aster 2019 is now upon us. To the world, Easter is a time to get together with family. Maybe some families think of relaxing over the long weekend, starting on Good Friday. Others go out and buy tons of chocolates for their kids…chocolates that are in the shapes of eggs or bunnies. They have large gatherings for their Easter egg hunts in the backyard. Others get their Sunday best outfits on and head off to church. What does your family do over Easter? What does Easter mean to you? The Crucifixion: For myself, I think of the sacrifice that God made that day with His son Jesus, as well as the incredible sacrifice that our Lord and Savior Jesus made for ME… made for all of US…on the cross where He died for our sins. Jesus laid down His life for us; He went to the cross and paid the penalty that we all should have paid; He did all that for us. "Greater love has no one than this, than to lay
Victory on the Cross
down one's life for his friends." (John 15:13). When Jesus was on the cross, He said, "My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?" (Matthew 27:46). He said this because of all of our sins that Jesus took upon Himself on the cross. The judgment was to have God, our Heavenly Father, pour out His wrath. Instead of pouring it out on us, He poured it out on Jesus. God abandoned Jesus; God had to turn His back on Him. He gave Him up to suffer the weight of the sins of all the people. He is a Holy God; He cannot and will not tolerate sin, so He had no choice but to turn His back on Jesus. After Jesus released His soul to the Father, a darkness settled down over the world, obscuring the sun so it would no longer be seen from 12 noon until 3 p.m. The Resurrection: Then, on that beautiful, glorious Sunday morning, no truer words were ever spoken…HE IS RISEN. When Mary Magdalene and Mary, the mother of James arrived at the tomb, they found it empty. This is the very thing that Jesus had told His disciples about, "For He taught His disciples and said to them, “The Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of men, and they will kill Him. And after He is killed, He will rise the third day." (Mark 9:31). When the two women entered the empty tomb, there inside was an angel waiting. But the
angel answered and said to the women, "…Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay." (Matthew 28:5-6). Jesus is the resurrection; we don't have anything to fear when it comes to death because when we die, we will live with Jesus in heaven. "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live." (John 11:25). Other eye witness accounts of the resurrection are: He appeared to Cleopas and his friend (Luke 24:13-39), to His eleven disciples (Luke 24:3349); to ten disciples (excluding Thomas) (John 20:19-23); to the disciples (including Thomas) (John 20:26-30); to the seven disciples at the sea of Tiberias (John 21:1-14); to the eleven disciples in Galilee (Matthew 28:16-20). The ultimate test of credibility for the disciples who witnessed all that Jesus did was that they would face martyrdom for their testimony of everything that Jesus did and said. These witnesses of Jesus knew the truth. What could they possibly gain by dying for lies? The evidence is there; it speaks for itself. These disciples were not just religious men dying for a religious cause, they were disciples of Jesus Christ and they were dying for a cause that was greater than anything else.

ver since Casting Crowns’ debut, the group has turned out an impressive collection of hit albums and singles. With their newest, "Only Jesus", they hope to carry on their success with twelve new songs; a majority of them ready for radio play. The album focuses totally on making Jesus the driving force and the main focus behind everything Christians do throughout their lives. Casting Crowns’ strength has always been their music. Their blend of pop/rock which, when you listen to it, you feel Jesus all around you and in you and it's a beautiful feeling. I love their sound in my car and throughout the house. "Only Jesus" has a nice arrangement adding different elements; for example, the song, "Nobody" (featuring guest vocal Matthew West) has a good foot stomping, hand clapping beat to it; while "Start Right Here" adds the banjo and violins; an effect that works well together. The songs on this album fit the unique sound of Casting Crowns; you don't have to look…you just know it’s them. The lyrics are Casting Crowns’ strength and they make their songs so beautiful. For instance, "The Bridge" takes an old sermon about the cross being a bridge; that is, His love that crosses a canyon of sin; the song "Nobody",

