In a World of Wonders

When I consider the work of Your fingers, The moon and the stars, which You have ordained, Oh Lord, our Lord, in all the earth, How majestic is Your name!

The expanse of the heavens tells of Your glory; By Your word, all their hosts were made. You gather the waters of the sea together, You still the roaring, the roaring of their waves. You have made summer and winter, Your have prepared the light and the sun; You established the mountains by Your strength, For You spoke, and it was done.

You set the earth on its foundations; You enrich and abundantly water its furrows, The beasts of the field quench their thirst there; The birds of the sky nest by the waters.

How many and great are Your works, oh Lord! In Your infinite wisdom, You made them all; Heaven and earth are in awe of You, And all its creatures, both great and small!

(Psalm 104:19)

“He made the moon to mark the seasons, and the sun knows when to go down.”

Matthew 16:25-26:

"For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?"

This scripture pretty much sums up the importance of being saved. For those people that go through life and do what they want, just know that there are consequences. If you deny Jesus because you want to keep your friends or family, then when you pass, He will deny you before the Father, as Matthew 10:33 says: "But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before

How is your Soul? Are you feeding your Soul? It's important to feed your Soul daily!

My Father who is in heaven." That is a very costly mistake to make. But if you lose your life in the name of Jesus by confessing His name wherever you go, He will reward you in heaven and confess you before the Father as it says in Matthew 10:32: "Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven."

To gain everything in the world makes no sense and lose your own soul...that is just crazy. If you only knew how terrible hell really is, you would give your life to Jesus right now. So many believe that hell will be fun, drinking, women, men, parties, lots of fun; that is so wrong. It is the furthest from the truth. Jesus talked about hell more than He talked about heaven, for a very good reason.

Jesus would rather

you pluck your own eye out rather than go to hell and cut your right hand off if it causes you to sin; this is to prevent you from going to hell. Matthew 5:29-30 says, "If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell. And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell." Now of course Jesus wasn't really telling people to cut off their right hand or pluck out their eye. In Jesus' day, at the southwest border of Jerusalem, there was a place called Gehenna; it is referred to as the rubbish heap. It is where they would pile up the bodies of criminals, indigents

and others who had no family or friends to take care of them. They were taken and burned after they passed away. This pile of rubbish or body and body parts was continually aflame and eventually would become a symbol of hell. That is how serious Jesus is about you staying away from sin and keeping yourself from going to hell. It's not a fun place; it is a place of pain, fear, total darkness. It is so dark you can't see your hand in front of your face.

As we all know life can be so unpredictable, there are joys and sorrows, beautiful blessings and distressing difficulties, they can all come upon us unexpectedly. All of our life's dreams and plans can be changed in a heartbeat. We all know this to be true. So how can we find peace in our hearts and minds? Only through

How is your Soul?

Jesus Christ. That's why it's so important for us to always feed our souls. Just like the song title, "It is Well with My Soul." Horatio Spafford wrote that very hymn, even though he suffered through some terrible times in his life, but he trusted God to get him through the tough times. Here is his story:

Horatio Spafford knew something about all of life's unexpected challenges. He was a successful attorney and real estate investor who lost a fortune in the great Chicago fire in 1871. Around the same time as the fire, he lost his beloved four year old son who died of scarlet fever.

At this time Horatio was thinking of a vacation and that it would do his family good to get away. He sent his wife and four daughters on a ship to England and he planned on joining them after he finished some urgent business at home. However, while the ship crossed the Atlantic Ocean, the unthinkable

happened. The ship was involved in a terrible collision and sank. More than 200 people lost their lives in that accident, including all four of Horatio Spafford's precious daughters. His wife, Anna survived the tragedy. Upon arriving in England, she sent a telegram to her husband that said, "Saved alone. What shall I do?"

Horatio immediately set sail for England. At one point during his voyage, the captain of the ship, aware of the tragedy that had struck the Spafford family, summoned Horatio to tell him that they were now about to pass over the spot where the shipwreck had happened.

As Horatio thought about his daughters, words of comfort and hope filled his heart and mind. He wrote them down, and they have since become a well beloved hymn:

"When peace like a river, attendeth my way. When sorrows like sea billows rollWhatever my lot, thou

hast taught me to know It is well, it is well with my soul."

