Parent Perspectives on HPU Early Decision

It was so nice to have peace of mind early in the process. We had friends that were waiting for college decisions, and we could focus on finishing senior year strong and getting ready for college.

We visited HPU several times. We also visited 10 or 11 other schools around the country. Nothing compared. Once my son was accepted Early Decision, he didn’t have to stress anymore over applications. He was set.

Mark Farmer, Father of Class of 2024 Student Oliver, from Fort Myers, Florida

Early move in was so beneficial to arrive a day early and get acclimated, especially coming from far away. It is apparent that HPU views students as members of the family, not just a number.

Donna Chiapperino, Mother of Class of 2024 Student Nicole, from Blauvelt, New York

I really felt my daughter made her decision the first time she set foot on the campus. She was so impressed with the Premier Life Skills focus at the university. She wanted to tour other campuses, so I brought her to a couple more. Not one campus could compare to HPU and the way she felt HPU was investing in her education or the way they would help her prepare for her future.

—Suzanne Kelly, Mother of Class of 2025 Student Nicole, from North Fort Myers, Florida

My son applied early decision, and he had the best year ever! He didn’t have to worry about admissions. He chose an extraordinary school that provided him with benefits like early access to his success coach and early move in (this gave us more time to spend with him). If you know HPU is home, then do early decision!

—Dora Alvarado, Parent of Class of 2026 Student Retana, from Raleigh, North Carolina

I love talking to parents with upcoming seniors about the benefits of Early Decision. The early acceptance day relieved so much stress for my daughter and allowed her to focus on her future at HPU.

Elizabeth Staton, Mother of Class of 2025 Student Caitlin, from Timberlake, North Carolina

Nothing to debate, Early Decision is the wise choice. First priority for housing, class schedule and move in.

Patrick Brockcamp, Father of Class of 2025 Student Mandy, from Aurora, Colorado

Early Decision has so many benefits at HPU especially when it comes to reducing the stress of the college search process. There are many other benefits as well, but it was so nice for our son to know that his college search was done in the fall of his senior year, and he could therefore focus on his high school studies. My son even remarked that he wished he had visited High Point University before his other campus visits because that would have been it — his decision was already made as soon as he was done with the tour.

Pamela Burgess, Parent of Class of 2026 Student William, from Ashton, Maryland

The benefits of early decision including dorm choice, early move-in and preferred parking space are definitely worthwhile. Once you and your child are set in your heart that High Point University is your place to be, it would be crazy not to go with early decision!

—Jen Perna, Parent of Class of 2026 Student Ella, from Durham, North Carolina

Early Decision provides many benefits and engages the student right away in making their own choices. Students can make connections with other ED students as well as their success coaches. Being an ED applicant was an added bonus since we could check in early and avoid the crowds.