about: Jesus. There is much talk about legacy these days. As the lyrics say, "How do you want to be remembered?" The more we think about it, the more we are reminded that anything in us that's worth remembering are the things that Jesus has worked on and He is still working on us. On our own, we don't have anything to offer to this world but Jesus sure does, so don't mind us...Jesus is the only name to remember. This new album featuring the single, "Only Jesus" is one of the fasting rising chart songs of 2018 and already is a Top 10 hit. "Only Jesus" gives Casting Crowns their 26th Top 10 songs on the Hot Christian Songs chart; the most by any other band.
where Mark Hall sings, “I'm just a nobody, trying to tell anybody, all about Somebody, who saved my soul.” The lyrics and the songs are at their strongest depths; such as, "In the Hands of the Potter", "Awaken Me" or "The Change in Me". God in the Spring
Underneath the hardened snow, Little crocuses start to grow In the garden of delight; To seek sunlight they must fight. Though the days they get longer, The forceful wind seems to grow stronger Though it feels like winter is still here, Flowers whisper, ‘Spring is near!” So it was when Jesus died; Disciples mourned; mother Mary cried. They knew not what this was all for; But the sting of death would reign no more. Jesus broke the chains for me And by His blood set us sinners free. Good Friday was when this all took place; Easter we were saved by His loving Grace. Like the flowers needing the sun, We search for God in our daily run We needn’t look very far away; He promises to be with us every day. Read: (John 8:36)

It's Okay Not to be Okay
Moving Forward, One Day at a Time...
By: Sheila Walsh
W
hen Sheila Walsh realized, "I'm not good enough and I'm good with that", everything started changing for her. We all have had those moments when we wish we could do things all over again. A failed marriage, friends that we lost, all kinds of addictions, even a job that we lost…this is not the way we pictured our life to be. Some days can leave us so sad, ashamed, scared and even searching for something. In her book, Sheila wants us to face our fears and pain directly and then from that point, start over from where you are. In “It’s Okay Not to Be Okay", she helps us to overcome the same old ruts and pain that we struggle with everyday by changing the way we think about God, ourselves, and our everyday lives. Sheila shares all the practical, workable, daily strategies that will help us begin to move forward one step at a time, knowing that God will never leave us or let us down. Sheila's heart is to show us what happens when your real life meets with the word of God. It's never too late to start over; there is healing and so much freedom in just making that first step. Sheila is the author of the #1 best selling line of Christian
women that she has met and talked to around the world. She loves being a bible teacher, making God's word practical, and sharing with people her own story of how God met her when she was at her lowest point and how He lifted her up again. Her message is: GOD IS FOR YOU!
Sheila loves writing and she has sold more than five million books. She is also the co-host of the television program, Life Today, airing in Canada, United States, Europe and Australia with well over 30 million viewers daily.

Jeremiah 29:11
Page 11
Will we suffer as Christians?
he scripture of Jeremiah 29:11 says, "For I know the thoughts that I think towards you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope." Christians so often misunderstand this scripture and what it really means. Do Christians suffer? And if so, why do they suffer when they live in Christ? Let's break down what the scripture says in Jeremiah 29:11. The Israelites were in exile at the time; a punishment by God because of their disobedience. Jeremiah, the prophet of God, confronts Hananiah who falsely prophesied to the people that the exile would end in a very short period of time‌less time than what God had in mind. This event led to Jeremiah's statement in chapter 29, verse 11. The first part of the verse, "I know the thoughts that I think towards you", emphasizes that God had a plan as to what was going to happen to the Israelites in the future. The plans that God had for them were set and would happen in God's perfect timing. The Israelites were wrong to believe that the years of exile would be shortened for them. The second part of this verse, "says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope" was said to remind
the Israelites that the prophecy of exile was not a death sentence to them. Before Jeremiah shares Jeremiah 29:11 with the people, he gives them this instruction from God, as written in Jeremiah 29:7: "And seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray to the Lord for it; for in its peace you will have peace." This is something that the
Israelites didn't want to hear! They wanted to hear the words that they were going home; back to Israel. They wanted to hear that their suffering was going to end; that God would put a stop to all of their sufferings and pain. But God's plan was for all of them to stay right where they were in Babylon and to help prosper the nation that had enslaved them! Then comes the hardest part for them all to hear ‌ In verse 10, God says that He will fulfill this, but not until after seventy
years have been completed in Babylon. This unfortunately, would mean that most of that current generation would never be returning home. This shows us that God works and does things in His perfect timing. What we want and would like to have happen in our lives isn't always in line with what God has planned for us. A lot of people think, that if God loves His people so much, then why does He allow people to drive His people from their land and homes from Jerusalem to Babylon? Even today, why does God put us through trials or allow us to suffer? One thing we should understand is that Christians are God's children and we are also made in His image, but we are not like Him. We do tend to fall into sin; we get dragged down by this fallen world. So, God being our Father in Heaven, acts like any loving father and disciplines us; as He did with the Israelites by putting them in exile.
When we suffer through trials, God does not necessarily take us out of the storm but He is there right beside us to walk us through the storm; all the while protecting us as we go and things will pop up unexpectedly to help us through. By doing this, we will become much stronger in our walk with Jesus and in our faith.

