Tragedy

In 1822 Georgiana Molloy’s father died his name was David Kennedy he died when a horse knocked him off and he fell on the ground dead.

First Tragedy!

When Georgiana and John went on the warrior it got really wavy and most of there supplies went over board.

Tragedy!

After there supplies got washed off the boat they had a stop at cape town to buy more supplies for there trip.

In 1830 Georgiana Molloy and John Molloy arrived at Flinders bay. The Bussel boys helped to make sure there supplies didn’t go over board again!

Triumph and Tradgedy!

When Georgiana Molloy got to the beach she met the Bussel boys and they made her the first tent for her to have her first baby Mary Elizabeth Molloy who passed away later in her birth.

When she had her first baby she called her Elizabeth Mary because she missed her sisters and their names were Elizabeth and Mary. Sadly Elizabeth Mary died because she was born in the rain and was born weak. When she was walking around she saw a beautiful flower and decided to put it on Elizabeths grave.

Georgiana Molloy’s triumphs

Georgiana Molloy is remembered as the first internationally successful botanist in Western Australia

She has specimens from two of her collections, they are archived in Kew Herbarium and Cambridge University Herbarium. Some of her letters and diaries also survived, held at the Cumbria Archive Centre.

Many new items can be seen on any technological screen in the world.

The botanical work of Georgiana Molloy comes to life vividly through the photos that are now available. Putting together the content of her diaries or letters with online sources makes it possible to trace some of her specimens from the day she collected them in the bush.
