An exciting open-air market loved by residents and visitors alike has returned to Stockbridge this summer for the fourth year running.
The Neighbourgood Market, which welcomed over 80,000 visitors, plays host to some of Scotland’s best food and drink.
It will also play host to a Maker’s Market on the weekends and put on live screenings of Wimbledon, while guests will also be able to watch the finals of the Scottish Street Food Awards in July.
Open from Wednesday to Sunday, midday to 9pm, the organisers say the Neighbourgood Market will be showcasing some of Edinburgh’s best food and drink for three three-week cycles. The first cycle will include some favourites including Mimi’s Bakehouse, Innis and Gunn and Mint Wraps.
Exciting newcomers will include Wanderer’s Kneaded, Don Papa Rum, Sando and Secret Garden Distillery.
There is a variety of entertainment planned this summer, including the return of Goose’s Pub Quizzes which will take place twice a week on Wednesdays and Sundays.
Every weekend a Maker’s Market will be hosted, in partnership with Support the Makers, showcasing an array of local businesses and craft traders. A mix of locally produced goods will be on offer, including jewellery, textiles, freshly baked goods, artwork, candles, fresh meats, and much more.
A large TV screen will also return in July for Wimbledon and other sporting events and local musicians will play daily.
The Neighbourgood Market will be hosting the Scottish Street Food Awards from 19th to 23rd July. This is a new partnership and will showcase ten finalists from all over Scotland while they battle things out to be crowned the winner of Scottish Street Food.
An all-star panel will judge the overall winner while the public are encouraged to participate in the People’s Choice Award.
Both winners will then go on to compete in the British Street Food Awards in London.
Entry to the market is free during the week and £3 per person on weekends. Access is free for children at all times.