Athletes for Christ...
Alex Faulkner The first NHLer from Newfoundland... A
lex Faulkner is a Christian who was born in Bishop's Falls, Newfoundland on May 21, 1936. He was the first NHL player from Newfoundland. Alex is one of 7 children; four brothers and two sisters. He learned to play the game of hockey on the Exploits River with his brothers. Alex was discovered when he played for the Conception Bay All Stars, also known as the CeeBees; they became a very strong team in Newfoundland. The team was formed by his brother George. While Alex was playing in an exhibition game in 1960 against the St. John's senior team that was coached by former Toronto Maple Leafs, Howie Meeker, Howie recommended him to his old buddy, King Clancy, who at the time was the Leafs’ assistant general manager. Toronto offered Alex a spot on their AHL farm team in Rochester.
He played most of his first season adjusting to the league, preparing him for the jump to the NHL. Alex's second season in Rochester saw him erupt with 73 points in 65 games and because of that, he received his first call up to the NHL with the Toronto Maple Leafs. In the summer of 1962, the Toronto Maple Leafs didn't protect Alex and the Detroit Red Wings claimed his rights.
Alex skated into the Red Wings line up the following season, playing on the third line with Larry Jeffery and Bruce McGregor. Alex had a very good rookie season, scoring 10 goals and 20 points in 70 games while playing on the checking line. He was able to excel offensively in the 1963 playoffs. Alex scored 5 goals in 8 games, including three goals (two game winners) against Chicago's Glenn Hall. After eliminating Chicago, Detroit moved on to the finals against Alex's old team, the Maple Leafs, where he scored two goal against them. Alex returned for his second season in 1963-64 and after 30 games, he broke his hand and ankle. The ligament damage all but finished his season. In 1964-65 season, Alex decided to return home to play for the CeeBees after Detroit asked him to start the season in the minors.

Risen “The Resurrection of Christ”
R
isen is about a nonbelieving Roman soldier who hunts for Jesus Christ's body, as he didn't know that Jesus had risen from the dead. Risen is almost the follow-up to Mel Gibson's movie, The Passion, with a few war violence and killing scenes but with a powerful Christian, biblical view and the reality of Jesus Christ's resurrection. Clavius is a Roman military Tribune often called upon by the Roman Governor, Pontius Pilate, to lead missions. Pilate sends Clavius to make sure the Roman soldiers crucified Jesus correctly. The Pharisees came to Pilate to tell him that the soldiers needed
to guard the tomb of Jesus because of the prophecy that Jesus will rise from the grave. The Pharisees do not believe that Jesus was the Messiah who will rise again after three days, but rather believe that Jesus’ disciples would come and steal Jesus’ body in order to make the prophecy true. Clavius sends soldiers to the tomb to guard it, but they fell asleep. The next day, the soldiers come forward and says that Jesus’ body was gone from the tomb. Clavius is now at fault for not making sure more was done to protect the body. Pilate tells Clavius he must go out and investigate and find Jesus’ body, so Clavius gives the order to dig up all the recently dead bodies in order to hopefully find Jesus’ body. As the days go by, even the smell of the dead bodies doesn't bother the hardened heart of Clavius. Lucius is new to his job and he is assisting Clavius with the search. He is able to find one man who knows about Jesus’ followers. The two manage to bribe the man to give them the information they need. When they find and catch Mary Magdalene, she tells
Page 13
them they won't find Jesus’ body because He has risen. After more of Jesus’ followers are brought to Clavius, he wonders if what they are telling him could be true. Will Clavius begin to see the truth about Jesus and the resurrection? Risen is a dramatic movie about Jesus and the resurrection. The movie is very well done with great suspense and excellent acting. There are some violent battle scenes, but nothing gory. Overall, Risen is a powerful story and is a great movie to bring a secular friend to see, as it shows a skeptical non-believer turning to faith. This movie captures the essence of the biblical story of Jesus while also adding a dramatic element. After watching this movie with your friends or families, tell them about the rest of the story in the Bible; or better yet, ask them to read the Bible for themselves. Starring: Joseph Fiennes, Tom Felton, Cliff Curtis, Maria Botto, Frida Cauchi, Peter Firth, Stephen Hagan, Antonio Gill, Mish Boyko, Stewart Scudamore. Director: Kevin Reynolds.
Producers: Patrick Aiello, Mickey Liddell, Pete Shilaimon.
Risen: is available on Blue ray and DVD now. Until next time, God bless you all, from everyone here at His Grace.

