MM-2 Thermal Cycling tests The Hi-Lux MM-2 passed extensive thermal cycling tests at Alexander Arms testing Facility on the semi-automatic ULFBERHT .338 Lapua Magnum rifle. The entire system, Ulfbehrt and serially mounted MM-2s, was frozen for 12 hours at -85 Fahrenheit (-65 Celsius). After shooting 200 rounds of Black Hills 300 grain HPBT ammo, both MM-2 sights held zero, with good red dot visibility and functioning adjustments. The system was then thermal cycled with fully functioning adjustment and controls to 185 Fahrenheit (85 Celsius).

Leatherwood ART System Long range shooting is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to your bullet’s caliber, grain, temperature, Corrialis Effect, and atmospheric conditions. When in fight or flight response, most people struggle with basic mental and mechanical operations whether counting clicks based upon Data Observed from Previous Engagements (D.O.P.E.) or mentally calculating distance in yards by milling. Any delay or mental error leads to unfilled tags at the end of a hunt, or imminent death in tactical warfare. 2nd Lieutenant James Leatherwood (US Army) understood this problem – he wanted to design a system that was simple and fast in stressful conditions. In fact, he had already begun prototyping his ART (Auto Ranging Trajectory) system in the 1960’s to simplify and combine range finding with Bullet Drop Compensation.
Unused to the jungle terrain the US suffered heavy casualties to guerilla warfare tactics. Utilizing the mountain’s rocky outcroppings as cover, VietCong snipers would routinely fire down into US Army firebases. While this annoyed and angered most servicemen in the camps, Jim Leatherwood was brimming with excitement. Looking to test his early Leatherwood ARTEL prototype, he grabbed his M14 service rifle and stormed into the tropical battlefield. Hours later, Jim triumphantly returned. “That son of a gun won’t be bothering us anymore!” Utilizing this system, average shooters transformed into sharpshooters, able to quickly and accurately engage targets at unknown distances. Born out of necessity and refined in trial by fire, Leatherwood Optics continues its legacy of excellence. Rugged, feature-rich, reliable optics for hunting and shooting optics from the Past, Present, to Future!

Top Angle Series The needs of left handed shooters are neglected in today’s optical market. Adjusting parallax forces most left hand shooters out of the shooting position, typically to turn the side parallax turret with their off hand. This momentary lapse of attention down range or field could be the difference between unused tags or a full winter meat supply. The Leatherwood Hi-Lux Top Angle series features an ergonomically placed parallax turret (US Patent # US 7626760). Regardless of left or right hand preference, shooters can ambidextrously adjust parallax without removing trigger fingers or sight down range. Get on target quicker with the Top Angle.
Features Waterproof O-ring seals prevent dust, debris or moisture from penetrating the scope.
PermaCoat The wear resistant black anodized coat protects the scope exterior from scratches.

M40 DUAL FOCAL PLANE Series In 1965, the U.S. Marine Corps began its search for a new rifle and scope combo to serve as their official combat sniper rifle. The goal was to have USMC armorers customize readily available production rifles for better accuracy. The Corps settled on the Remington Model 40x, a premium grade of the Model 700, chambered for the .308 Winchester (a.k.a. 7.62 NATO) cartridge, and topped it with a commercially available 3-9x40mm variable power hunting scope that featured a simple and easy to learn ranging system. The rifle was designated the M40.

Take the guesswork out of long range shots! The M40 Tactical Hunter incorporates the dual focal plane Accu Ranging system reminiscent of Vietnam War era riflescopes. In addition this scope has a BDC reticle for 223 and 308 in the second focal plane for quick holdovers at 9X.
M40USMC39x40 Green M40USMC39X40 Reminscent of the Vietnam War era green scopes, the M40USMC 39X40 has a green anodized coat and Accu-Ranging Reticle. By combining the second focal plane reticle with the range indicator in the first focal plane, the M40 USMC 3-9X40 returns the approximate range to a 18” target in the lower right quadrant.

William Malcolm Vintage Telescopic Riflescopes William Malcolm, one of the first names in American rifle optics, introduced his ½ and ž inch tube riflescopes in 1855. His innovation and vision is embodied in our Wm. Malcolm Vintage Telescopic Riflescope series. Classic 19th and 20th century rifles deserve a scope with period-correct styling. Combining the looks, mounting solutions and adjustments of the originals with modern manufacturing processes such as multi-coating and precision CNC machining, the Wm Malcolm vintage scopes are a perfect match.

M73G4 Series To fulfill the need for WWII sniper rifles, in 1942 the U.S. Army adopted the M1903A4 as the first standardized U.S. sniper rifle. This version of the Remington M1903A3 came without a rear sight, and had been fitted with a 3/4-inch diameter Weaver 330C 2.5x riflescope, designated the M73B1, mounted with a one-piece base and rings produced by Redfield. Our goal was to bring to the CMP Vintage Sniper Match competitor a top quality scope that matches or surpasses the performance of the WWII original scopes on the M1903A4 sniper rifles. By designing a superior optical system and internal mechanisms, the Hi-Lux M73G4 combines cutting edge, bright optics with the Weaver 330C’s classic design.

This base is drilled for recommended sizes 6-48 screws (not included) and can be used with either a round or octagon barrel. If a base that sits flush on the barrel is desired for an octagon barrel, the M050UB-FD can be purchased separately. This base is also drilled for 6-48 screws (not included). If pre-existing holes in the rifle do match the holes drilled in the base, the M050UB-B is required. This base is blank and allows holes to be drilled to match those already drilled in the barrel.
DOVETAIL BLOCKS FOR LONG MALCOLM REAR MOUNT (DB0500 & DB0625) Some rifles have larger dovetail cuts compared to the standard 3/8”. We have two additional dovetail block to replace the 3/8” dovetail block that comes with the Long Malcolm Model. Available are block sizes 1/2” and 5/8” (or 0.625”).
HIGHER FRONT RING (M634LHF) This ring is designed for the Long Malcolm scope only. It will replace the standard ring that comes with the scope. A 3/8” dovetail cut is required and it raises the front of the scope up 1/4”.
FINE ELEVATION ADJUSTMENT SET (FEASET) This three-piece accessory is designed to attach to the standard rear Long Malcolm mount. This allows the shooter to adjust the elevation by turning the screw up or down.
MARLIN 94/95 MOUNT (M9495MT) This two-piece mount is designed for the Short Malcolm scopes to be mounted on a Marlin 94 or 95 rifle. The mount uses the pre-existing screw holes and rear dovetail cut. Mounting screws are included.
FINE ELEVATION ADJUSTMENT SET (FEASET) This three-piece accessory is designed to attach to the standard rear Long Malcolm mount. This allows the shooter to adjust the elevation by turning the screw up or down.
SHILOH FRONT MOUNT AND REAR BLOCK (SHIDTSET) The front mount and rear block set are designed so the Long Malcolm scope can be mounted on some of today’s Shiloh and C. Sharps rifles. The front mount uses the front dovetail cut measuring approximately 0.453”, and the rear block fits the rear dovetail block measuring approximately 0.486”. Two holes may need to be drilled and tapped for the rear block. Mounting screws not included.
OFF-SET PLATE WITH 1/2” 60° BASE MOUNT (OSPWB) This mount is designed for the Short Malcolm scopes only. If more clearance is needed for the hammer, and a specialized mount is overkill, two of these mounts may be a simple fix. Measuring 1/2” tall, these mounts move the scope a 1/4” to the left. Enough for proper clearance, but not so much that the shooter is uncomfortable. These mounts are drilled for 8-40 screws (not included), sold individually, and can only be used with an octagon barrel.
