How to CreateYour Dream Closet 12
www.HighRiseLife.com
Creating the closet of your dreams could be in closer reach than you may think if you’re willing to take matters into your own hands. With a little creative inspiration and some basic DIY skills, you may be surprised by the stylish space you can design by yourself.
Start with a vision Creating the perfect closet space begins with your ideas. Think about the details such as how you want the space to look and the amount and type of storage you need. Envision everything from colors and finishes to the physical shape.
Get practical Once you’ve dreamed up your ideal closet, compare your ideas with the space you have available and adjust your plans to fit your footprint and budget. This step allows you to get creative with ways to maximize your space and use every available inch to create a closet that gives you the function and aesthetic you desire.
Create closet zones An envy-worthy closet isn’t just a stunning space, it integrates functional elements so seamlessly that they blend right into the design. When it comes to storage, a stylish and easy-to-assemble system like ClosetMaid’s SuiteSymphony balances form and function in almost any space. This tower-based closet system, which can be a perfect option for projects on tighter budgets, combines multiple tower sizes and corner units to create a completely custom DIY closet system. The system also accommodates a wide range of accessories for more customization such as stylish doors and drawers, angled shoe shelves, jewelry trays and tie and belt racks.
Pay attention to details It’s not just the structure that can bring your dream closet to life; little touches can add up in a big way. Upgrade your light fixture, for example, and look for other ways to personalize the space for a look that’s all yours, such as shelving to display treasured photos or keepsakes, or a spot on the wall for a vision board to draw inspiration from as you begin each day.
Keep color in mind Introduce light and personality into your closet with rich color and style. Add accent color on the walls behind your clothes or incorporate color with the structural elements. For example, the SuiteSymphony line offers several color options, including on-trend finishes like Graphite Grey and Midnight Brown. REAL ESTATE | HOME IMPROVEMENTS
How to Bring More Space into Bathrooms to Build Buyer Appeal Today’s designers, architects and builders are creating modern bathrooms that are practical, luxurious, comfortable and accommodating. They know homeowners and homebuyers desire – even demand – these features regardless of the bathroom’s size or layout. Therein lies the challenge: How to create a feeling of spaciousness and openness without sacrificing valuable floor space, obstructing traffic flow or forfeiting storage space. Despite these impediments, building professionals can meet these bath-design challenges and even exceed them with an option like Johnson Pocket Door Frame Kits. Pocket doors can be installed in virtually any room but are particularly well suited for use in bathrooms, where space is often at a premium. The typical hinged door requires up to 14 square feet of floor space to swing open. A pocket door, conversely, slides into the wall, leaving the space in front of and on either side of the doorway open and available. Pocket doors are commonly installed at the entrances to bathrooms and can also be used to conceal linen closets and washers and dryers when the bathroom serves double duty as a laundry room. There’s also a growing bathroom remodeling trend of enclosing the toilet alcove to create a toilet “room” within the bathroom. However, space September 2020
restrictions seldom allow for the installation of a swinging door, so remodelers often install pocket doors. Pocket door frames also allow for items to be mounted on the pocket wall. For instance, when used with Johnson’s 151558PL Pocket Wall Reinforcement Clip Set and 5/8-inch thick plywood, the 1500SC Pocket Door Frame with all-steel split studs can support wall-mounted fixtures such as towel bars, shelves, framed mirrors or artwork. The pocket door frame kit comes equipped with soft-close hardware that allows doors up to 200 pounds to be opened and closed by the touch of a fingertip for less risk of pinched fingers and slammed doors. The frame also comes with self-tapping screws that work for both drywall and finish trim, and the smooth-rolling pocket door hardware and track exceed ANSI standards, meaning they can successfully complete 100,000 opening and closing cycles. Another potentially unexpected benefit of using pocket doors in bathrooms is the free space gained can be used to install larger vanity cabinets, freestanding shelving units, bigger bathtubs and other fixtures that may have been squeezed out in order to accommodate swinging doors. REAL ESTATE | MARKET TRENDS
