SURVIVAL LIST

FOR STUDENTS

This list of suggested items was developed to help you organize and pack for residential living at High Point University. Some of the items included are optional and are not required for on campus living. Essential items include an asterisk (*).

APPLIANCES:

Desk lamp*

Power strip and extension cords*

Alarm clock

Iron

Electric kettle

Television

Microwave (included in certain dorms)

Mini fridge (included in certain dorms)

Gaming systems

Coffee maker

Hair dryer, curling iron, flat iron, etc.

ITEMS NOT ALLOWED:

• TVs mounted on walls

• Anything with a coil burner –no toasters, toaster ovens or candle warmers

LINENS AND TOWELS:

Bed sheets, both fitted and flat* – 2 sets

Pillow and pillowcases*

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE:

• All mattresses are regular twin size, except R.G. Wanek Center/ UC-2 and Panther Commons which have full-size beds. XL Twin mattresses are available upon request; please log onto your My HPU to request an XL twin mattress.

• All windows have blinds. Curtains may only be hung with a “tension” rod.

• Surge protector use is encouraged

PROVIDED AMENITIES BY RESIDENCE HALL:

• Personal belongings should be covered by your parents’ insurance or some separate form of insurance in the event of damage or loss.

• If you plan to bring a computer to campus, please go to www.highpoint.edu/ welcomeweek/computerpurchases and review minimum requirements. Any computer related questions can be referred to the IT HelpDesk at (336) 841-9147.

For Blessing Hall, students will need to provide their own kitchen items (dishes, silverware, pots & pans, and cooking utensils). For Blessing Hall, shower curtains available in handicap accessible.
