traditions of healing, introspectiveness and togetherness, this body of work focuses on the roots of feminine nature of cannabis."

Bunny Wailer II

1947 2021 2021 1947 Born Neville O’Riley Livingston in Trench Town, “Bunny” Wailer lent his stage name to the legendary reggae ensemble The Wailers. Band members came and went over the years, but three members remained, Robert Nesta Marley, Winston Hubert McIntosh, and Neville Livingston, better known as Bob Marley, Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer. The young Neville Livingston spent his earliest years in the village of Nine Mile in St. Ann Parish. It was there that he irst met Bob Marley, and the two toddlers befriended each other quickly. The boys both came from single-parent families; Livingston was brought up by his father, Marley by his mother. Later, Bunny's father Thaddeus "Toddy" Livingston lived with Bob Marley's mother Cedella Booker and had a daughter with her named Pearl Livingston. Peter Tosh had a son, Andrew Tosh, with another of Bunny's sisters, Shirley, making Andrew

his nephew. Bunny Wailer formed "The Wailing Wailers" with his step-brother Bob Marley and friend Peter Tosh, and the short-lived members Junior Braithwaite and Beverley Kelso. Throughout the 1960’s and early 70’s, The Wailers covered three types of distinctive Jamaican music, Ska, Rocksteady and Reggae. They catapulted to international fame with the album “Catch A Fire” and also helped popularize Rastafarian culture. According to Wailers manager, Maxine Stowe, Wailer died at Andrews Memorial Hospital in the Jamaican parish of St. Andrew on March 2, 2021 of complications from a stroke in July 2020. “The passing of Bunny Wailer, the last of the original Wailers, brings to a close the most vibrant period of Jamaica’s musical experience,” wrote Jamaica politician Peter Phillips in a Facebook post. “Bunny was a good, conscious Jamaican brethren.” Jamaica’s Prime Minister, Andrew Holness, also paid tribute to Wailer, calling him “a respected elder statesman of the Jamaican music scene,” in a series of tweets. In 2017, the Jamaican Government awarded Bunny Wailer an Order of Merit, the country's fourth highest honour. The Government again recognised his contribution to Jamaican music in February 2019 with a Reggae Gold Award. Memorable albums like Blackheart Man, released in 1976, and Rock 'n' Groove which came out ive years later. His hit songs include Cool Runnings, Ballroom Floor, Crucial, and Bald Head Jesus.

Bunny’s albums have been a constant source for political and social messages, and his passing is felt across the globe. 32years later, and his messages are ever still so relevant. To Neville O'Riley Livingston, "Bunny Wailer" legalization advocate and reggae legend, Thank you for your contributions to music and the message!

“But we're gonna rise! As the morning sun that surrounds you, It's international morality time, Where mankind must be born anew. So rise and shine! For the sake of the younger generations, Putting hearts and minds, To brotherhood and unity” ...................................................................................................................

CANNABIS TOPICALS ARE

HEALTH AND WELLNESS REGIME

W

e know ‘Topicals’ fall squarely in the realms of health, wellness, and medicine. Individuals usually seek these products to help them heal minor injuries, manage pain, relax muscles, savor massages, and more. Cannabis topicals are body products of herbal extracts with several ratios of cannabis

components. When applied to the hair, skin, a n d b o dy re g i o n re d u c i n g p a i n a n d in lammation as it works its way through. This method of cannabis application generally lacks the psychoactive effects and is best absolved through the skin by binding with the CB2 cannabinoid receptors in the immune system, therefore further

stimulating the endocannabinoid system to react to pressure and pain points. Topical besides been appliable lotions and balms can be used to reduce wound-related to non-healing skin ulcers. And an overall relief from a rare blistering skin disorder like Epidermolysis bullosa. Topicals contain cannabinoids, particularly THC and CBD in speci ic ratios, which work in the affected areas when applied simultaneously. The method of application is quite different from the regular way of cannabis lower consumption.

