Medium Persuasive Writing Persuasive letter: exposition Why I Should Be Class Captain You are going to write a persuasive exposition in the form of a letter telling your teacher why you should be class captain. Think about the qualities that you believe a good class captain should have. Then consider the qualities you feel you have and write to persuade your teacher to agree with your point of view. I’m a good leader.
I care about people.
I think I’m fun to be around.
Before you start writing think about: • how you will state clearly the reason you are writing this letter • your arguments for why you would make a good class captain and how
you will support them • how you will summarise your arguments in the most persuasive way possible.
Be sure to: • use scrap paper to brainstorm your arguments and do a rough draft. You
might like to revisit pages 6–10 to help with your planning • use words that will persuade the reader • write using present tense • start a new paragraph for each new point you make in support of your
argument • write your letter about why you should be class captain on the next page. Persuasive letter: exposition

Before you start writing think about: • who you are trying to convince to buy this milkshake • the unique selling points of this new shake • how you will set out your advertisement • what persuasive words you will use in the heading and first lines to catch the reader’s attention • arguments for why this milkshake is so good and not to be missed • how you will summarise your point of view in the most persuasive way possible • how you will ‘call the reader to action’. Be sure to: • use some scrap paper to plan out your advertisement. You may like to revisit pages 6–10 to help with your planning • include all the important information that should be in this advertisement • use words that will persuade the reader to try this milkshake • tempt the reader to buy with persuasive descriptions about the milkshake • write using present tense • start a new paragraph for each new point that supports your argument • fill the milkshake glass on the next page with your Mega-MilkStar! 54