I realize that we can't always say that everything is well in all aspects of our lives. There will always be storms that come up that we have to face daily, and sometimes there will be tragedies in our lives. But with faith in our loving God and with trust in His divine help at all times, we can confidently say, "It is well, it is well with my soul." Isn't that a beautiful thought, Horatio Spafford and his wife went through so much, yet Horatio found the peace from God at that very moment of going by the place of the collision that he was able to write that beautiful hymn.

There are so many ways to fill your soul every day and night. One being music; worship the Lord with beautiful hymns that will make your soul feel alive. Another way is through prayer; it helps us in ways of opening conversations with

God. When we pray, we communicate with God first hand as if we are talking face to face with Him.

Another wonderful way of filling our souls is with the Word of God. How often do you read your Bible? Is it whenever you feel like it? Is it when you have the time? Or is it just sitting there collecting dust? I pray that you read your Bible every day. One thing you can do is what Donna and I do every morning: We read five Psalms and one Proverb; then every night, we follow a guide that helps us to read the Bible from cover to cover in one year. You can read the Bible on your own as well...read from cover to cover by reading your Bible 15 minutes daily; this will allow you to read the whole Bible in a year, or you can read 30 minutes a day and finish it in six months. Either way, I challenge you to do this every year; yes, that is right...every year. On January 1st start at the beginning of Genesis and on

February 2023 His Grace Magazine! Page 5

December 31st finish at the end of Revelations. Then as soon as you are done reading your Bible for the year, pick it up and start all over again; do this every single year.

There are so many amazing books in the Bible that help us prepare for everything that comes our way in this life, right from Genesis to Revelation. It is a living book, so that when you read the Bible, it changes you, lifts you up. It is powerful; you feel the strength in your spirit and soul. Hebrews 4:12 says, "For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."

Reading our Bibles every day gives us an advantage over the enemy. By reading the word of God, it will prepare you to fight back against the devil, because we are up against him and his fallen angels.

They are more than we could ever handle on our own. Use the word of God as the weapon that He has given us. When we dress ourselves in the word of God every day and apply His word, we will still be standing on our feet. Truth, faith, peace, righteousness and salvation are so much more than just words. You really need to know how to apply your armor every day in your life because God's word is a weapon that is indispensable, the same way that prayer is essential in the ongoing spiritual warfare. Ephesians 6:13-18 says, "Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with

How is your Soul?

which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints."

By reading the Bible, you will know that God's will for our lives is to obey His living word, and it is impossible to live in His word if we are not reading our Bibles. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 says, "Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you."

The Bible is God's word that He gives to us as 2 Timothy 3:16 says: "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine for reproof for correction for instruction in righteousness." There are also so many questions that have been asked and God

has answered them for us in His scriptures.

Some of the questions are, 'What is the purpose of my life? Where did I come from? Is there life after death? How do I get to Heaven? Why is there so much evil in this world? Why is it such a struggle to be good?' These are all questions that are commonly asked and the Bible does answer them.

The Bible also gives really good practical advice in areas such as: 'What should I look for in a spouse? How can we have a great marriage? How can I become a good friend? How can I become a good parent? How can I change my life?'

We should read our Bibles because God does not change and His word does not change at all; it is as relevant for us today as it was when it was first written and will be for all the days in the future. While technology changes every day, when we read the pages of biblical history,

Page 6 His Grace Magazine! February 2023

we discover that whether we are reading about oneon-one relationships or everyday life of characters in the Bible, nothing really is new under the sun. Ecclesiastes 1:9 says, "That which has been is what will be, That which is done is what will be done, And there is nothing new under the sun."

And while mankind still continues to seek love and satisfaction in all the wrong places, God, our good and loving Creator, tells us what brings everlasting joy. The Bible is so important to us that Jesus said in Matthew 4:4: "But He answered and said, "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.'"

The Bible provides us with the word so we can distinguish the truth from false teachings. It is so important to know God because many people think that He is only love and anything goes, which

How is your Soul?

is so false. He is love, but He cannot and will not tolerate sin of any kind. He is holy, righteous, a judge and so much more. To have the wrong impression of God is no better than worshiping something that God is not, and then this becomes nothing but an idol or a false god.