Topical like salves, balms, and massage oils are applied directly on the skin and absolved into the bloodstream locally around the affected region. Unlike inhaling by vaping or smoking which is absolved through the lungs and straight up to the brain. Topicals work its way around the area of discomfort through the body of network called the Endocannabinoid system in our bodies. BELOW ARE SOME PRETTY GOOD TOPICALS EXAMPLES. LOTIONS: Are our everyday go-to helper for healthy and good-looking skin glow. The irst nourishing tool our body requires is often packed with the right essential ingredient necessary for building a healthy body. Our skin needs the right food, and that means using essential body products. Lotions like body creams, lip balms, deodorants, acne removers, shampoos, chapsticks, perfumes, and mascara are made from cannabis extract. Serving the body with the necessary natural components from the plant. PATCHES: Individuals struggling with chronic pain are drawn to patches. These are pieces of adhesive fabric saturated with cannabis extract and other botanical for swift pain reduction in sensitive areas. The patch releases cannabis extracts into the body to stimulate the bloodstream for healing. BALMS/SALVES: Got an elbow ache? An itchy scratch? In the past, you might have grabbed a traditional salve to help ease the pain, which takes a little longer to see results. The infusion of cannabis salves and balms in the beauty industry is a takeoff on acne and itch in more effective ways. SPRAY: Individuals turn to cannabis sprays to help manage pain for a variety of injuries,

including oral injuries and sore ankles. A spray made of cannabis extracts can be purchased from the shelf or made at the comfort of your home to instill more con idence in preference. Sprays are quite effective for managing oral health, foot soak, even as a bathing ingredient among other uses. MASSAGE OIL: Oils infused with cannabis are popular among massage therapists in legally regulated states. Masseuses often agree with the good bene its of cannabis oils. Because it helps their patients fall into a more relaxed state during message sections. LUBRICANTS: Every couple wants to enhance their sexual lives, honestly. The use of lubricant is one way of ensuring that holds water. Who wouldn't love an amazing lubricant made of natural cannabis extract for lovemaking, especially when it has that extra scented lavor from cannabis terpenes? Finally, It is safe to say that while topical is bene icial in mitigating pains, it is one area that will serve the beauty industry real good. Understanding the product categorization, however, requires expert cosmetologist and epidemiologist research.

GROWING WITH

NATALIE

GROWING WITH

NATALIE

My Strain L in eup for the Season The minute the sun sets past 4:00 pm, I like most Canadians start thinking of Spring. I can feel it in the sunshine on my face. I’m anxious for warmer weather; especially after a long cold winter on lockdown. I’ve longed for my garden all winter. My garden provides respite from everything going on around us. It’s my oasis; my sanctuary. I’ve already started planning my garden and my cannabis growing for spring. I sorted all my vegetable and lower seeds into an organizer case. It took me two days. I realize I have a lot of seeds. Don’t judge me. I started a vermicompost bin so I can have my own worm castings. I also started my lineup of cannabis plants this week; popping eight seeds. Last summer I grew six different strains. I like variety in my stash because on any given day I would prefer to smoke at least two or three different cannabis strains. Here’s my winning lineup for the 2021 season: B l u e b e r r y - T h e swe e t l avo r o f f re s h blueberries combine with relaxing effects to produce a long-lasting sense of euphoria. Blueberry is a perfect strain for medical users to suppress pain and relieve stress used most

commonly for ADD/ADHD, Anxiety, Arthritis, B i p o l a r D i s o rd e r, C a n c e r, D e p re s s i o n , Headaches, Migraines, and PTSD, while connoisseurs and growers admire the strain its colorful hues and high THC %. Although some of the blue from the mother has been lost in the cross, about 50% of this strain retains the blue and 100% of its mother’s fruity taste. My eldest son asked me to grow this one. I’ve had the seeds for a couple of years and truthfully wasn’t interested in growing them. At the time Blueberry was everywhere, and I was sick of it. It seemed boring, and so it sat in the back of my seedbox; a wall lower destined to sit out every dance. After reading some reviews, I had to revisit my bias and give this one a chance. It’s listed at 13% THC and high CBD. My bias caused me to miss out on the fact that while I was searching for a CBD seed for months, I had one in my possession all along. I’m really excited to see how this Cinderella dances at the ball. Zkittlez2 - The parenting genetics of Zkittlez (Grape Ape x Grapefruit) provide a very appealing lavour pro ile described as candy, tropical fruit, berry, grape, citrus, and fuel. The Indica-dominant effects of the Zkittlez provide a surprisingly uplifting effect according to most user accounts. Zkittlez is known to have a fast onset and provide full-body relaxation and