Frenzied Buyer Demand and Low Inventory Ignite Double-Digit Growth in Home Prices The national median listing price climbed 10% to $350,000 in August as homes are selling at their fastest pace in 15 months - Inventory continues to decline nationwide with the number of homes for sale down 36% year-over-year - Homes are selling in 56 days on average, five days faster than a year ago - Of the Top 50 housing markets, Miami was the only market to see a decline in listing prices During a time when the typical homebuying season is showing signs of slowing down, home buyers were out in full force in August, scooping up homes at a rapid pace and sending the nation’s median listing price up 10% to a new record of $350,000 as the nation’s inventory of for sale 36
homes reached new lows, according to realtor.com’s August Monthly Housing Trends report. Nationally, buyers continue to outnumber sellers as the inventory of available homes declined 36% in August year-over-year -- a faster pace than July when inventory was down 33%. New listings were down 12% year-over-year, a slight improvement over July’s decline of 13%, but not nearly enough to make a dent in the overall inventory shortage. At the end of August, there were nearly 500,000 fewer homes available for sale compared to a year ago. www.HighRiseLife.com
The lack of available inventory and strong buyer demand combined to accelerate listing price growth to its highest level in three years, while the pace at which homes sold continued to pick up steam. On average, a home in the U.S. is selling in 56 days, five days faster than last year. “It’s difficult to imagine that the housing market will be able to sustain the frenzied demand we are currently experiencing, but we have yet to see any signs of slowing,” said Danielle Hale, realtor.com Chief Economist. “Buyer traffic on realtor.com is outpacing the record levels we saw earlier this year, suggesting that demand will continue to exceed the number of available homes for sale. Although demand is much more intense than it normally is this late into a buying season, the typical home asking price has likely peaked for the year at $350,000. However, given the strong demand, sellers will remain in the driver’s seat for the foreseeable future.” In July, the number of homes listed for sale in the nation’s 50 largest metros declined 38.1% year-over-year in August, up from the 34.8% year-over-year deficit in July. Forty four of the 50 largest metros experienced greater inventory declines than July despite an uptick in the September 2020
volume of new listings in many of these same metros, underscoring just how hot the housing market is. Indianapolis-Carmel-Anderson, Ind. (-55.9%); Riverside-San Bernardino-Ontario, Calif. (55.5%); and Providence-Warwick, R.I.-Mass. (-51.7%); posted the largest inventory declines in August, while homes sold two, nine, and 10 days faster than last year in those markets, respectively. Listing prices in the nation’s largest metros grew by an average of 8.9% compared to last year, up from 7.8% in July. Of the largest 50 metros, 49 saw year-over-year gains in median listing prices in August. The Northeast is leading the price gain with listing prices up nearly 19% in Philadelphia, 14.7% in Boston; and 12.2% in Providence-Warwick. On the West Coast, San Francisco saw listing prices increase 12%. The Miami-Fort Lauderdale-West Palm Beach market was the only metro to see a year-over-year decline, with listing prices falling 0.3% most likely due to the recent spike in Coronavirus cases and lower international buyer demand. Skillful curatorship – curadoria in Portuguese – lies at the heart of CURA, the new restaurant at Four Seasons Hotel Ritz Lisbon. Like the timeless Portuguese modern artworks that frame the Hotel’s common areas, each seemingly simple dish reveals layers of complexity to evoke an emotional and sensorial response. Chef de Cuisine and head culinary curator Pedro Pena Bastos selects his ingredients as meticulously as an artist chooses his paints, drawing from Lisbon’s richness of seasonal ingredients to create artisanal dishes of great depth and meaning. Treating his ingredients with devoted respect – and following his instinct when it comes to the pursuit of taste, texture and technique – Chef Pena Bastos relies on the purity of the freshest local produce in a constant quest “for the complexity that lies beyond simplicity.” With its façade and entrance on Lisbon’s Rua Rodrigo da Fonseca, CURA is both of the city and of the Hotel, from the people and for the people. Mirroring the dishes served inside, the Hotel’s austere external structure similarly