Into The Monsters’ Playground Newman AOR Heaven

Explosive riffs, soulful vocals and penetrating rhythms make up the thirteenth studio album from the band NEWMAN. Multi - instrumentalist, singer, songwriter STEVE NEWMAN and drummer / percussionist ROB McEWEN have put together twelve tracks on this new release. So far there are two videos available Hurricane Sky’ and Give me Tonight’ . Opening with Start This Fire, it introduces you to a taste of what you’re in for! With its powerful melody and harmonies it will get your attention quickly. With shades of FOREIGNER track 02, Timebomb, has this down n’ dirty melody turning melodic while NEWMAN seems to effortlessly breeze though another awesome solo . Track 03, Holding On, is one of my favorites .With many radio friendly tunes like Don’t Come Running To Me, Lightning Tree, and Icon, I get a sense that these two share the same focus and work wonderfully together. Returning to their love of metal is possibly their heaviest tune, track 09, Into The Monster’s Playground. NEWMAN’s guitar solo really takes you to another place! Recorded between the summer of 2020 and the spring of 2021, INTO THE MONSTERS’ PLAYGROUND is available now. (Info: http://www.newmansound.com/)

A View From The Top Of The World Dream Theater

InsideOutMusic / Sony Music

Progressive metal masters DREAM THEATER have just finished recording their fifteenth album, A View From The Top Of The World. Members include lead vocalist JAMES LABRIE, guitarist JOHN PETRUCCI, keyboardist JORDAN RUDESS, bassist JOHN MYUNG, and drummer MIKE MANGINI. Bursting into track 01 is The Alien. With a haunting, lightning fast riff combined with precise drum work and vocals unmistakably from LABRIE, you know you’re in for the duration. The piece goes through many changes. Multi - time signatures is something we’ve come to expect from them and with a time signature of 23/8, the intro is no exception. This piece alone is no less than nine minutes. Melodic and thunderous riffs are abundant in track two Answering The Call then delicately followed by Track 03, Invisible Monster. Track 04, Sleeping Giant. RUDESS has chosen the ‘Valente Electro Mechanical piano’ for the intro. Please refrain from tapping your foot, it could cause injury. This takes us into track 06, Awaken The Master. PETRUCCI’s abstract riffs are simply incredible! Which brings us into the final track A View From The Top Of The World. Majestic movie soundtrack type horns and military beats begin, morph into a fast galloping instrumental passage then into LABRIE’s vocals . You can tell something is building. The multi - faceted tune comes in at twenty minutes and has a very unusual ending. There is no band like DREAM THEATER. A View From The Top Of The World contains seven mesmerizing tracks. With 70 minutes of music, how they are going to perform this masterpiece? I don’t know, but I can’t wait to find out! The album is scheduled to be released October 22 2021.