focus. Producing medium-sized, solid buds with c o l o u r s ra n g i n g from light to dark green with burning bright pistils, Zkittlez usually is accompanied by a variable rainbow of different hues of colour. Flowering in just 53 to 63 days Zkittlez has a high yield of bud with massive bag appeal, testing around 19 28% THC. When I invested in seeds I ordered a variety from one company. I ordered a single Zkittlez seed, and boy was I happy I did. Zkittlez is known as the “House Wine” in my home. It’s the one strain I grow each grow cycle. One of my sons calls it our Pineapple Express because like the movie, he can pick it out anywhere. I called this one Zkittlez2 because my last plant made seeds. Until now, I’ve grown Zkittlez exclusively from a clone I keep going with mothers or re-veging. This is one of the most fragrant strains I’ve grown so far. High in Myrcene, it reminds me of a Julie mango, which is a variety I know from the Caribbean. While the seed information listed it as an Indica, I ind this plant grew very Sativatype in form, and feels more Sativa dominant in the smoke. I can credit this strain for getting me through the irst couple semesters in college,

and on the honour roll at that. It leaves me feeling invigorated and high-performing. Pun intended. It is a heavy hitter though, so be warned. I just love it, and if I can, I think I’ll grow this forever. Girl Scout Cookies/GSC - GSC, also called Girl Scout Cookies, is an Indica-hybrid strain made by crossing OG Kush with Durban Poison. GSC produces euphoric effects followed by full-body relaxation. This strain typically features a high level of THC, sometimes coming in as high as 28%, so it is best reserved for consumers with a

Strawberry Cough - Known for its sweet smell of fresh strawberries and an expanding sensation that can make even the most seasoned consumer cough, Strawberry Cough is a potent Sativa strain with mysterious genetic origins. However, Strawberry Cough is thought to be a cross of Strawberry Fields. The skunky, berry lavors will capture your senses while the cerebral, uplifting effects provide an aura of euphoria that is sure to leave a smile on your face. Strawberry Cough is a great solution in times of elevated stress. With Spring in the air who can resist Strawberries? Honestly, I had these seeds and thought , “why not?’ I’ve smoked Strawberry Cough a couple of times and it was pleasant enough, so why not? This Sativa dominant strain is also high in Myrcene, which I’m pretty sure is my favourite terpene, so it had that in working in its favour. GG #4/ Gorilla Glue #4 - Original Glue (Gg4), developed by GG Strains, is a potent hybrid strain that delivers heavy-handed euphoria and relaxation, leaving you feeling “glued” to the couch. Its chunky, resin-covered buds ill the room with pungent earthy and sour aromas inherited from its parent strains, Chem’s Sister, Sour Dubb, and Chocolate Diesel. Taking irst place in both the Michigan and Los Angeles 2014 Cannabis Cups as well as the High Times Jamaican World Cup, this multiple awardwinning hybrid's supremacy is no longer a secret, and consumers will search far and wide to get their hands sticky with Original Glue (Gg4). I tried germinating this one years ago and wasn’t successful, and I wasn’t invested enough to keep trying. I read something about this recently that piqued my interest to give it another go. I mean, it’s classic, and I’m always down for a good classic strain.

Critical Purple Kush - Critical Purple Kush is an Indica- dominant feminized cross between Blueberry, Critical, and Peyote Purple. It saved their best characteristics. The plant has a purple colour during lowering at low temperatures. It grows well in any condition, best of all outdoors. Critical Purple Kush is slightly higher than its Critical parent. Its growth reaches 2.5-3 m. The THC content is 15-20%. The variety yields a yield of 400-500 g / m2 in 60-65 days. The plant has wide branches that will require support. The strain has a delicious fruit lavor reminiscent of pineapple, with hints of lemon and skunk. The smoke gives you a euphoria, physical relaxation. Fruity, skunky lavour, and high THC combined with showy purple colours while growing? Sign me up. This was a nobrainer for me. The last two strains I have are exclusives from a master grower and breeder friend I know in California. They read like math equations (Mom x PG x PM x SO) x (Neroli 91) and Orange Burmese x Neroli 91. Judging by the names I’m expecting heavy citrus notes like mandarin, and lorals. I’m most excited for these, so stay tuned to see how they play out during the season. My friend has been working on these for a while. The two of us are cooking up some ire in the strain kitchen. Stay tuned for that.

