Some of the changes include a new name (Fork & Fun), a more user-friendly design and a new website (www.forkandfun.com). Bluffton and the surrounding area is home to hundreds of restaurants, ranging from high-end hideaways to delightful diners and dives. If you want it, we’ve got it. Chefs from all corners of the world have brought the best American, French, German, Indian, Italian, Mediterranean, Greek, Asian, Mexican and Southwestern cuisine right here to our paradise. You can also enjoy regional fare such as local seafood and farm-to-table restaurants. Have you ever heard of Lowcountry cuisine? That’s our specialty. Favorites such as She-Crab Soup, Brunswick Stew, Shrimp and Grits, Lowcountry Boil and Frogmore Stew were born here. The beauty of the local dining scene is that there are options for every pocketbook. You can spend $5 on the best pulled-pork sandwich you’ve ever eaten or you can drop $32 on champagne poached scallops sure to please even the most finicky critic. The trick is finding all these great restaurants. As you may have noticed, Bluffton and Hilton Head doesn’t look like your average tourist destination. Many regulations protect the area’s natural beauty. As a result, the lack of signs can make the region difficult to navigate, especially when it’s dark outside around dinner time. That’s where this guide comes in. Inside you will find locations, descriptions and several menus from the best restaurants Bluffton and the surrounding area has to offer. Specializing in Authentic Southern Cuisine Cahill’s Market and “Chicken Kitchen” is owned and operated by third and fourth generation Blufftonians. We are located on the scenic May River Road in Bluffton, South Carolina – one mile west of Historic Old Town. Located on property purchased by Grandma Cahill in 1918, we contin continue to be a working farm. In-season vegetables are grown throughout the year. Once harvested, the vegetables are sold in our country market and used in our home cooked dishes prepared in the “Chicken Kitchen.” Along with our own homegrown vegetables, Cahill’s Market stocks in-season produce from local and regional suppliers. We have a large selection of Vidalia Onion dressings, sauces and pickles. The best barbecue restaurant in Medina, Ohio, has opened a second location on Hilton Head Island. Bullies BBQ owners Tammy and Bob Sutton are confident their award-winning smoked ribs, pulled pork, pulled chicken and brisket will eventually be just as famous here as they are back in the Snowbelt. “We’ve only got five items on the menu and they’re all great,” said Bob Sutton, who cooks all the food himself. “We’re giving a different-sized portion than what people are used to down here; a healthy portion for a reasonable price.” A pulled pork or a pulled chicken sandwich will set you back

Fiddlehead Pizza

Think global, eat local. Fiddlehead Pizza is the only pizza restaurant in Beaufort County that is “Certified South Carolina – Fresh on the Menu,” meaning it uses at least 25 percent of local products or ingredients. Owners Stacey and Darren Macioszek say they are close to 45 percent. The décor of the restaurant is from here as well, painted and designed by local artists. About the only thing that isn’t true to South Carolina is the unique crust, which originated in Naples, Italy. With a blend of two different yeasts and microflora, it has a bubbly look, a slightly tangy flavor and can be covered with red or white sauces. With six cold taps, Fiddlehead Pizza offers an ever-changing selection of draught beer, many from South Carolina breweries. The restaurant has also quickly developed into a hotspot for live music, starting at 8 p.m. each Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The party continues until the last customer leaves. A new upscale Italian restaurant has opened in the Village at Wexford. Longtime local Italian chef Michael Cirafesi has branched out with distinguished Philadelphia chef Nunzio Patruno to open Ombra Cucina Rustica. “All executive chefs want to eventually open their own restaurant,” Cirafesi said. “We all have that dream. We follow the rules of classic Italian cuisine. We will be set apart by our standards and who we are.” Cirafesi started cooking in 1987 under Patruno, who was considered one of the top Italian chefs in the country. The two have completely remodeled the building where Antonio’s was located, creating an environment similar to a rustic Tuscan farmhouse. The word ombra is Venetian for a small glass of wine. Cucina rustica means rustic cuisine. As the name implies, Ombra Cucina Rustica offers an extensive Italian wine list and serves cuisine from the Old World using innovative cooking techniques. Chef Cirafesi makes all his own desserts, pastries and pastas. All fish come from either the Mediterranean or the Adriatic. The restaurant also features a Venetian style bar and lounge. Most know Tim Singleton as a former standout player and coach for the local high school football team. In December, the native islander teamed up with his mother, Deborah Goban, to open a unique Southern-style restaurant on the north end. Ruby Lee’s, named in honor of Singleton’s grandmother, is the island’s newest hotspot for sports, blues and soul food. “I get excited just talking about it,” Singleton said. “We’re making everything fresh, to-order. And with us being on the north end of the island, we are able to offer it at an affordable price.
