Legends finish strong in overall

Mindanao State University - General Santos City officially closed its Intramurals 2024 alongside the 51st founding anniversary celebration at the University Gymnasium on October 15, where the Senior High School (SHS) Legends proudly secured eighth place overall.

The gymnasium resonated with cheers as the closing program kicked off with a parade of banners representing all colleges and departments.

Dr. Norman Ralph Isla, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, praised the event, stating, “If not one of the best, it is the best in the region.”

He also announced that October 16 would be a rest day for administrators and staff, while October 16-20 would serve as an official academic break for faculty and students.

As the festivities drew to a close, students from various colleges and departments eagerly anticipated an exciting lineup of performances during Students’ Night.

Legends’ unwavering spirit

This year’s event marked a significant milestone for the department, demonstrating that, despite being the youngest participants, they possess remarkable talent and resilience.

As the event concluded, the Legends were already looking ahead, inspired to build on their success and continue to shine in the years to come.

The opening program began with a parade competition featuring the College of Education (COEd), College of Engineering (COE), College of Business Administration and Accountancy (CBAA), College of Social Sciences and Humanities (CSSH), College of Agriculture (COA), College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics (CNSM), College of Fisheries (COF), Senior High School Department (SHS), School of Graduate Studies (SGS), College of Law (COL), College of Medicine (COM), and the debut of the Institute of Islamic, Arabic, and International Studies (IIAIS).

Following the parade, Supreme Student Council (SSC) President Leonard Tucjayao delivered the opening remarks, emphasizing the university’s role as a transformative and resilient institution that sets the standard for national development and peacebuilding.

“It speaks to our university’s evolving role as an institution of higher learning that is not only committed to academic excellence but also deeply rooted in the vision of fostering peace and unity,” Tucjayao stressed.

Meanwhile, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Dr. Norman Ralph Isla shared his thoughts, highlighting the unique significance of the university’s annual intramurals.

After Isla’s speech, the departments showcased their respective banners and college shirts, which were part of the novelty award competitions.

Subsequently, the Mass Dance competition began, showcasing the unique colors and talents of each department through spectacular performances.

The program continued with the highly anticipated torchlighting ceremony, highlighting the unified spirit of MSUGenSan, followed by a fireworks display that surprised and delighted everyone, prompting cheers of excitement.