ON THE CANADIAN CANNABIS INDUSTRY THE IMPORTANCE OF BRANDING wBYwCLINT w . hSHARPLES, e r i t aCEO, g eHERITAGE c a n nCANNABIS .com

T

he landscape of Canadian cannabis has had its fair share of highs and lows. Over the last several years, we’ve seen licensed producers change directions multiple times. What started off as a race of square footage for cultivation, quickly transformed into a war of marketing dollars being spent on expanding verticals. Companies had to alter their

strategies repeatedly in order to stay a loat in this unpredictable business. Throughout the turbulence, there is only one directive that has proven to be a sure bet: strong brands will ultimately provide value. In an oversaturated industry, acquiring the right brands is not only a great way to set yourself apart, but it’s also the

best way to prepare for success. Brand recognition is crucial in increasing business value and gaining leverage in the industry. A thriving brand will win a desirable and necessary amount of shelf space. Unlike medicinal cannabis consumers who typically stick to the same products, recreational buyers tend to prefer to experiment with different products in the market. The most ef icient way to engage this curious consumer category is by gaining access to focused brands that know what they are doing and have learned to do it well. Unlike traditional CPG products, cannabis advertising regulations make it increasingly challenging to market

brands and generate interest, which is why it is imperative to provide innovative products that not only appease the buyer but also provide a memorable consumer experience. Acquiring multiple brands allows for diversity and prominence in the market. A few of the bigger players in the industry have already spent a large chunk of cash to build brands that resonate with consumers, but for smaller companies that don’t have the same kind of capital available, starting from scratch will be a strenuous and costly process. While acquiring a brand also comes with its own price tag, it allows a company to attain a

G r o w i n g a b r a n d t h a t i s a l r e a dy established is easier to do than building one from the ground up, especially if you are actively listening to consumer insights. Understanding a customer’s needs is a sure way to gain more shelf space. What we’ve learned so far is that the dried lower and pre-roll markets have already proven to be overcrowded, so focusing on offering products such as extracts and concentrates will unlock a new and untapped demographic. It is important to remain focused on certain categories and excel within those, instead of spending a massive amount of capital to try a little bit of everything. Consistently analyzing and utilizing consumer research will enable brands to discover current holes in the market and provide them with the opportunity to supply them successfully. In addition, with today’s cannabis consumer having access to massive American markets such as the ones in California and Oregon, standing out has

become even more challenging. Canadian cannabis brands are forced to compete on a larger scale with limiting regulations, but if existing brands can grow from province to province, generate brand awareness and build recognition, they will eventually be able to compete successfully with brands south of the border. It’s true that there is a lot of potential in the U.S. due to more favourable regulations, and building the right partnerships with American licensed producers and dispensaries will be key in opening the door to those opportunities. Since Canadians are considered pioneers in the cannabis space because of our early legalization, this creates an ideal situation

recognizable name and an established presence in the space. The overarching strategy is to purchase several brands w i t h m u lt i p le S KU s i n a ra n g e o f categories. Having a selection of premium and value options will also allow you to gain access to several demographics with various ranges of disposable incomes. The wine industry is a perfect example of this model, where a winery will offer a reserve next to a regular estate selection so that a consumer can ind a bottle at the right price point.

for Canadian companies to strengthen their brands and attract global partners. To grow their pro iles into pro itable businesses, smaller Canadian cannabis producers have the opportunity to act now and plan their brands strategically. One critical step is to create a range of brands that are all working to strengthen the bottom line collectively. Acquiring the right brands and growing numerous small entities into one large entity is a worthwhile approach that will lead to pro its down the road.

