Paris: Societe de Propagation des Livres d’Art, 1904. 4to, contemporary 1/2 green morocco by Devarenne, 5 raised bands, gilt titles to spine, original wrappers bound in, top edge gilt. One of 25 “exemplaires nominatifs” printed on Japon paper, this one presented to “Monsieur J. Duval.” With 34 illustrations and decorations by Carlos Schwabe, of which 14 are full-page hand-colored woodcuts, including the front cover. Very minor foxing on the binder’s blank endleaves; one endleaf with a neatly repaired tear; moderate fading to spine; otherwise the interior is clean and bright. A fine copy. $2,500-3,500