The Bible also tells us how we can go to heaven; you can't get to heaven by being good or by being baptized. There is only one way and that is through a relationship with Jesus Christ; there is no other way.

John 14:6 says, "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.'"

Also, with this scripture, God's Word shows us just how much God loves us.

John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."

This also shows us

that in learning this, we are drawn in closer to love Him in return, as 1 John 4:19 says, "We love Him because He first loved us."

The Bible is a book that we can study so we can apply it to our lives. The Bible is God's word, and it is binding, just as the laws of nature are. We could ignore it if we want to, but it's at our own disadvantage, just as if we would ignore the laws of gravity. I cannot express enough how important the Bible is to our lives.

I have had people say to me, "So you read the Bible?" I say to them, "Yes I do." They say, "Well I have too, but it doesn't do anything for me;

my life didn't change at all." So I would ask them, "Well, how often do you read your Bible?" Their response would be, "I only read it here and there, because I really don't have the time to read it anymore than that."

So I say to them, "No wonder things are not working in your life!"

Making time for God and studying His word takes a lot of committment. You get out of the Bible what you put into it; you reap what you sow.

The more effort you make to learn His perfect will for your life, the more you will be rewarded. And then you can say, "It is well, it is well with my soul."

A book about Colossians!

All is another wonderfully written book by David Jeremiah; it is about the book of Colossians in the Bible.

He talks about each of the ninety-five verses in Colossians in great detail so you come to understand it better.

It was a hand written letter by Paul to the Church of Colossae; it is believed that Paul never visited the city. Paul preached much of his time in the port city of Ephesus.

People would come from all over just to listen to Paul preach the word. They would then take that message back to all the towns and villages. Epaphras was one of those who was saved by listening to Paul preach in Ephesus.

He then took the gospel back to his hometown of Colossae and started a church there. Ten years later, the

Church of Colossae was in trouble; people were turning away because of false doctrine.

Epaphras travelled to Rome to see Paul while he was under house arrest. He asked Paul for his help. Of course, Paul didn't hesitate and he wrote the letter to

the Church at Colossae. Paul's letter to the church became the book of Colossians in the Bible.

This letter Paul wrote while in prison was to glorify our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. He wanted to encourage the people to keep the

faith and to be rooted in God's word and not be blown away by false teaching. If you would just focus on Jesus, walk and talk with Jesus every day, you would become very close to Him; then you would see right through any lies and nothing would turn you away from your love for Him.

In this book, you will discover the answer to the most important question ever, 'Who is Jesus Christ?' That answer will make all the difference in your life. You will find that Christ is above all, He is all you need, He is all you will ever need.

Colossians 1:16: "For by Him all things were created that are in Heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him."

Psalm 16:11
You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

Onenight this past week, I woke up crying from a terrible dream. In the dream, I was being physically hurt, but feeling emotionally distraught because I was being abused by someone I deeply love. It felt real and affected me so much that I had to get out of bed and go to the bathroom, just to try to shake it off. But I continued to weep like a helpless child, feeling so betrayed by my loved one. Although I know it was only a dream and I trust this person with my life, yet why would I dream that someone so close to me would want to cause me such pain?

After washing my tear-stained face, I crawled back into bed and reached out to God and asked Him to take this vision out of my mind and to fill me with His peace so that I could go back to sleep. As I lay there silently, God reminded me that Satan is like a roaring lion, who comes to kill, steal and destroy. 1 Peter 5:8 says, “Be sober, be vigilant, because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” John 10:10 tells us, “The thief does not come except to

steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have

will never be loved. The thief tried to walk away with everything that I hold precious and dear

is alert and not divided. The enemy will use our emotions to divide our attention, so it is very important to hold on to God and cling to Him all the more.

it more abundantly.”

What a comparison! The devil takes life and the Lord gives life! John 8:44 reveals that the devil was a murderer from the beginning, and there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. Rather than bring life, he brings death. Rather than give, he steals; rather than build up, he destroys. Jesus came to give us abundant life. It is ours for the taking. You see, that night, the devil was out to steal my joy, my happiness, and my mental wellbeing. He tried to inject thoughts into my head that I wasn’t loved, I wasn’t worth loving and that I

and in the process, tried to make me feel worthless.