unveils layers of wonder within floor-to-ceiling windows, terraces overlooking the park, banquet spaces flooded with natural light and even a unique suspended staircase. Like the finest exhibition, CURA unites a collection of innovations and intentions into a stimulating whole. It foregoes tweezer precision in favor of artistic freedom; favors quality over quantity with a seasonal menu of just 12 dishes inspired by local hero ingredients; and adds poetry to the presentation through custom ceramics, cutlery, and glassware. And like the presentation, each dish is a dramatic celebration of reverie and reality: freshly caught sea bass garnished with brassicas, parsley and saffron; squid with hazelnuts, roasted seaweed butter and caviar; Hokkaido pumpkin, chanterelles, pistachios and Indian cress. Further revealing complexity within simplicity, the “bread moment” is one to savor. Crafted using ancient grains such as emmer and spelt for an intense depth of flavor, CURA’s iconic side dish is served with aged butter from Ilha das Flores in Açores, and vibrant green olive oil: an “early harvest” specialty from Chef Pena Bastos’ Tomar family estate. Desserts also merge modern flair and ancient seasonal edibles, from figs with beetroot, lime, and reindeer moss to chocolate lovage sunchoke arabica. Chef Bastos is a proud Portuguese native and former rock band drummer. His equally visionary team comprises: mechanical engineer and “joyful bear” Mario the Restaurant Manager; innovative and introverted Sous Chef Marco; boldly creative Pastry Chef Diogo Lopes; and intuitive and skilled Sommelier Gabriela Marques. With a quest to “cook with joy and make others happy,” they take to CURA’s open-kitchen stage like a well-rehearsed band, delighting audiences with a culinary experience in a setting that intrigues like one of the Hotel’s artworks. “CURA was designed as an extension of the Hotel’s art collection, a mirror of Portuguese culture through the decades, with a strong nod to the 1950s,” explains architect Miguel Câncio Martins. “The Ritz is a living museum of sculptures, painting, and tapestries where diverse styles – from Art Deco to Louis XVI to modern art – coexist. We sought to enhance the artistic form of the elements that compose the space to develop a restaurant that was part gallery, part eatery, yet entirely ‘of The Ritz’.”
September 2020
Everything from the wine cellar to the walls and furniture has been developed as if it were art. Madeira wood paneling and beveled mirrors adorn the walls. Bahia blue granite adds drama and color to the tables and bar. The swirling spirals of the Picasso-inspired carpet tell a tale of the Hotel’s history, punctuated by teal sofas, brass accents, black Kenyan marble, while a vine-like wine rack harks back to Chef Bastos’ countryside upbringing; the source of much of the restaurant’s culinary inspiration too. “Where I was raised in northwest Portugal, ingredients weren’t something that you browsed and chose at the grocery store, but alive, transformative, and meaningful,” Chef Pena Bastos comments. It’s these memories that have shaped his approach at CURA, from working with small local suppliers to picking plump chickpeas from the wild. Each ingredient is selected not only for its flavour, but for the roots of meaning and memories it contributes. And while vegetarian Bastos can appreciate the marbled meat of Alentejo Iberian pigs, the menu’s plant-based offerings are set to steal to show.
45
Mindful ingredients deserve a sensitive wine pairing. Skillfully selected by Gabriela Marques, organic, Portuguese, and biodynamic specialties head CURA’s uniquely curated wine list, each weaving its own story into the menu: Quinta da Biaia – with its fresh mineral taste and persistent citrus notes – to complement the pumpkin starter; Quinta da Caldeirinha Vinha Velha, with its captivating blend of “old vine” grapes from a centuries-old organic vineyard; wildly piquant asparagus, green apple and marjoram juice – one of many non-alcoholic beverages and cold-pressed juices that combine to add ever-deeper layers to a menu that is itself a 21st century work of art. With a reduced total of 28 seats (to comply with physical distancing requirements) CURA is open for dinner only from Tuesday to Saturday, from 7:30 to 11:00 pm. Selections include a dedicated vegetarian menu and a range of set (7 and 13 moment menus) and à la carte options. All menus have wine or juice pairing options. Provence Herb Blend & Orange Blossom
Olive Oil Cake We were deliciously inspired by Local Milk’s Herbes de Provence and Rose Olive Oil Cake and decided to try it for ourselves. We incorporating our Provence herb Blend. We swapped rose water for orange blossom and modified the recipe to be dairy free.