As this issue comes out covering both February and March, it is done in honor of both Black History month and Womens History Month it’s with great pleasure to welcome the inspiring and very talented Antuanette Gomez, A highly intelligent, young cannabis entrepreneur who is navigating and leading the way in an industry not yet de ined. Antuanette is the CEO of Pleasure Peaks, a clinically formulated CBD pleasure products consisting of; lubes, bath salts, s u p p o s i to r i e s , t i n c t u re s , c re a m s , capsules and sexual health supplements. She runs Pleasure Labs, a research and development branch of Pleasure Peaks, a monthly Podcast called Pleasure Talks, and hosts Pleasure Island Retreat where she helps gets couples in touch with their intimate side. Antuanette is also a full time cannabis consultant and a proud public speaker on cannabis and its cross-section with sexual, women and minority issues. She also has a cannabis inspired jewelry line, and started the Green Rush Program, which is a 30day experience that assists in the launching of legal cannabis businesses. Most recently she created the CBBB Expo (Cannabis Built by Blacks) w h i c h h i g h l i g h t s b l a c k c a n n a b i s

p r o f e s s i o n a l s , p r e & p o s t legalization, to which it was well r e c e ive d d u r i n g i t ’ s o p e n i n g weekend Feb 26, 2021. I sat down with Antuanette right after her expo weekend to get some insight to her businesses, projects and future plans. Tell us about Pleasure Peaks growth since 2015 and the development of your CBD products? When it comes to our pleasures I love that aspect to how much we've grown in terms of inclusivity of not only women who are dealing with pain but also the LGBTQ community when dealing with playing, pain and sexual healing and pleasure. I think what I've learned over the years, we've just changed our tagline but “Pleasure Is Your Birthright”, all races, all genders and it's incredibly sobering almost as a statement because you really quickly realize that's not the way a lot of people think. That's not a way we have thought in the past and there's opportunities to change. So that's one aspect of how we've grown over the past 8 years. Another thing to add on is on top of inclusivity is being like a woman of colour owning a business in the cannabis industry has been very interesting it's like I come from the legacy market and not only that I've come from but like I've been in this industry for eight years now which is like almost impossible to say , but even

a person with my experience and background still has huge barriers on getting involved due to systemic racism to be honest, it's quite frank you know and that's just like it's nobody's fault it's just the world that we're in. As for the products, I decided to reach out to doctors that were focusing on sexual health. "We're like the biggest market is the medical market, it's not the recreational market" We work with people like chemists, clinical formulators who used to work out inside P izer and Bayer you know because we wanted to work with the best of the best so we've always been coaching that's the best that we can ind. We've always seen the medical opportunity as the biggest opportunity to make the most change, to make the most impact!

Tell us about Pleasure Labs and the vital information gathered through research and development? So we tested our irst virtual home retreat last year and wegot a very small turnout, it just wasn't the same. Our wait list is growing for the in person retreats and these resorts overseas are really adamant about coming back for business, So I'm very, very con ident that when we're allowed to and and when things are safe, that we'll start strong looking at places that host like 10 to 20 couples. Another thing I want to say is that safety is our number one key as a business owner i can never put my customers in jeopardy because of pleasure or sexual healing because our lives are the most important thing and that's what we think of as a company and we want to make sure that like every single one of our retreats are luxurious, it's just going to take some time. Tell us about Pleasure Labs and the information that you collect through your research and development? It became an idea I guess last year that we wanted to start gathering a lot more data. So we just kind of put some feelers out there on like how big of a scale could we get grab our data and

what we decided was like now that we have products in the US we're going to be giving free products to women who are suffering with ailments in exchange for data and, and I love that because I know that they're incredibly effective. That's what we're trying to do in the US and then they're doing different, you know clinical trials in Canada but the Pleasure labs is for the US members only. Tell us about your Acapulco Gold Jewelry line? I came up with the jewelry line because I would speak at every expo around the world and I would look for jewelry booths and every time I would ind them they were so expensive and they were so big and they were so ugly honestly it was just like not speaking to my aesthetics, just very bro. I guess not really feminine or luxury in that aspect. They were so expensive and I just could never wrap my brain around it, So with quarantine i lost like 60% of my income because Pleasure Peaks, a lot of our income came from events internationally, So I was just like I would need to igure out other means. My mom used to own a jewelry company growing up called Why Not Jewelry and I loved it so I thought like you know I could do this like. Let's try it out and I did yeah and quarantine like 2020 and it like skyrocketed so well! And then I noticed that like there's a potential conversation that we can spearhead here which is taking on the irst 15% pledge. It's mostly known in the US but a lot of Canadian companies have signed up too like

