arlier this month, I travelled to Newfoundland to visit my fiancée, Donna. We have such an amazing relationship and an enduring love. We always know what each other is thinking, we say the same thing at the same time and we love the same things. I could never have found her on my own; I am so thankful that God was the one to bring us together. After all these years of praying and asking in faith, God in His perfect timing brought her into my life and I'm so blessed He did. I also had good parents that raised me right. They worked hard to provide for my brother, my two sisters and myself. Dad worked for the Ford Motor Company and my mom for a Nursery. They did this, not because they had to, but because they loved us enough to take care of us and they were always there for us, protected us; they loved us unconditionally. Likewise, our Father in heaven is always there for us with His enduring love. He knows exactly what we need in
God's Enduring Love
life. We can to go Him and ask anything in prayer; all we have to do is just believe in faith. Matthew 21:22: And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith. Just as our earthly parents are here to provide for us, God our Father in heaven is here for us. As we go to Him in prayer, think of the things we need, not want. By asking Him for the things we need, He will always be there for us. Luke 11:13: If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him! God will always show us His mercy if we go to Him and ask Him for it. Ephesians 2:4-5: But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved). God loves us unconditionally as our parents did when they were taking care of us. He follows us; He is with us where ever we go. He wants to hear from us whether we had a good day or a bad day, just like our Mom and Dad would sit there and listen to what we had to say about our day, whether it was good or bad. They wanted to know how school was and if we had fun, if we learned anything new, or if we had a rough day… it didn't
matter… they just wanted to know. God is the same way, He wants to hear it all and He wants to hear it all day and night long. That is why Christianity is not a religion as some say it is; it is a personal loving relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. John 14:6: Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” Jesus is the ONLY way to Heaven. That is why we are to go to Him with all of our problems. When we talk with Him, He listens to everything we say. Sometimes it takes years to receive what we pray for and other times it comes pretty fast, but whenever it does come, it is all in His perfect timing. One way God showed us His enduring love was when He sent His Son, Jesus Christ to the cross for us. John 3:16: For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. What we have to do is just believe this and follow His ways to be saved. Romans 5:8: But God demonstrates His own Love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. He loved us so much, that even in His agonizing time being nailed to the cross, all that was on His mind at the time was His love for us.

How wonderful is that promise to us ‌ He will always be there, no matter what we have done. He is a loving and forgiving God. All we have to do is go to Him on our knees, repent to Him of the sins we have committed, tell Him how sorry we are and move forward into a relationship with Him. I would rather go to Him on my knees, than to stand on my own. Go to Him now and open your heart; He is there waiting for you right now. Until next time, God bless you all, from everyone here at His Grace.

Movie in Review... His Grace, February 2019
Unbroken “Path to Redemption”
he first high profile and high budget movie "Unbroken" was directed by Angelina Jolie in 2014. It was based on Olympic runner, Louis Zamperini, whose bomber plane was shot down over the Pacific Ocean during World War II. He survived 47 days on a raft, was then captured and tortured nonstop by the Japanese in one of the prison camps. There was a lot of criticism about this movie at the time from the Evangelical community because it didn't include Zamperini's past war struggles with PTSD and his struggle with alcoholism until a couple of Billy Graham revivals changed his life, when he became born again. Zamperini devoted the
rest of his life to Jesus and shared his faith. Four years after the Angelina Jolie version, the Christian film company, Pureflix, has produced the sequel to “Unbroken”. It covers those years that the original did not. The events of the first movie are swiftly recapped, with headlines and photos in the opening credits of the movie. Zamperini was a high school track star who competed in the 1939 Berlin Olympics. Afterwards, he became a bombardier in the US Army Air Force. He was then shot down over the Pacific Ocean and later captured by the Japanese. The movie opens in 1950 Tokyo as Zamperini visits the prison camp where he was a prisoner, accompanied by a reporter from the Times Magazine. But then we go back five years to his homecoming after the war ended, with a warm welcome from his family. But he feels so alone, even his family cannot comprehend what he has gone through and who he has become. The Army asks Zamperini to start touring for them to tell his story to everyone while selling war bonds. He starts drinking
a little too much, so the Army sends him to Miami to work on his suntan. While on the beach, he meets Cynthia, his wife, and they get married. He can't tell her about his experiences, although she gets a glimpse when he runs out of the theatre when they put on a newsreel of the Japanese war criminals on trial. The stress starts to get to Zamperini when he can't find a job and his wife, Cynthia, gets pregnant. He then decides to begin training to compete in the 1948 Olympics, but a fall reinjures his old injury and he can no longer run. Zamperini is devastated; when he was in training he felt whole again. He tells Cynthia that when he runs, "All the awful things go away." Now after his injury, he starts to drink. As he drinks more and more, Cynthia takes him to hear Billy Graham, played by his grandson, Will Graham. Instead of blaming God, Zamperini decides to let God in his life so that God can forgive him and then he can begin to heal and forgive others. The movie then switches back to 1950 in Tokyo in the prison camp with the Times reporter, where Zamperini forgives all the Japanese prison guards who beat and tortured him for so long. This movie has an amazing message of forgiveness and of how God can change our hearts, so that we can forgive those who have hurt us.

