40 Years of Dedication and Passion

October2022 marks Hindman’s 40th anniversary, making this our Ruby Anniversary as a firm. I cannot think of a more fitting gem to mark the occasion. Throughout history, rubies have represented dedication and passion, two things I believe are the driving force behind Hindman’s success.

At Hindman, we are committed to providing the most client-centric services in the industry. Our 16 locations across the country enable us to provide local service coast to coast, while utilizing our international reach to engage sellers and buyers around the world. This personal approach is unrivaled in the industry—each of our clients feel like there is a person at Hindman dedicated to their success.

I am constantly in awe of our team of more than 160 auction professionals whose passion for fine art, jewelry, collectibles, antiques, and the myriad of other items we sell is unparalleled. Our specialists average 18 years of experience in their area of expertise. Still, every day, I see them excited about the property that makes its way to our auction block—they’re not only great at what they do, but they love doing it.

Building off the back of this dedication and passion, the firm realized its best-ever start to a year in 2022. From January 1 through the end of June, we held 67 auctions and saw an incredible 188% increase in first half performance over the last five years. Plus, we averaged an 89% sell-through rate by lot and 156% sell-through rate by value across all departments during this time period.

Additionally, I am especially thrilled to announce that Hindman is expanding into the Northeast and South Florida. We will open a saleroom in the heart of the art world in New York, NY, and an office in Boston, MA, with exciting new hires in both cities. Further, we will solidify our presence in Florida with a new office in Miami and new senior fine art, jewelry, and decorative arts specialists who will join our already robust team in Naples and Palm Beach, making this Hindman’s second largest market after our hometown in Illinois.

The auction world may have changed a great deal since Leslie Hindman held her first sale 40 years ago, but the core values of our firm have not. We never rest on our laurels, and continue to expand into new markets and categories, while maintaining our client-focused approach. With an exciting series of auctions slated for this fall, I am looking forward not only to another remarkable end of year result, but to another 40 years of bringing incredible art, jewelry, and more to our loyal clients.

Yours sincerely,