Sephora and Chapters where they put 15 % of their shelves space to black or bipoc brands. So I igured you know with everybody working in the cannabis industry it's not enough to not be racist, it's not enough to not be racist, we need to be anti-racist and the only way how we can be anti-racist and create an inclusive industry is if we put numbers there. And I get that a lot of people don't like numbers or percentages because they're like well... we should be hiring the best of the best and it's just like a thousand percent that does not mean we're not going to be hiring but if we put a number there it shows online that people who are looking for jobs, that they're wanted. A number of people of color feel that they're they don't belong in this industry because they do not see many people who represent them. That's what I've learned with Acapulco Gold is that we can create inclusive industries and it's not enough to not be not racist. Tell us about the Green Rush Program? I created the Green Rush Program because George Floyd's passing stressed me so hard to the point where I was so literally traumatized seeing a black man being lynched on my phone to the point that I was just like I need to do something. I can't not do something. I have like so much energy of trauma, pain, anger inside of me like how can i make this a positive thing and I felt that you know I was just like we're going to create a more inclusive energy. You can't be what you don't know

right so the fact that there isn't really traditional education or resources or accelerator hubs that are in places for people of colour is a huge barrier. The second part is there's not enough support in this industry, We have over 40 hours of educational online content on how to build a compliant cannabis business globally. It doesn't matter what state you're on or province we have those capabilities so it's like education support a n d a c c e s s to m a n u fa c t u r i n g a n d licensing. We work with our in-house partners that have LPs are manufacturing globally to white label these brands so that's that support network that they need to actually bring a CPG bids product to market or if they would like to be a B2B business, we can help them in a compliant

manner with that too and then the fourth pillar on top of manufacturing and licensing is funding so we actually work with cannabis venture capital funds speci ic cannabis ones that want to look for those cannabis startups that can give like ten to thirty thousand dollars within your bank account within a week for these startups and if you did need to do like a 16 million dollar raise we do have those bigger partners as well that can do those capabilities too so it's those are the four pillars which is education, support, funding and manufacturing and that's why it's been incredibly effective and it just so happened to be that eighty percent of our students were people of colour. I would say like 90 of them were women which is really interesting to see but with

that being said I was so shocked that we launched like eight black businesses last year. Tell us about the CBBB and the FIRST expo held Feb 26th weekend? We had over 700 attendees, and over 70 speakers from four continents show up to the virtual Cannabis Built By Blacks, which is wonderful there's a lot of power within that and there was a lot of economic plays that were being made, business deals are being made on panels so we just need to continue creating space for people of colour to thrive in so they can be a part of this industry in a larger scale. Tammi - Will these expos be regular? Yeah we're going to de initely do it annually. I'm actually thinking about turning the expo into a membership model, an economic global hub for black leaders in the cannabis industry because like i mentioned before black culture is light years ahead of the black economy. It's my favorite quote right now and I just want to get it to where it needs to be! With Women's History Month here, what women in the cannabis space have inspired you in your journey, and who do YOU hope to inspire going forward? My favorite is Tracy Curley! I met her

when I was super young I think I was like 18 at the time and she just looked at me just like an 18 year old like who is this child you know and she um she was just so inspiring because she was just ighting for patients till her last day. I remember going to my irst Woman in Weed event, my irst one. It was like legit ive of us okay um and she's there with all of her weed and I was just saying like well why, why why aren't we doing this for us like why aren't there more women in reach circles like why aren't we helping each other in business. Why don't we have investor circles? Why do we have like mentorship hubs? and I am like “girl if you're asking for these things that means that you're the one that's supposed to do it” you know? I always stick with that because if you're the one with the idea you're the one that needs to bring it to life or share with someone to bring it to life and I feel that call of action stuck so much with me to the point where I feel like I need to just ful ill all of these ideas that I get all the time and to be of service because it's always not about me, it's way bigger than me and that's the point, this plant can help so many people around the world. I just want to you know continuously shout from the mountaintops to share with people that it can de-stigmatize, to educate so we can get cannabis to the point where it can help humanity as a whole.

