I will continue to work hard to retain the unique character of BISD and to not become just another extension of San Antonio.
It has been an honor to serve as the Boerne ISD trustee for Place 2 since 2016, as well as board president last year. If re-elected, I will continue my record of fiscal conservatism and working with our administration and board to set high expectations and achieve them. I will continue to work hard to retain the unique character of BISD and to not become just another extension of San Antonio. A short list of our recent achievements includes: HEB Best Small School District in Texas; Region 20 School Board of the Year; being one of the first districts in Texas to open this school year and offering both in-person and on-line options; building, opening and staffing three new campuses to serve our growing population; expanding our athletic and academic course offerings; approving some of the largest pay and benefit raises for our teachers our district has ever approved; being one of only 373 districts in the U.S. and Canada to receive the AP District Honor Roll award; as well as many other
accolades. We have done all of this while decreasing taxes to their lowest level in at least 15 years. These are not my accomplishments but they are the accomplishments of our administration, teachers, support staff, parents and students. Nevertheless, I believe board leadership is critical to set the conditions where our amazing staff and students can excel. I am a graduate of Boerne High School, Texas A&M University as an undergraduate and received my PhD from the University of Maryland. I spent eight years as a Marine Corps officer and own a business in Boerne. My wife and I are the proud parents of four children who, so far, have attended five of our district schools. I am committed to continue working hard so that our great district gets even better. My record shows a consistent commitment to exceptional achievement, fiscal conservatism and preserving the unique characteristics of our district and community. I believe that now, more than ever, we need community support, parent involvement and professional educators to come together to address pandemic learning loss.
After much reflection, prayer and family support I am excited to announce I have resumed my campaign for Boerne ISD School Board of Trustee. Previously, my family and I made the difficult decision to pause my campaign to deal with a personal matter. We faced the complicated reality that our son, like many other children during the pandemic, was facing academic challenges. Before we could proceed with my campaign, we had to ensure our son had the educational support system necessary to overcome and survive these challenges. We have secured additional help and his academic spirit is improving. On February 12, I submitted my candidacy for Place 2. Considering the current candidates in Place 3 are well-positioned and qualified, I find Place 2 the
best opportunity for me to serve. I have chosen to run because I believe that now, more than ever, we need community support, parent involvement and professional educators to come together to address pandemic learning loss. As a Trustee, I will suggest we establish working committees to develop a framework of goals to ensure all students are operating at grade-level standards with an emphasis on social-emotional development. I look forward to applying my passion for public education, policy experience and commitment to ensure every child continues to receive the highest quality of public school education.
