FALLin full swing How to take on the new season

A

h, fall... The air is crisp and cool, leaves are slowly beginning to transform into rich colors of orange and red, and the sky begins to get darker much earlier as the days pass. Maybe I’m getting ahead of myself just a bit, but fall is right around the corner, and nothing feels better than being prepared to welcome a new season.

E

veryone has their own depiction of the season; changing leaves, cooler weather, beautiful colors, and anything else associated with the change. But when I think of fall, my mind immediately wanders to my closet and even little touches around my apartment.

P

ersonally, I love the changing seasons, and I thoroughly enjoy preparing my closet and home for each one; fall is by far one of my favorites to prepare for. But not everyone enjoys fall as much as I do, so I have a few suggestions for getting into the spirit if you’re having a difficult time letting go of the warm summer days.

A

s I said, the first place I start when warming up for fall is my closet. I fold up my summery clothing and pack it away until the next year, and roll out the bins of sweaters, knit scarves, and knee-high boots.

T

here are a few closet staples that I believe are essential for fall that I’ve always got hanging up and ready to go for those chilly days.

O

versized, chunky-knit sweaters are an immediate go-to for me. They’re warm, adorable, and incredibly easy to style; you can pair them with just about anything! A good, oversized

knit sweater can sometimes be a bit costly because of the amount of fabric or wool, so if you’re strapped for cash, great places to look include stores like Forever 21, H&M, and even thrift stores. With the opportunity to sift through so much merchandise at stores like these, you are bound to find something to suit your style.

A

nother fall staple that is a musthave for myself, and probably a lot of others as well, are scarves. Anything from chunky, knit scarves to lighter, free-flowing scarves will do, but they’re essential for easing yourself into the cooler weather. When shopping for this wonderful little staple, I prefer to look in stores such as H&M and Forever 21, as mentioned above, and if you’re looking for something a little more “homey” looking with a nice homemade feel to it, Etsy, a crafty, online shop that allows vendors to sell merchandise, is a fantastic place to look. If you’re not up for spending as much money, knitting your own scarves is also fabulous and much cheaper!

F

inally, another very important fall closet staple is a great pair of kneehigh, leather boots. I prefer to keep the color of the leather very neutral; either black, brown or a nice tan color, with very little embellishment. Neutraltoned boots are a great staple because of how well they can be paired with just about everything else in your closet. Now, a good pair of leather boots can reach the upper 400’s in price, and maybe even more; if you’re alright with spending the money, I suggest you make the purchase. A good pair of boots, even if they are a bit pricey, will last you for years and are well worth the cost. If you’re not in the market for something so expensive, I’ve found great boots on

sites such as Zappos, Amazon, and even eBay. Trust me when I tell you that you can never go wrong with purchasing at least one pair of leather, knee-high boots. You’ll thank yourself for that purchase when you’re rushing out the door wondering what shoes to put on with your outfit!

G

etting your closet ready for a new season is refreshing and mostly always feels great, but what better way to get into the fall spirit than some little home decorations? To prepare even further for fall, I like to add small elements of decoration here and there around my home and bedroom.

A

great place to start when it comes to decorating is fall-scented candles; campfire scents, roasted marshmallow scents, and even pumpkin scented candles are available just about everywhere during the season, and make your home smell and feel great. Another small touch for the new season are throw pillows and maybe a few extra blankets here and there. By adding decorations of red, orange, and brown around your living space, it not only feels homier, but also gets you much more prepared for the new season. Etsy, as mentioned earlier, is a great place to look for cute home decorations such as throw pillows and blankets.

G

etting ready to take on a new season can sometimes be difficult, especially when making the transition from warm to cool weather, but preparing yourself and your living space are a great way to get into the spirit, and makes the transition much easier; it may even get you excited for the change!

Ideas for

FLOORING

in your home

Y

our home is your paradise and if you are planning to renovate your home, goes for the changes that are not only eye catchy but also comfortable for you and your family. Remodeling of the home is associated with revolutions and amendments adjusted in every nook and cranny of the home. If you are going to change the flooring of your home there are some tips for flooring of different parts of you house.

There are plenty options when it comes to flooring in your bedroom. Being the most private and personalized part of your home, your bedroom is the place which grabs a big part of your budget whenever you are remodeling your home. You can use carpet, tile, hardwood, bamboo, cork or laminate. Play with different materials in different rooms. You can opt for striped light and dark shades in your boy's room so that if your son is going to create mess, which is unavoidable, the flooring can withstand the burden. Also the flooring can bear heavy traffic of the folks coming in the bedroom. For more powerful scratch and water resistant flooring you can choose laminate.

It is the most used part that withholds most of the traffic coming in and out of the house. It is highly recommended that the flooring should be strong enough that it can endure all such amendments done with your furniture or to the increasing and decreasing ratio of visitors. For this purpose you can opt for hardwood flooring. Being classy and sophisticated in look it is the perfect choice for your living room whenever you are remodeling your home.

Design the floor of your kitchen in such a way that it not only looks pretty but also gives a practical impression. You can choose from vinyl, tile, natural stone, wood, cork or laminate. A floor covering that is water resistant and durable such as tile is a best choice to protect against potential water damage. Make sure when you choose your floor to order a little extra of the product in the event that you drop something like a pot on your floor. If the flooring material is damaged, you will be sure to have enough to repair the floor because often floor manufacturers have high turnover of their products to insure a continual buying cycle. Most flooring contractors add 5-10% additional square footage of the flooring product to their purchase order to insure they have enough for the project and to provide the client with a little extra flooring for future use.