And who do you hope to inspire? I would love to inspire any entrepreneur that has felt like defeated in any industry that they can still do this. It's just that things take a lot longer in our industry but it's still worth it. I want to inspire those thought leaders that have these incredible ideas that can be sustainable that can be you know revolutionary in healthcare that they can too, work in cannabis as well! TRIMINATOR JOINS MOBIUS AS PART OF THE ETEROS FAMILY TO C R E AT E O N E O F T H E M O S T COMPREHENSIVE LINE-UPS OF C A N N A B I S A N D H E M P HARVESTING AND PROCESSING EQUIPMENT IN THE WORLD! Mobius and Triminator brands will continue to operate independently to provide greater access for both into all markets Eteros Technologies, owner of Mobius Trimmer, the No. 1 brand of high-end cannabis and hemp processing equipment, has acquired Californiabased Triminator, a pioneer in harvesting equipment for professional growers of cannabis and hemp. The acquisition provides the Canadian-based Eteros Technologies with a broader product range and increased access to the U.S. market. Financial details were not disclosed. The Mobius and Triminator product lines combine to form the world’s largest manufacturer of cannabis and hemp harvesting and processing equipment. Eteros Technologies, parent company of the Mobius line, plans to retain Triminator employees and leadership, and the company said both brands will continue to operate independently. Working in synergy, each will marshal greater engineering, sales, training and support resources to offer customers the most comprehensive suite of processing solutions on the market. This acquisition also means that the full Canadian designed-and-built Mobius line and full U.S.-built Triminator product line will be stocked and available across North America.

“Just like Mobius, Triminator has built an amazing business from the ground up,” said Aaron McKellar, CEO of Mobius Tr i m m e r. “Using innovation and ingenuity, Triminator’s team created machines that helped de ine the postharvest process in modern cannabis and hemp agriculture. We look forward to building upon each other’s strengths to help even more farmers increase the ef iciency of their harvest.” The two product lines complement each other precisely because of their differences. Each is focused on providing full support to a specialized market. Triminator is committed to the cannabis and hemp farmer by building a community of hands-on brand ambassadors who have their own farms and can mentor other end-users on the craft of processing. The Mobius line has been focussed on equipping and supporting growers who are operating in a large-scale, highly regulated environment, where SOPs and often GMP requirements drive processing operations and investing heavily in developing the training resources and technical documentation necessary to serve these endusers. “This acquisition could not be a better

it from our perspective,” said Dana Mosman, CEO of Triminator. “We equip some of the most advanced farms across the globe and maintain our commitment to supporting farmers.

Now our options to help these cultivators just increased exponentially. We look forward to continuing to meet the needs of the farming community, to h e l p g r o w e r s i n c r e a s e productivity and pro itability i n t h e r a p i d l y e v o l v i n g cannabis market.” Each brand serves different customer segments. TILRAY Q4 EARNINGS: AN ANALYST COMMENTS ON THE FUTURE OF CANNABIS IN CANADA. With Tilray reporting earnings for its fourth iscal quarter of 2020, please ind commentary below from Brenda O’Farrell, senior analyst at Investing.com:

"With Tilray poised to become the biggest cannabis company in the world since announcing its merger with Aphria in December, all eyes in the sector were on the c o m p a n y ’ s f o u r t h q u a r t e r earnings unveiled after the close on Wednesday. And the company did not disappoint. In fact, it offered a stellar performance, beating analyst estimates, while showcasing its international reach. With sales jumping about 46%, driven by international demand, which increased by 191%, Tilray posted a better-than-expected loss of 2 cents per share, which stands in stark contrast to the $2.14 loss at the same time last year. As the cannabis sector overall continues to ind its footing, one of the big questions the industry is wrestling with is: Is bigger better? Well, Tilray’s results are taking

the guesswork out of that query. And investors were quick to notice. Tilray shares shot up more than 10% in after-hours trading. And although one quarter doesn’t make a trend, the winds are in the sector’s sails, as optimism linked to U. S . f e d e ra l l e ga l i za t i o n continues to blow." Cannabis data intelligence company Headset has released a new industry report for the month of February. In this report, you will see a look at cannabis sales trends in Canada, speci ically, sales since November 2020. In Headset’s analysis, they found a sales decline in November that can mostly be explained by the nuances of the calendar year, with November 2020 having one less weekend than the prior year.

