References: “Remembered Be Thy Blessings” by Dr. Richard B. McCaslin; Notes on the history of High Point College by Dr. J. E. Pritchard*, a trustee, and great uncle of Margaret Pritchard Freeman’57. *In response to the Board of Education of the North Carolina Annual Conference of the Methodist Protestant Church, three men in the conference, Dr. R. M. Andrews, Dr. L. W. Gerringer and Dr. J. E. Pritchard were appointed to raise funds to build a college. High Point College resulted. Dr. Pritchard was appointed to the college trustees and served many years, and in 1949 he gave the address for the college’s 25th commencement. The Zenith that year was dedicated to the five members of the faculty who had been with the college since its beginning, and Dr. Pritchard was the only living member of the original committee.

Principal seemed to think that because I was a Minster’s wife that I had special connections and could deal with the “more difficult children.” Yeah, right. Those were some long years.