for King and Country Burn the Ships...
wo-time Grammy award winning duo for King and Country makes a powerful statement with their much anticipated third album, Burn the Ships. It explores themes of new beginnings, forgiveness, hope and love. For King and Country made heads turn on the contemporary Christian music scene when they first released "Busted Heart" off their debut album, Crave. It was an unexpected surprise and it was successful for the brothers. Maybe people became attached to their personalities or maybe because of their sister, actress/ singer Rebecca St. James; whatever it was, for King and Country quickly took charge with their music and they are amazing with their live performances. After their strong follow-up in Run Wild. Live Free. Love Strong., the expectations are much higher for the Smallbone’s third album, Burn the Ships. "Introit" (a Psalm sung or said while the priest approaches the altar for the Eucharist) opens the album. It is a short instrumental that is just over a minute long. "Joy", this album’s lead single, starts it off in a way that you would expect from for King and Country. This song has a big sound with that pounding drums sound that the guys have in their songs. The song also has a refrain
never give up and always trust in the Lord. "Hold Her" winds the album down a bit with a romantic type song that is about missing your loved one. The song is a prayer for God to take care of and to look over their wives while they are away…that is something that many of us can relate to in our everyday lives. "Pioneers" close the album out by adding the Smallbone’s wives (Moriah and Courtney) in another romantic song. They add a real nice touch vocally to the song. I enjoyed the album, Burn the Ships; it's a good and fun album to listen to. I highly recommend you give Burn the Ships a listen to and I will be waiting excitedly for their fourth album when it is released.
from the song "Joy in my Heart" which is sung by many Sunday school classes. "God Only Knows" is a song about depression and suicide. The Smallbones show the struggles, especially in their music video, but also offers hope in God's love. The title song is a reference to Cortes in 1519 as he began his conquest of Veracruz. Until next time, God bless you all, Cortes ordered his crew to burn from everyone here at His Grace. the ships; it was a sign that they would complete their conquest and not look back or retreat. Luke Burn the Ships... and Joel use the same idea to 01 "Introit" describe their lives as Christians: "Joy" Once we accept Jesus, we should 02 03 "God Only Knows" never be looking back into the past "Amen" or retreating. "Fight On, Fighter" 04 "Burn The Ships" is an impressive song that is slow 05 "Fight On, Fighter" and calm in the verses, but it does 06 "Need You More " build into a bigger song in the 07 08 "Control" chorus. "Never Give Up" On the second half of the album, 09 "Hold Her" such songs as "Need You More", 10 "Control" and "Never Give Up" are 11 "Pioneer" (Feat. Moriah & Courtney) fun listening songs, as we should

God is for Real
He Longs to Answer Your Questions...
By: Todd Burpo
T
odd Burpo shares with us that he wrote this book with the grace of God and so many, many long hours of seeking God for His help, direction and answers. This book is a sequel to "Heaven is for Real", which was made into a successful movie in 2014, where Todd's son, Colton, visited heaven. His visit to heaven answered questions such as, What is heaven really like? In "God is for Real", Todd Burpo courageously shares with us all the gritty truths that he has discovered in the past 20 years of serving as a pastor in this small town America. “God is for Real” has nice refreshing answers about God that we don’t often get when we start asking all the hard questions about God. In "God is for Real", you will get clear answers to questions like these: Who is God? Why is there so much suffering? What is God really like? Why doesn't God seem to answer many of our prayers? "Heaven is for Real" was Todd’s first book about Colton being in heaven; "God is for Real" is about the here and now on earth. People are so tired of all the standard answers offered up to us in long, drawn out explanations when it comes to their questions. But what we want is the downto-earth truth… answers we can
relate to and totally understand. What bothers us about life and faith is real; we need to know more of how God really wants us to act. We need that plain and softly spoken voice of God's to offer all of God's answers to these very difficult struggles that we all go through and face in everyday life. Todd dives into all of these subjects with his fireman's courage, a small town friend and a local pastor's compassion. He helps put the right touches on the questions you have asked him over the years. He then gives relevant, biblical wisdom to help you take the next step in your walk of faith. In the book, Todd is praying that we will recognize that God is
for real and that He has made you for a purpose. He is praying that the realization will grow in you, that you will sense the need to start talking to God and to believe in God always. By reading this book, he wants your heart to fully turn towards God. Hopefully, this book will help you think of the direction your life is heading and that you are now at the point of truly following God. Right now is the time for you to move forward with 'No turning back", whether you are new to Christianity, or you have believed before but you haven't taken God seriously enough. It is time to move forward and become strong in your faith for Jesus. As Todd says in this book, “Are you ready for God to be more real than ever before in your life? Believe in Him, because if there's anything I'm sure of, it's that God is for real." I think we all need a wakeup call at times. Sometimes we get caught up in everyday life without even realizing it. When we get to that point in our lives, we need to go the Lord, ask Him for forgiveness, repent and start back into our prayer life and become best friends with Jesus again. God is ready to meet you! Are you ready to meet God? Until next time, God bless you all, from everyone here at His Grace.