Ingredients: 3 cups unbleached all purpose flour 1.5 teaspoons baking powder 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1.5 teaspoon flaky sea salt 3 tsp Provence herb blend 2 cups sugar 1/2 cup fresh grapefruit juice (o.j. works too) 1.5 tsp Orange Blossom (concentrate, like Nielson-Massey) 1 cup olive oil 1 cup Buttermilk* 1 cup 3 eggs 1 cup powdered sugar + more to thicken if needed 2 Tablespoons grapefruit juice 1/8-1/4 teaspoon orange blossom, to taste *To make dairy free buttermilk, add 1 TSP of white vinegar to 1 cup almond milk and let it sit for 10 minutes before incorporating.
Instructions: 1. Heat oven to 350°F. Thoroughly grease your cake tin, most especially thoroughly if using a Bundt pan. 2. In a mixing bowl whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, Provence herb blend, and sugar. 3. In a separate bowl whisk together the grapefruit juice, olive oil, buttermilk, rose water, and eggs. 4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry and gently stir with a spoon to just combine, making sure to scrape the bottom. Do not over mix. 5. Pour the batter about 2/3 way up the sides of your cake tins or pan (will make about 3 small bundt cakes or 2-3 8” layers depending on how thick you make them), and bake at 350°F for 30 minutes to an hour (depending on size of cakes). Cake should be a deep golden brown and a cake tester should come out clean when inserted. A few crumbs are fine; it just should not be wet or goopy. 6. Allow cakes to cool in their tins about 10 minutes, and then turn out onto a cooking rack to cool completely before icing. 7. Meanwhile whisk together your glaze. In a bowl whisk the juice and rosewater into the powdered sugar. Add sugar if you need to thicken it to get it to a pourable but quite thick consistency. Alternately, you can thin it with additional juice or cream as needed. Spoon the glaze over your cake. And enjoy!

Celebrated Italian Restaurateur Mario Iaccarino to Open Casa Don Alfonso at The Ritz-Carlton The First United States Restaurant Venture by Michelin Star Italian Restaurateur Mario Iaccarino Will Bring the Sorrento Coast to St. Louis 48

enowned Italian restaurateur Mario Iaccarino is pleased to announce the opening of his first U.S. restaurant project, Casa Don Alfonso at the The Ritz-Carlton, St. Louis this fall. A family with four generations in the hospitality industry, the Iaccarinos opened Don Alfonso 1890 in southern Italy’s Sant’ Agata, creating what is today an internationally lauded and beloved boutique hotel and restaurant with iterations all over the world, including Toronto and Macao. At Casa Don Alfonso, Iaccarino looks to welcome St. Louis diners with his family’s timeless Mediterranean recipes and signature charming hospitality that encapsulate the essence of the Sorrento Coast. “It was an easy choice to bring this project to the states with The Ritz-Carlton St. Louis,” says Iaccarino. “We share the same philosophy and incredible attention to detail, so it was a natural fit from the very beginning.” Iaccarino’s vision for Casa Don Alfonso is a relaxed and approachable setting, for which The Ritz-Carlton, St. Louis enlisted Atlanta-based architecture and interior design firm The Johnson Studio to bring to life. The 140-seat restaurant and bar feature multiple dining opportunities with relaxed seating in the lounge area and counter seating surrounding the open kitchen in addition to traditional tableside service. The color palette, inspired by lavender fields in Sant’ Agata, sets a romantic tone for the restaurant where the light purple motif is featured in a cascading glass wisteria chandelier, hand-painted floral tile by Italian ceramicist Giovanni de Maio in the kitchen, and even accented in the servers’ uniforms. Prominently displayed is artwork from Italian artist Anna Russo featuring Mediterranean landscapes and shorelines, citrus fruit, and florals. Having been friends with the Iaccarino family throughout the years, Russo’s art can also be seen at Don Alfonso 1890. Guests will also notice curated family photos of the Iaccarinos in the restaurant’s corridor, as if being welcomed into the family’s home. Bringing together Sant’ Agata and St. Louis, and as a nod to the city’s converging rivers, The Johnson Studio intertwined architectural elements like arches and curves, inviting the diner’s eyes to dance through the interior. Don Alfonso 1890’s culinarian and chef Ernesto Iacarrino ‘s Mediterranean menu looks to illustrate beloved recipes passed down in the Iacarrino family for generations, while also honoring the culinary traditions of