From the Desk of Kathryn Woodson Barr: Dear Parents, Last week, I asked you to give us your opinion about the summer mailing – email versus snail mail. One hundred fifty people completed the survey, and of those 150 participants, 107 prefer receiving emails about the upcoming school year. Thirty-two participants do not have a preference, and nineteen people prefer paper copies of the information about the coming year. With these numbers in mind, we are moving forward to make a small step in becoming a “less paper” school. We will email the information about the upcoming school year to you in July. In addition, the information will be available on the website, and a few paper copies will be available in the office. You will be able to complete the forms on your computer or to print them in your home or office and fill them out by hand. You will have the option of emailing, snail mailing, or delivering the forms by hand to the office. Thank you for your participation in the survey. I have read every comment that you posted, and we are using these comments to help us move forward in a way that is seamless and productive. Stay tuned for more progress with our commitment to using technology to communicate effectively with the community. Kathryn Woodson Barr During July, Highlands School typically prepares and mails packets with information about the upcoming school year to all families. In an effort to become a "less paper" school, and to be responsible with tuition dollars, we are considering emailing the information to each family. We would like your input on this potential change. Please choose one of the responses: Response Percent

Highlands School Book Fair The Highlands School Book Fair will be held on Thursday, April 10. Please make sure you have returned your students’ permission slip if you would like them to purchase a book for the Learning Center. The Book Fair has already gotten off to an early start! A great big “Thank You!” to the Highlands Daisy Scouts who conducted a bake sale to raise funds to purchase books for the Learning Center collection. The Daisy Scouts presented a check to Ms. Baker last month during their troop meeting.

Grandparents/Special Friends Day Reminders •

Please remember that on-campus parking will be reserved for Handicapped Parking/Special permit only.

Please do not park along the driveways. We need to keep these areas free of parked cars so that the bus shuttles can enter and exit campus freely. Also, in case of emergency the driveways will need to be clear for emergency vehicles.

Please park at the old Mountain Brook Swim & Tennis Club and use the bus shuttles that will be running that day. The Highlands Bus and a yellow STS bus will be running the shuttle route.

The program will be in the Blue Devil Arena/Gymnasium.

If you would like your student(s) to be checked out by their grandparent/special friend please notify their teacher before Friday.
