My journey on the gold fields My life on the goldfields

People came from all over the world just to get a taste of the gold. I am 30 year old man and my name is rob jones and I came from France . I left my family at home because the adventure hear is very dangerous. The communication facilities are very poor and if I send a letter to them I wouldn’t not get a response for over a year. I came to get some money because my family is very poor . That is the reason most families are here.

You had to have all the supplies for you needed before you set off otherwise you would be always be heading back to town all the, wasting you mining time and the chances of you finding gold would be put at risk. Some mines were a couple of days away.

you have to decide to mine alluvial or shaft. Alluvial mining is when you mine near water ways it is easier than shaft mining where you have dig and dig for hours and hours. Both ways are very hard work.

There is plenty of mutton on the gold fields but it goes off very fast

All the hard work pays off when you find gold and make yourself rich

Gold, gold and more gold The next few weeks gold just kept coming my way and I was becoming richer and richer every day. The work becomes less annoying with the friends I have made and I am getting faster and faster at mining so I am finding gold faster.

My life after the gold rush After the gold rush I became rich and now my family and I go to fancy places and schools and we are very lucky to be able to afford a property, fly my family over from france and stay and live in Australia. I kept mining quietly and found plenty of gold to last us years. Life was sure tough before the gold rush but it was worth it after