Italy’s Campania region. An early preview of the dinner menu includes treasured family recipes like Anti-Aging Soup, Sorrento-Style Gnocchi, Grandmother Titina’s Ziti, Organic Neopolitan Pizzas and Fish Cartoccio as well as whimsical desserts found in Naples’ bakeries. Overseeing the Casa Don Alfonso kitchen is chef de cuisine Sergio Chierego. Honing his skills at celebrated restaurants all over the world, including the United Kingdom, Germany and Saudi Arabia, chef Chierego joins the Casa Don Alfonso team for his first stateside appointment. Originally from Cagliari, Italy, chef Chierego most recently served as the chef de cuisine of Azzurro at The Ritz-Carlton, Riyadh, where he drew upon seasonal ingredients to create modern Sardinian dishes. Chef Chierego and his team of culinary professionals will utilize the finest ingredients available to most closely resemble the sun-kissed produce harvested at the Iaccarino family’s farm. The Iaccarino farm was established by Mario and Ernesto’s grandfather, Don Alfonso, and acts as the ultimate inspiration for the cuisine by honoring the land and showcasing the exceptional quality of ingredients. Spearheading all restaurant operations will be general manager Alen Tanovic. Tanovic’s breadth of experience working in luxury hospitality has cultivated leadership and dedication for the guest experience, ensuring the highest level of service to create an unforgettable atmosphere. Casa Don Alfonso will open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner service this fall within The Ritz-Carlton, St. Louis, 100 Carondelet Plaza, St. Louis, MO 63105. Grand opening announcements and hours of operations are forthcoming.

Nearly Half of Employees Now Working from Home Want to Stay Remote, Study Finds For decades, the privilege of working from home has been largely reserved for elite, white-collar workers. In a matter of weeks, the COVID-19 crisis has forced millions more American workers into remote work, and a recent survey finds that many prefer keeping that arrangement. Forty-eight percent of employees working from home now say they would like to continue working from home, according to a new employee survey from The Grossman Group, a Chicago-based leadership and communications consultancy. Forty-eight percent of employees working from home now say they would like to continue working from home, according to a new employee survey from The Grossman Group. Clearly, employee work preferences still differ and working from home is not for everyone either because employees simply cannot do their jobs remotely or would prefer not to. Still, the survey findings are a clear signal
50
to employers that employee preferences are rapidly evolving and that it is time to rethink traditional ways of working, says David Grossman, founder, and CEO of The Grossman Group. “A great deal has changed in employees’ work lives in a short time, and if we want them to be engaged and productive, we’re going to have to be willing to meet them where they are as much as possible,” Grossman says. “Many employees have gotten a taste of working from home for the first time, and they like it. Others cannot wait to get back to the office. We encourage employers to help their people work wherever they can be at their best, to the extent that is possible. That’s a ‘win-win’ for companies and their people.” Curious about the employee perspective, the agency examined the preferences of different employee groups for when the pandemic subsides and offices re-open. Overall, the employees surveyed who are working from home had high marks for their employers’ response to the pandemic. This may have helped build their confidence in a remote working situation for the long-term. www.HighRiseLife.com
Key findings from the employees working from home: • 78% agreed their company leadership has lived up to the values of their organization during this time • 90% said their trust in their organization increased or stayed the same • 88% said their satisfaction with their organization as an employer increased or stayed the same • 80% agreed that their direct supervisor is communicating the information they need to do their jobs during the pandemic The Grossman Group conducted the online survey of 841 current U.S. employees across a variety of sectors from April 27 to May 1, 2020. Raw data were weighted by five variables (age, sex, geographic region, race and education) to ensure a reliable and accurate representation of the U.S. population, based on U.S. Census data. The margin of error for the data is +/- 3.4 percentage points. The Grossman Group