PROJECT TYPE : Office Design CLIENT: LIVSPACE LOCATION : Pearl Academy, New Delhi AREA: 529 sq. meter BRIEF : To create an office for LIVSPACE REQUIREMENTS : • Reception • Library • Cafe • Studio • Manager’s Area • Regional manager’s area • Online customer care • Logistics people CONCEPT : Taking inspiration from LAURIE BAKER’S work i have created an office with all the locally available materials in their raw form. Curves define easy and flowing circulation of the space.. Built-in seatings are an addition to the space giving emplyees informal breakouts.

INTERACTION BETWEEN PEARL AND LIVSPACE :

MATERIALS USED:

CLAY BRICKS (on the back wall)

FLY ASH BRICKS (curved partitions are made of these bricks)

CONCRETE (used on the floor)

RAW WOOD (panelling on columns)

INTYPES: The INTYPES ( Interior Archetypes) are a set of interior design practices that are derived from the historical application time to time. Using intypes in an office project, helped me to link different spaces. Thus, leading to a more sorted and simplified design. BIFURCATED PLAN :

Regional managers

There is a link between hierarchy and a separation between their spaces at the same time.

Managers

Studio

This intype integrates two spaces with a common bridge. There is a separation as well as connection between two different areas at the same time. But, in my design i have used a common space to connect two spaces. The meeting area between managers space and the studio is one example of the same.

FURNITURE

In my design, the spaces are alligned according to their level of privacy, which is maintained by giving circular descending walls and not doors. Each space has its own privacy and exposure. That change from one space to another because of change in materials and composition is referred as transactional space.

RETAIL PROJECT

YEAR2SEMIV

PROJECT TYPE : Retail Design CLIENT: LEGO LOCATION : Sangam Courtyard, New Delhi AREA: 228 sq. meter BRIEF: To create retail outlet for LEGO REQUIREMENTS: • Display • Reception • Waiting Lounge • Storage • Pantry • Circulation CONCEPT : From the selection of the brand to the display of it’s furniture, we had to design a complete retail store in the mall. Geometrical, colorful and symmetrical , like legos are, I have taken these elements and tried to create an environment with same look and feel. The store is basically divided into 2 zonesfunctional and display area.

14

ZONING : Circulation + functional area Gold display Platinum display

RIGHT The circulation path to the platinumzone goes through the gold zone. Thus, creating forceful circulation.

LEFT Entering the store one see’s shelves of color scheme of logo which depicts the display of the store. Also, the block patterned stained glass windows on the mezzanine forms a pattern on the floor when sunlight penetrates.

7 RIGHT Mezzanine Plan 6- Kids area 7- Artifacts display

CIRCULATION • There is a forced circulation from gold display leading to the platinum display of the store. • As a person passing by the store will be able to see only the platinum display, will want to reach out and thus, has to go through all the displays one by one. • There is a huge area kept empty at the entrance to avoid crowd and will also have the shadows formed by the stained colored glass from the mezannine. • The whole concept of this retail store was to give a lavish, wide and playful environment at the same time. 16

GOLD DISPLAY : LEFT 3rd platform. Crib with an armchair .

BOTTOM • The platinum display also acts as the window display through the glass wall. • The facade reflects the nature of the lego store. • Also, Lego works on geometric patterns and a set scheme of colors.

LEFT 2nd platform. Crib displayed with storage.

TOP 1st platform. Playfull setup of the room with a featured wall.

HOSPITALITY PROJECT YEAR2SEMIV

PROJECT TYPE : State Guest House Design CLIENT: NAGALAND LOCATION : Gurgaon AREA: 325 sq. meter BRIEF: Designing a guest house for NAGALAND. REQUIREMENTS: • Reception • cafe • Back of House (BOH) • Conference room • House keeping • Guest rooms CONCEPT : Creating NAGALAND’s look-alike guest house in Gurgaon was a challenge. Nagaland’s Architecture is more about using raw materails and locally available techniques. They still hold on to their traditional beliefs. This guest house is made keeping in mind- their privacy, habits, requirements and their relationship with nature.

FIRST FLOOR PLAN 20

SECOND FLOOR PLAN 21

ZONING: Zoning goes from pubic floor (ground) to semi public (first) to private (second). All the floors have washrooms on the back right corner. Lift on right side and opposite lift is the service staircase.

SECOND :There are 5 types of rooms - standard single, standard double, standard twin, family suite and executive suite.

FIRST : 1 Conference room, 2 meeting rooms and house keeping. Conference room is given one attatched balcony as a breakout space for the people. Both the meeting rooms have been placed together so in the case of large meetings, the center wall can be collapsed and converted into a big meeting room. GROUND : There are 2 entries to the space - one for the guests from the reception area. Second, for the outsiders into the cafe from the foyer.

N BALCONY : In the center of each floor is a balcony, that can act as a break out space for the first floor as well as second foor.

SUNLIGHT: The back wall of the site recieves a good amount of sunlight. So, i have given all the major opeings like glass windows from floor to ceiling in the N cafe area.

Openings in cafe like these towards the backyard.

CONCEPT DIRECTION Bamboo mat used in flooring

Furniture mde from raw materials.

Joints in the ceiling of the cafe using bamboo.

Cloth of nagaland shawls used for decorative purpose.

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT VENTILATION RICH IN CULTURE RAW MATERIAL HORNBILL FESTIVAL SPLIT BAMBOO

23

FACADE :

The facade of this state guest house has been kept simple with bamboo cladding on the first floor. Also, the windows are done in the traditional nagalnd technique using red mesh, bamboo and post. (wattle and doub)

CAFE/ DINING HALL: The cafe is built on a raised platform of +750mm above from the floor level of the ground floor. Nagaland huts are usually made on a raised platform because of the weather conditions.

False roof wiith bamboo sticks is created- sunlight will create patterns in the cafe.

24

Bamboo mat on the floor further defines nagaland as this is one of their craft.