Jesus makes it very clear: Satan is a master of deception, so that many times we are not even aware of his destructive forces in our lives. However, God gives us the tools we need to fight against the devil’s schemes. Pray for spiritual sight, discernment and wisdom. Stand fast in the truth, believe in the promises of God. He will give us the power to resist every attack and to overcome any strategy that the devil may ever use on us. Our fight is not only against flesh and blood, not only in physical warfare but in spiritual warfare. We need to have a mind that

The weapon against the enemy is the word of God. God will strengthen us, renew us, replenish our hope, grow our faith and establish that unshakeable trust inside of us. We must always be vigilant and always seek God’s help whenever we feel we’re being attacked. He is only a prayer away.

Let us never be afraid of the evil that is patiently waiting for us in the shadows. Be comforted of the truth that God is also walking with us and shielding us. I know that I am loved, that I am worth loving, and that I will always be loved. Jesus loved me so much that He died for me, rose again and has a place prepared for me in His kingdom. That is a comforting thought. Because of His promises, my hopes and yes, even my dreams, will never be shaken.

“But God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)

Kelsey Grammer

Kelsey Grammer was brought to tears when he talked about his new movie Jesus Revolution

Actor

Kelsey

Grammer became emotional during an appearance on the program, "Live with Kelly and Ryan", when he talked about his new movie, "Jesus Revolution," where he plays the part of Pastor Chuck Smith.

After the program aired a clip from his new movie, Kelsey said, "I love this movie, I really love it."

Kelsey then added that his wife Kayte Walsh loved it too as they were both sitting down in their home watching a cut from the movie. She said, "Oh my God, it's the best thing you've ever done," then she started crying.

As Kelsey became emotional, he told the hosts Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest that the Pastor that he played, "is a man looking for his own faith and finds it as well. A man whose church is empty. He can't get traction and he's starting to think he's going to be fired from his

job as a pastor." Kelsey continued, "This hippie comes into his life. And he finds new purpose

as he once again broke down in tears.

Kelsey, who is now 67 years of age, is a

and started a movement that's still going. It's extraordinary."

Kelly Ripa asked Kelsey if his new movie is a true story. Kelsey said, "Yes it's a true story."

Kelsey then said to Kelly and Ryan that he has been approached by many people who said, "You're playing Chuck Smith! Oh, I listened to him all the time. Or they'd say, He married us or I was baptized by Chuck Smith."

Kelsey said, "You can see this in their eyes,"

Christian. He's best known for the character of Frasier Crane who he played for 20 years in the television show Frasier and Cheers. Kelsey said, "Jesus Revolution" is a Kingdom Story movie in partnership with Lionsgate. Filmmaker Jon Erwin of "I Can Only Imagine" and "American Underdog" directed this new movie.

Other members of the movie's cast includes Joel Courtney, Anna Grace Barlow and Kimberley WilliamsPaisley.

The movie has Pastor Greg Laurie included as part of the story. Greg was a teenager at the time of the Jesus People Movement in the '70s. He eventually founded and grew the Riverside Christian Fellowship in Riverside, California to one of the biggest churches in America. In a special feature of the movie posted to YouTube, Greg said, "The Jesus Movement was an awakening. Not only was it the last great American awakening, I think it may have been the most significant of all."

Joel Courtney, who plays the teenage Greg Laurie in the movie, agreed but thinks that there is another awakening coming. Greg said, "Our country and the world is primed for another revival."

Some believe the revival happening at Ashbury University could be underway now, after 10 days straight of God's outpouring.

Rockets rain down!

Rockets were fired from Gaza, into Israel in retaliation following raid against terror cell

InJerusalem, Palestinian groups fired rockets into Israel from the Gaza Strip early on Thursday, February 23, a familiar pattern that is now routine. This is in retaliation for a raid by Israeli security forces on Wednesday, February 22 in the West Bank city of Nablus, or better known in the Bible as (Shechem).

