Highlands School Annual Recognition Day On Wednesday, May 20, Highlands Students were recognized during the annual Recognition Day program. Pat Long (aka Mrs. Pat), one of Highlands Preschool Teachers, delivered an inspirational speech to the students on the importance of being a leader and being good students. Following the Recognition Day program Mrs. Mendel and Mrs. Hammer conducted what is sure to become a treasured tradition at Highlands. Mrs. Mendel and Mrs. Hammer conducted the first annual Move Up Ceremony in which students were asked to leave the seats they have occupied all year and move to the seats that their classes will occupy during the next school year. The ceremony began with the Class of 2009 leaving their seats and moving to the stage area to symbolize their leaving Highlands and continuing their education at their respective secondary schools. Excitement filled the air as each grade level then moved to their 2009-2010 seats. This ceremony was a great way to end a day set aside to recognize our students accomplishments. Congratulations again to all of the students who were recognized during this program.
Parents remember to pick up all your children's medications from the Health Room before the end of the school year. All medications not picked up will be discarded in June. Thank you!

Some of the helpers this year were Chris Brookshaw, Andrew Denard, Wells Wagner and Jack O’Malley. Also pictured are the 2003 and 2008 Rose Bush Helpers and the rose bush from that corresponding year. Our students definitely have green thumbs!
