Welcome back to our annual Caravan celebration. Each year, our students showcase all that they have learned about our world and its inherent connections. Our focus this year has been on Canada and the fact that we need to look no further than our own front door to celebrate diversity. Canadian diversity comes in many forms, be it cultural heritage, geography, zoology or the traditions of our nation.
An understanding of cultural or ecological diversity is a fundamental goal of our Montessori curriculum. An appreciation for other peoples in particular helps our students build an awareness of our similarities and an honouring of our differences. This will form a foundation of knowledge that will assist them in dealing with our world’s environmental and inequity challenges.
This beautiful land we call Canada has a vast array of landscapes, wildlife and waters. Today we celebrate not just our peoples but also the land that shelters, inspires and sustains us as Canadians.