The Palestinian health authorities are saying that ten Palestinians were killed in the raid with many people wounded.

Israel had retaliated for the rocket fire by bombing a weapons manufacturing factory in

Gaza, as well as a naval weapons compound.

Israel Defense Forces has issued a statement saying, "This strike significantly harms the capabilities and prevents further weapon acquisition capabilities of the Hamas terrorist organization in the Gaza Strip and especially in the maritime zone."

This statement went on to further accuse Hamas of putting weapons storage facilities among their civilian population in Gaza, making it more likely to make innocent people casualties in this conflict.

Most of the rockets that are fired from

Gaza were intercepted by Israel's Iron Dome missile defense system. Also, a rocket had come down in a field without causing any damage, but the sirens are continuing to be a major disturbance in Israeli population centers around the Gaza Strip.

Israeli forces came face to face with gunfire when they had conducted the Nablus raid; they were looking for three members of the terror group Lion's Den. They were suspected to have killed a 21 year old Israeli soldier Ido Baruch last October. The three suspects were among the Palestinian

dead.

A video of a Palestinian security vehicle that was fleeing the scene in Nablus had angered many of the Palestinians who believe that President Mahmoud Abbas's Palestinian Authority have continued their cooperation with Israel on the security operations, despite the claims that those efforts have stopped.

Arab journalist Khaled Abu Toameh writing in The Jerusalem Post called the growing dissatisfaction with Palestinian Authority leaders "good news for Hamas."

Air Strike on Iran?

Netanyahu has private meetings regarding a possible air strike on Iran's Nuclear sites

InJerusalem, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has held five private meetings with defense officials in the last few weeks regarding a possible Israeli strike on Iran's nuclear facilities, as reported by Israel's channel 12.

The report that comes from Prime Minister Netanyahu's government has publicly heightened its warnings about the Tehran regime as they acquire nuclear weapons.

It has been reported that Prime Minister Netanyahu has made the decision to advance right away to prepare for Israel to strike.

Netanyahu had addressed the Hartog National Security Conference in Tel Aviv; this was following an international atomic monitoring group's announcement saying Iran has enriched its nuclear capacity to 84 percent. This is the highest level we have seen in Iran to date; this

number is just short of the purity level that is needed to produce a nuclear bomb.

Prime Minister Netanyahu said at the conference, "The only thing that has credibly stopped rogue nations from developing nuclear weapons is a credible military threat or a credible military action. You can couple that with crippling economic sanctions, but that's not a sufficient condition. A necessary condition, and an often sufficient condition, is credible military action."

Other people at the conference was Former U.S. Secretary of

State Mike Pompoe, and the former U.S. Ambassador to Israel, David Friedman.

Israel's channel 12 said that regarding the private Iran discussions, Prime Minister Netanyahu met with the Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, Israeli Defense Force Chief of Staff Herzl Halevi, and the heads of Mossad, the National Security Council and other IDF military leaders.

Israel has released the material of the discussions to the U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan

and French President Emmanuel Macron. Coverage from the media of the deep political battle over judicial reform in Israel has been overshadowing the Iran discussions.

Israel has recently told the leaders of the terror group Hezbollah, Iran's proxy group in Lebanon, that they would be making a very big mistake if they were thinking the political protests that has been happening inside Israel would affect the nation's military deterrence.

At the security conference, Prime Minister Netanyahu has repeatedly warned the world about the Iranian regime for the past 20 years. He said, "I can tell you that I will do everything in my power to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. That is not merely an Israeli interest; it's an American interest; it's in the interest of the entire world."

Super Bowl LVII

After Kansas City Chiefs won Super Bowl LVII, they gave God all the Glory for the win!

Afterwinning their second Super Bowl in four years, many of the Kansas City Chief players began to thank God, including three players who were key in the team's big win.

The Kansas City Chiefs beat the Philadelphia Eagles 3835 in Super Bowl LVII. The Eagles were ahead for all of the first half of the game; the Chiefs then came from behind during the second half to tie the game. They kicked a tie breaking field goal in the dying seconds of the game to win.

