BRIEF : To create an office for LIVSPACE REQUIREMENTS : • • • • • • •

CONCEPT :
Taking inspiration from LAURIE BAKER’S work i have created an office with all the locally available materials in their raw form. Curves define easy and flowing circulation of the space.. Built-in seatings are an addition to the space giving emplyees informal break-outs.

INTERACTION BETWEEN PEARL AND LIVSPACE :
MATERIALS USED:
CLAY BRICKS (on the back wall)
FLY ASH BRICKS (curved partitions are made of these bricks)
CONCRETE (used on the floor)
RAW WOOD (panelling on columns)
INTYPES:
The INTYPES ( Interior Archetypes) are a set of interior design practices that are derived from the historical application time to time. Using intypes in an office project, helped me to link different spaces. Thus, leading to a more sorted and simplified design. BIFURCATED PLAN :
Regional managers
This intype integrates two spaces with a common bridge. There is a separation as well as connection between two different areas at the same time. But, in my design i have used a common space to connect two spaces. The meeting area between managers space and the studio is one example of the same. There is a link between hierarchy and a separation between their spaces at the same time.
Managers
Studio
TRANSACTIONAL SPACE : In my design, the spaces are alligned according to their level of privacy, which is maintained by giving circular descending walls and not doors. Each space has its own privacy and exposure. That change from one space to another because of change in materials and composition is referred as transactional space.

HERITAGE ADAPTIVE REUSE
PROJECT TYPE : Heritage building reuse CLIENT: WATSON HOTEL
LOCATION : Kala Ghoda, Mumbai AREA: 750 sq. meter
BRIEF : To create an office for LIVSPACE REQUIREMENTS : • • • • •
Mini Theaters ( 4 small theaters and 3 large theaters ) Ticket counters Cafe ( for 20-25 people) Library Live art room
CONCEPT :
The idea is to develope a space inspired from the history. The best way to restore a heritage building is to recreate it with same historical significance. This was the first place to witness film screening in India. Thus, I’ve created small theaters with a cafe. People can watch short films in small groups. Also, an art inspired space has been created for the people attending Art Night Thursday.

LEFT SPATIAL PLAN- GROUND FLOOR
Entering into a reception with ticket booths, one can directly see the theater on the opposite side. Also, the staircase to the mezzanine floor is visible, forcing one to go upstairs .
N
RIGHT MEZZANINE
The cafe upsatirs has a simple and basic layout with seating and a small counter at the back side. The sunlight will filter through the glass arc shaped ceiling.
N
CIRCULATION :
Functionalality :
The small theaters will have different screens in rooms but the short film will be playing at the same time. So, there will be no sound clashing. Thus, no sound proofing. The theaters have informal seating like swings, bean bags, step seating etc.
18
There is a direct exit for theater 1, as the screen will be foldable.
PRIMARY PURPOSE : THEATER INSPIRATION :
Lumiere brothers’ Cinematograph invention : Watson Hotel was the first place in India to screen the Lumiere Brothers’ invention. On 7th july,1896 people gathered in the Watson Hotel’s attrium and witnessed the screening. After this incident, the luxurious hotel became more significant. Because it was only-whites building, it is said that Indians were not known to this fact. And thus, they didn’t attended the screening.
SECONDARY PURPOSE : ART NIGHT THURSDAY EXTENSION The last spot to cover in this walking tour can be Watson Hotel. People could sit here and have art related discussions and also this can be accompanied by a short art film screened at the hotel. This will further add value to the heritage building as it will become a mandate in ART NIGHT THURSDAY.
The attrium ( ground floor) will be used as an extension to the walk. Also, a live art room with canvas wall has been provided for the visitors.
Cafe is the main highlight og the area.

RETAIL PROJECT YEAR2SEMIV
PROJECT TYPE : Retail Design CLIENT: LEGO
LOCATION : Sangam Courtyard, New Delhi AREA: 228 sq. meter
BRIEF: To create retail outlet for LEGO REQUIREMENTS: • Display • Reception • Waiting Lounge • Storage • Pantry • Circulation
CONCEPT :
From the selection of the brand to the display of it’s furniture, we had to design a complete retail store in the mall. Geometrical, colorful and symmetrical , like legos are, I have taken these elements and tried to create an environment with same look and feel. The store is basically divided into 2 zones- functional and display area.

The circulation path to the platinumzone goes through the gold zone. Thus, creating forceful circulation.

CIRCULATION
• There is a forced circulation from gold display leading to the platinum display of the store. • As a person passing by the store will be able to see only the platinum display, will want to reach out and thus, has to go through all the displays one by one. • There is a huge area kept empty at the entrance to avoid crowd and will also have the shadows formed by the stained colored glass from the mezannine. • The whole concept of this retail store was to give a lavish, wide and playful environment at the same time.

SECOND :There are 5 types of rooms -
standard single, standard double, standard twin, family suite and executive suite.
FIRST : 1 Conference room, 2 meeting

GROUND : There are 2 entries to the space
- one for the guests from the reception area. Second, for the outsiders into the cafe from the foyer.
N
BALCONY : In the center of each floor
is a balcony, that can act as a break out space for the first floor as well as second foor.

FACADE : The facade of this state guest house has been kept simple with bamboo cladding on the first floor. Also, the windows are done in the traditional nagalnd technique using red mesh, bamboo and post. (wattle and doub)
CAFE/ DINING HALL: The cafe is built on a raised platform of +750mm above from the floor level of the ground floor. Nagaland huts are usually made on a raised platform because of the weather conditions.
False roof wiith bamboo sticks is created- sunlight will create patterns in the cafe.
Bamboo mat on the floor further defines nagaland as this is one of their craft.