helps organizations communicate more strategically to navigate periods of uncertainty, maximize the upside of change, accelerate leader impact, and improve employee engagement. The agency initiated the study after seeing growing client interest in new ways of working during the pandemic and beyond. Many employers were surprised by how quickly employees adjusted in the early days of COVID-19, which prompted questions about employee preferences and whether remote working options should expand. Some employers may find the growing interest in remote working difficult to accept, as it represents a large shift from the norm of only a couple months ago. Prior to COVID-19, only 7 percent of U.S. private sector workers had access to a “flexible workplace” benefit, or telework, September 2020
according to a prominent study of the U.S. Workforce the 2019 National Compensation Survey (NCS) from the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics. Many of those teleworkers were managers or other white-collar professionals. Thinking outside the box to identify new working arrangements that could be mutually beneficial to both the employer and employee is critical today, Grossman says. During the pandemic, even employers who traditionally expected employees to be in the office most of the time learned just how capable and resourceful employees can be, no matter where they are, he says. Further, many studies have shown that employees who work from home are at least as productive or more productive than those in the office. A frequently cited 2015 study by Stanford economist Nicholas Bloom reported many benefits from working from home, including higher productivity and a lower attrition rate. However, that prominent study produced cautionary findings, as well. Bloom found that many employees in the company he studied later changed their mind about wanting to work from home 100 percent of the time, as they felt too isolated. This led Bloom to recommend working from home a few days a week rather than constantly. This type of research supports Grossman’s own experience. “Many employees will be productive no matter where they are,” Grossman says. “A one-size-fits-all approach is not the wave of the future. More flexibility adds value to the employee experience, builds engagement, and brings results.” 51

5 Life Strategies to Maximize Your Life Written by Andrea Marcellus, Author of The Way In
Practice Personal Authenticity Getting more out of life means knowing who you are, what you like and how you excel so you can use your strengths unapologetically and to your greatest advantage. But personal authenticity isn’t just about who you are... it’s also about who you are not. Pandemic Practice: Ask yourself: How did you spend your time? What made you feel happy? When did you feel most like yourself? Recognizing and then honoring the patterns that emerge from your daily answers will help power your life forward.
Live The Rule of Awesome Do what is awesome... and if it’s not awesome, don’t do it. (Unless it is for your family or kids, in which case we gladly do all sorts of sacrificial anything and everything!) But when it comes to yourself, whether it is chocolate cake, new shoes, a potential new client, or a social event... if it does not make you feel fabulous, don’t do it.
Pandemic Practice A simple practice, but a truly profound concept, this life rule is all about becoming more discerning and economical in terms of choices. Not only is it a great strategy for avoiding “what should I wear” moments, handling takeout choices while you’re trying to lose weight, and saving money by avoiding impulse shopping, it establishes a technique for making decisions with clarity and purpose. Also, and more importantly, each time you decide something is worth it, you define and solidify your own self-worth, which levels up your life across the board.
Allow in The Extraordinary Life is full of beauty, even during a global pandemic, that too often passes by unnoticed as we race to fulfill one task, obligation, and responsibility after another. The precious time you preserve for yourself creates space and mental bandwidth for you not only to be able to recognize opportunity, but to seize it and pursue it. Pandemic Practice: The key is cultivating curiosity daily. By making a point to learn something new every day, even just a little thing, we keep the prefrontal cortex of our brain active, releasing dopamine and creating new synapses. Creating extra space and time allows you to slow down and receive beautiful moments, large and small, consequential, and not-so-much.