During the postgame interviews after making a 27 yard field goal in the last seconds of the game, Chiefs' kicker

Harrison Butker, who is also a member of the Catholic fraternal organization Knights of Columbus, declares his faith in God. Harrison says, "I wouldn't have been able to get through the season if it wasn't for my faith in God and to be able to trust in Him and know that He's got

a plan, and I'm thankful that His plan was for us to win the game."

During interviews for the Super Bowl week before the game, Harrison told reporters that he wouldn't be the person that he is today as a husband and father if it wasn't for his faith in God. Harrison said, "That kind of sets the tone for everything else, and everything falls under that. But that gives me the strength to go do everything that I need to do."

Chiefs' wide receiver Kadarius Toney posted a tweet responding to his team's Super Bowl win: "I'm still taking it all in, man." He also added, "Life is fast and real.

You just never question God."

Kadarius began the 2022 season playing with the New York Giants but he found himself traded to the Kansas City Chiefs halfway through the season. Kadarius had a big game; he scored a big touchdown and the 24 year old then ran the longest punt return in Super Bowl history - he ran it back 65 yards.

On Good Morning America, co-host and former football player

Michael Strahan squeezed linebacker

Nick Bolton about his "scoop and score play" during the third quarter. That play completely changed the momentum

of the game. Michael Strahan said, "The ball had the perfect bounce right into your hands." This helped him "take it to the end zone." Nick Bolton said, "I just give my blessing to God, man, for allowing me to be in that position at that time."

Head Coach Andy Reid led the Chiefs to win their first Super Bowl by defeating the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LIV in 2020. While the Chiefs went to Super Bowl LV in 2021, they lost the game to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Chiefs quarterback

Patrick Mahomes won the NFL MVP Award this year; he credited God with his athletic success and fast recovery from his ankle sprain.

After the Chiefs beat the Cincinnati Bengals, Patrick "thanked God" for giving him strength to play the game despite being hurt. He said, "He healed my body this week to battle through that. He gave me the strength to be out there."

Darryl Sittler had an unforgettable game against the Boston Bruins on February 7, 1976; one game I will never personally forget, more than forty years later. Playing that evening at Maple Leaf Gardens, Darryl

scored 6 goals and 4 assists for a ten point game in an 11-4 win over the Boston Bruins. Darryl enjoyed one of the greatest performances in NHL history breaking two NHL records, tying one and breaking four Maple Leaf records. Darryl's ten point game broke the previous NHL record of eight.

Darryl was captain of the Maple Leafs for 6 of his 12 seasons with the club. In his career, he played 1,096 games and scored 484 goals, 637 assists with a point total of 1,121.

In the first Canada Cup tournament in 1976, Darryl scored the winning goal in overtime against Czechoslovakia to give Canada the win and the Canada Cup. Darryl's best season came in ‘77/78 when he finished third in the NHL scoring race by netting 45 goals and 72 assists for a total of 117 points. He was named to the second All Star team at the end of that season.

In 1989, Darryl had received the honor in hockey as he was voted to the Hockey Hall of Fame.

In 1991, a year after Harold Ballard died, Darryl rejoined the Maple Leafs Organization.

On February 8, 2003, the Maple Leafs honoured Darryl by adding a banner with his number 27 to those already hanging from the rafters at the Air Canada Centre, now called Scotiabank Arena with other Leaf

Darryl is a Christian who observes his faith in the Lord very personally. He does give his time to Teen Ranch, a Christian organization that teaches children about God through hockey.

For Abundant Life!

Dear Lord,

Thank you for coming to give me real life! You didn’t save me to be defeated; You didn’t redeem me to be sick, depressed and sad; You came to give me life!

I believe in Your promises and I ask that You forgive me for ever allowing the devil to talk me out of the blessings that you have designed for my life.

I pray this is Jesus’ name, Amen

“Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow.”

Proverbs 15:30:

"Bright eyes cheer the heart; good news strengthens the bones."

Cloudy days and long winters can bring down your spirits, but bright sunny days brings gladness to the heart. In Ecclesiastes 11:7, Solomon wrote, "Truly the light is sweet, and a pleasant thing it is for the eyes to behold the sun." Sunrises and sunsets are something to admire, as are the wonders of creation that are all around us.