Your Journey to God
Celia Deegan's Story "Help me." These two words burst out of the desperate heart of a four year old child and became the most powerful prayer I ever prayed. A fog has claimed most of the details surrounding the event itself, but certain things have remained perfectly clear involving my first real encounter with the presence of God. I imagined nothing. The presence I felt that night is the same now and as real to me today at age 51 as it was 47 years ago. Mine was a bad childhood from the very start. I was unplanned and unwanted pregnancy and my mother's opinion of me didn't change the day I was born. What I recall most about the first four years of my life is mostly just a complete absence of love and the acute awareness that my mother hated me. I was afraid of her. I was afraid to talk to her and I was most certainly afraid of the way she talked to me. I spent most of my time wishing that it was bedtime. At least there alone in the darkness and under my blankets, I felt safe. And sometimes, bedtime came earlier than usual and without supper. I never complained. A four year old heart can carry the heavy weight of pain without complaining as a learned coping mechanism, but there were times when I couldn't hold back the tears nor deny the desperation of living
in a cold climate of hostility. I am sure that we are born with the ability to survive anything and I am also sure that the awareness of being hated is absolutely heartbreaking for any child. I'm not sure that it was an actual panic attack but I am sure of one particular night when the ache inside my chest left me gasping for breath. I felt like I was going in and out of consciousness. The little I knew about life at that point left me with the impression that it was nothing I wanted to pursue. This may have been the closest I ever really came to giving up completely before the panic struck. Somewhere in there, as I struggled to breathe, I coughed out two simple words: "Help me..." I choked and I trembled and my little fists were tightly clenched around my blankets. Suddenly, in that moment, an incomprehensible presence of peace and love began to surround me. I began to breathe. The tears stopped. My heart rate slowed as a sweet sense of relaxation came over me. I began to smile, which is something I don't ever remember doing a lot of before that moment. I felt a profound sense of comfort and warmth wash over me and it was then that I felt His presence right there in that room with me. An incredible sense of joy filled my heart. I couldn't see Him, but I knew He was there. And I was in a total state of awe. I didn't know

who He was but I knew He was real. I knew He loved me and I knew that I loved Him. This was my first real taste of true love, in its purest form. And in that moment, I knew that I would always be okay because something in that Divine Presence made me feel certain that I would never lose contact with what I encountered that night. And I never have, not even once, in all these years. In the days, weeks, months and years that followed, despite the storms that would come, I became a joyful child who rarely lost her smile. I'm not sure how it is even possible that a four year old could know in her innermost being that she had come to know and experience her Heavenly Father God, but I just knew. His ways are not our ways and the God I serve is able to open the eyes and the heart of a child to His presence. Of course He can, He's God! It no longer mattered who hated me because I had been touched with a love so incredibly Divine that no human love could ever compare to that. He became my purpose for living as I slowly came into the awareness of God, the Bible, the Church, other believers, etc. The night I met Him left me with an insatiable hunger to know more, to pursue Him for the rest of my life and to seek out the hurting and the broken with the message of God's love.
