Dar AlUloom University The Architecture Program has achieved the Substantial Equivalency of NAAB, the National Architectural Accrediting Board The Architecture Department in the College of Architectural Engineering and Digital Design, atDar AlUloom University, has achieved the Substantial Equivalency of the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) for 6 years starting from January 2018. NAAB is the sole agency authorized to accredit professional degrees in architecture in the United States . The NAAB, occasionally evaluates the international programs outside the US to determine whether they are substantially equivalent to the American NAAB- accredited programs. The NAAB process with the DAU to achieve the Substantial Equivalency took three visits through four years, during which the Department had a unique opportunity to share knowledge and experience with high-qualified academic and professional visiting teams. NAAB Visitor Professor Schwartz operated the first visit in April 2014; he is the Dean of the College of Architecture at Wisconsin University. After the success of visit one, the second visit was conducted in April 2016 by a NAAB team headed by Mr. Michael Stanton, a highly experienced practicing architect and Prof. Katherine Lee Shwennsen, the Dean of school of Architecture at Clemson University. After the success of visit two, NAAB conducted the third and final visit in November 2018 through a team headed by Prof. David Mohney, Dean, of the Michael Graves College, Kean University, along with the team members, Architect Denis Henmi, Arch. Janet Hanson and Arch. Nicole K. Gerou . The final and third visit was very successful and the Program of Architecture at Dar AlUloom University has proved its well-prepared academic school with excellent physical, human, and financial resources, which can enable the program to graduate professional architects who can successfully participate in the National Planning and development policy in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. By achieving the Substantial Equivalency of NAAB, Dar AlUloom University is the first private university in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia getting this prestigious recognition, and the third on the National scale.