oss + Kramer Gallery, the fine art gallery with predominately blue-chip artwork, is moving from its Upper East Side location this coming Fall to Chelsea where the historic nightclub Bungalow 8 lived. While admittance to the club has been referenced in pop culture as one of the most sought after in New York City, the celebrity hot spot closed in 2009. The opening of Ross + Kramer Gallery will grant access for all to view the works of prominent artists in this iconic space. “We are so excited to be moving the gallery downtown to Chelsea. When we saw the location, we knew it had to be ours. It was a beautiful jewel box space that we knew artists would want to exhibit their work in, helping us grow our primary program and artist partnerships,” said Todd Kramer, Co-Founder of Ross + Kramer Gallery. The inaugural exhibition set to open Fall 2020 will be titled “How Bout Them Apples” showcasing works from Nina Chanel Abney, Eddie Martinez, Erik Parker, Jonathan Chapline and other New York based artists. A percentage of the proceeds from the show will go to Project Sunshine, a nonprofit that brings creative arts activities to children in hospitals globally.
“We wanted our first exhibit in the new space to honor both its location here in New York City and the artists based here. It’s all about inclusivity and giving access to patrons, collectors, and artists,” said Todd Kramer. Ross + Kramer Gallery also has a location in East Hampton, NY and is looking to open in Miami come Fall 2021. Ross + Kramer Gallery specializes in exhibiting and bringing to market a wide variety of blue- chip artworks by established artists while also housing a strong primary program offering. RKG provides clients unparalleled advice for acquiring art — whether for someone making a first purchase or a seasoned collector looking to add to an already established collection. RKG is dedicated to cultivating a dynamic roster of artists in both its primary program and the secondary market, with imaginative exhibitions that source both the rising stars of the art world and those who are already landmarks. Grove Square Galleries Sees Significant Demand for Picasso, Miro, Chagall in Current Climate Grove Square Galleries have seen a huge surge of interest in their growing stable of established artists over the past six months and, in conjunction with this, have seen great demand for their blue-chip artwork which has been eagerly purchased by both new and existing clients alike. Grove Square were always aware that there would be a strong interest in the blue-chip market, and took the initiative where others had stalled, by increasing their holdings and unearthing some true hidden gems both at auction and through their own extensive networks of private collectors. The newly acquired works consisting of 14 pieces, including important works by Pablo Picasso and Joan Miro amongst others, enjoyed exceptional demand and were sold almost as soon as they could be collected and transported to the gallery. Due to the seasonal nature of key auctions in leading Auction Houses such as Christie’s and Sotheby’s, secondary market works frequently experience phenomenal demand however supply remains incredibly limited. It is therefore of vital importance that Grove Square seizes the next opportunity to acquire Secondary Market works to fulfil the growing appetite its clients and investors have for this valuable sector of the market. It is Grove Square’s expectation that these new acquisitions will prove even more popular and disappear just as quickly. Serena Dunn, Grove Square Galleries’ Art Director had the following to say about their recent blue-chip success: 64
“The team and I at Grove Square Galleries have been searching the worldwide art market with a fine-tooth comb for the most exciting secondary market works to augment our stable of emerging and established artists. “After many hours of intense research, we secured an incredible new collection of 14 blue-chip master graphics which have enjoyed fantastic success through our sister company Grove Square Art Advisory with both existing and new investors alike. “Our next acquisitions from this sector will include an even wider selection of great artists. There was enormous demand for the pieces previously, and we will only see an even stronger surge when we start to add Warhol, Matisse and Chagall to our collections. “The recent economic turmoil has been weathered well by the art market, but has also seen some elusive art collectors selling off parts of their collections. This means there are some great opportunities to own works of great historical and artistic importance. “It is a very exciting time in the market with important opportunities for both art investors and art lovers alike.” Grove Square Galleries are very aware that the low supply and high demand is good for the industry but can be difficult for those looking to purchase. They recommend anybody who has an interest to get in contact and register their enquiry at www.grovesquaregalleries.com. www.HighRiseLife.com