Loving approval in each other's eyes is one of the most pleasant things we see. The heart rejoices to see acceptance and favor in the eyes of another person. Greeting someone with a warm, welcoming look with a big smile can make one feel better as well. Wearing a happy expression can make one feel uplifted and joyful. Cheerful looks, bright eyes have good effects on the heart.

Likewise, good news is one of the most pleasant things we can hear. It energizes, strengthens

the body and also makes a person feel better. A good word will make a heavy heart light. There is a thin line between one's emotional health and physical health. Good news is encouraging, and in turn promotes wellbeing. What is the good news that this proverb is referring to that will

a "cheerful look" and "good news" are the nurturing elements that sustains them through difficult times. A cheerful look and good news from others can help us to keep going at times...a hug from a child, or just to hear, "I love you," is uplifting.

Following God's will gives us a better chance

others with the kind and profitable things you say to them? Do you have words of truth in your mouth to answer others?

strengthen our bones and fatten our heart, as other Bible translations put it?

The simple, yet profound principle of this proverb is that joy is a powerful, if not the most powerful, ingredient to a healthy life. Happy people tend to live longer and healthier, not because they wear blinders to the sufferings in the world or even in their own lives, but because

at health by avoiding the natural penalties of sinful living, including chemical abuse and risky behavior. When the Holy Spirit is working in our lives, opening the Word to us, opening our hearts to prayer and worship, these things lifts our spirits and contributes to good physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health.

Do your lips feed

1 Peter 3:15 says, "But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect." Proverbs addresses how wise we are in living right, and none of us have that down pat. Correction is always needed in some area of our lives, and it requires humility to be willing to listen. Start your day with quiet time seeking the Lord and submit yourself to the Spirit of God, allowing Him to teach you and guide you. Proverbs 20:12 tells us that God created both our eyes and ears; be thankful for the pleasure and profit they bring, for if we can see the beauty of creation and hear its noises and sounds, we are blessed. Wisdom teaches us to be enlightened by the gospel, to behold God's glory written in His Word. If we can see and

hear Christ's gospel with understanding, we are more than blessed. So give a cheerful look to

brighten someone else, or give some good news. Maybe it is for someone waiting at home today, or

maybe you need to make a phone call. Do it today; we all need to share good news and bright eyes.

“Parenting is a Journey” Like Arrows

life for them is still hard when their first child, Ron, is born. Alice is later informed that their second child, Kate, won't be allowed to go to preschool at the church because she is always hitting the other children. When Alice tries to talk to Charlie about this problem, he is always too busy.

Beautifully filmed, Like Arrows is well acted, has good dialogue in a roundabout story about a married couple that will spend a lifetime together learning how to be good parents to their children.

The movie starts powerfully with Alice telling Charlie that she is pregnant. Alice thinks she has messed up and remembers every moment that her

mom told her she was a mess. After a brief conversation, Charlie decides to do the right thing and he proposes to Alice.

But Alice is so overwhelmed by the thought of parenting. The nurse who helps her deliver her baby decides to invite Alice to her church. Alice talks with Charlie and convinces him to go to church to find some support, but

The movie moves forward a few years now; Charlie is still too busy but this time he is losing his children. Kate is sneaking out of the house and going out with the wrong guy and he throws her out of his car onto the sidewalk. Alice and Charlie now have four children, Joshua and an adopted Asian girl named Faith.

After listening to a friend, they finally go to church to seek some help. They learn that children need direction. They are arrows in the worry of parents; they are gifts from God and they need a target. Charlie decides to commit his life to his family. They start reading the bible together and there is a dramatic change in them.

But their oldest son,

Ron, is leaving. He is a genius heading off to a secular college with marijuana in his car and a book attacking Christians and God. Alice, his mother, is hurt by his attitude. He leaves and totally disappears from their lives for 30 years. The other children do very well, being grounded by having God in their lives. Eventually, they throw their parents a 50th anniversary party, showering them with beautiful tributes. Will Ron ever return and show up for their anniversary?

Like Arrows is an enjoyable movie for Christians and parents alike, for they will learn so much on how to teach their children to grow into the word of God and help them to develop into God fearing adults.