After examining like-store sales in AB, BC, ON, and SK, they found sales partially recovered in December with sales through the holidays seeing mostly strong growth. However, sales were weak in the last week of December and irst two weeks of January in all markets as consumers faced lockdowns due to COVID. Let's take a look at a takeaway from this month's report and check out this month’s Cannabis Market Overview at www.headset.io/posts/cannabismarket-overview-february-2021

potencies of precisely 20.0 per cent is extremely low, which leads us to believe Canopy is employing a static labelling approach," wrote B.C.-based Pure Sunfarms in the complaint. Pure Sunfarms is wholly owned by Village Farms International Inc.

HEALTH CANADA IS INVESTIGATING COMPLAINTS ALLEGING INACCURATELY-LABELLED POTENCY LEVELS FOR SOME PRODUCTS SOLD BY LICENSED POT PRODUCERS, INCLUDING INDUSTRY LEADER CANOPY GROWTH CORP. As reported on by David George-Cosh, a reporter at BNN Bloomberg, the Smiths Falls, Ontario-based cannabis producer was called out by rival licenced producer and Canada’s current cannabissweetheart Pure SunFarms in a complaint submitted to Health Canada's Cannabis Compliance Directorate last month. According to a copy of the document o b t a i n e d by B N N B l o o m b e rg , t h e complaint centres on sales of Canopy’s TWD brand that displays a lat 20-perc e n t te t ra hyd ro c a n n a b i n o l ( T H C ) potency for 18 separate batches of its cannabis products. "The statistical likelihood of this many lots coming back with identical test result

"Our conclusion is further supported by conversations with some of our provincial partners who indicated that certi icates of analysis they receive from Canopy on these products do not match the potency found on the TWD labels in question." Aside from price, potency levels are one of the top criteria that Canadian cannabis users consider in their product purchases. As a result, cannabis producers try to grow plants that yield potency levels above 20 per cent, which is believed to be the preferred minimum potency among Canadian marijuana consumers. Canada's licensed producers currently have more than one billion grams of cannabis collectively stored in inventory, as they believe it is of insuf icient potency or q u a l i t y. E x e c u t i v e s f r o m s e v e r a l producers, such as Tilray Inc. and Sundial Growers Inc., have frequently stated low THC potency as a weight on sales, resulting in either sizable inventory writedowns or missed revenue opportunities. Cannabis companies are required to label the THC and cannabidiol (CBD) content and potency levels on the packaging for each respective lot or batch. However, Canada's cannabis regulations don't set

variability limits for THC or CBD for dried lower products. It does set criteria on how edibles and extracts potency can be labelled. A Health Canada spokesperson told BNN Bloomberg in an emailed statement that there is no variability limit for dried cannabis as potency levels vary between different parts of the plant as well as between plants within a speci ic lot or batch. "All issues and complaints brought to Health Canada’s attention are taken seriously, including any issues with licence holder activities as they relate to the Cannabis Regulations. If warranted, after further investigation, Health Canada would take appropriate action to correct any potential non-compliance," according to a Health Canada spokesperson. When asked to comment on the Health Canada complaint, a spokesperson for Canopy Growth told BNN Bloomberg in an emailed statement that the company complies with Health Canada’s labelling requirements. "Flower strains must achieve a de ined THC and CBD percentage potency. This percentage dictates how the product will be labelled – both as a brand and strain," the spokesperson said.

“The percentage is a representative midpoint of a narrow range of historical test results for that product and strain. Only strains that meet the productspeci ic cannabinoid targets, as tested both in-house and by independent thirdparty labs will be sold." In an interview, Mandesh Dosanjh, chief executive of icer at Pure Sunfarms, said that regulators need to be clear about the rules about labelling cannabis potency to avoid any ambiguity that could be misinterpreted by Canadian licensed producers. He said that providing lat or static potency igures on labels " lies completely in the face of what's written in the rules and regulations." He added that Health Canada should create a testing standard that all third-party labs should abide by when calculating cannabis potency levels to avoid any possible discrepancies one lab may have compared to others. "If we have misinterpreted it like 95 per cent of the industry, there's a signi icant cost disadvantage to labelling the exact percentage on the bag," Dosanjh said. "If Health Canada is okay with that, there'd be a signi icant economic impact to us and many other producers as well as ef iciencies in the supply chains of the retailers and the provincial boards."