Psalm 25:
A Plea for Deliverance and Forgiveness A Psalm of David
To You, O Lord, I lift up my soul. O my God, I trust in You; Let not my enemies triumph over me. Indeed, let no one who waits on You be ashamed; Let those be ashamed who deal treacherously without cause. Show me Your ways, O Lord; Teach me Your paths. Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation; On You I wait all the day. Remember, O Lord, Your tender mercies and Your loving Kindnesses, For they are from of old. Do not remember the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions; According to Your mercy remember me, For Your goodness' sake, O Lord. Good and upright is the Lord; Therefore He teaches sinners in the way. The humble He guides in justice, And the humble He teaches His way. All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth, To such as keep His covenant and His testimonies. For Your name's sake, O Lord, Pardon my iniquity, for it is great. Who is the man that fears the Lord? Him shall He teach in the way He chooses. He himself shall dwell in prosperity, And his descendants shall inherit the earth. The secret of the Lord is with those who fear Him, And He will

show them His covenant. My eyes are ever toward the Lord, For He shall pluck my feet out of the net. Turn Yourself to me, and have mercy on me, For I am desolate and afflicted. The troubles of my heart have enlarged; Bring me out of my distresses! Look on my affliction and my pain, And forgive all my sins. Consider my enemies, for they are many; And they hate me with cruel hatred. Keep my soul, and deliver me; Let me not be ashamed, for I put my trust in You. Let integrity and uprightness preserve me, For I wait for You. Redeem Israel, O God, Out of all their troubles!
Psalm 26:
A Prayer for Divine Scrutiny and Redemption A Psalm of David
Vindicate me, O Lord, For I have walked in my integrity. I have also trusted in the Lord; I shall not slip. Examine me, O Lord, and prove me; Try my mind and my heart. For Your lovingkindness is before my eyes, And I have walked in Your truth. I have not sat with idolatrous mortals, Nor will I go in with hypocrites. I have hated the assembly of evildoers, And will not sit with the wicked. I will wash my hands in innocence; So I will go about Your alter, O Lord, That I may proclaim

with the voice of thanksgiving, And tell of all Your wondrous works. Lord, I have loved the habitation of Your house, And the place where Your glory dwells. Do not gather my soul with sinners, Nor my life with bloodthirsty men, In whose hands is a sinister scheme, And whose right hand is full of bribes. But as for me, I will walk in my integrity; Redeem me and be merciful to me. My foot stands in an even place; In the congregations I will bless the Lord.
Psalm 27:
An Exuberant Declaration of Faith A Psalm of David
The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked came against me To eat up my flesh, My enemies and foes, They stumbled and fell. Though an army may encamp against me, My heart shall not fear; Though war may rise against me, In this I will be confident. One thing I have desired of the Lord, That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord All the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the Lord, And to inquire in His temple. For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; In the secret place of His tabernacle He shall

hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock. And now my head shall be lifted up above my enemies all around me; Therefore I will offer sacrifices of joy in His tabernacle; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the Lord. Hear, O Lord, when I cry with my voice! Have mercy also upon me, and answer me. When You said, "Seek My Face," My heart said to You, "Your face, Lord, I will seek." Do not hide Your face from me; Do not turn Your servant away in anger; You have been my help; Do not leave me nor forsake me, O God of my salvation. When my father and my mother forsake me, Then the Lord will take care of me. Teach me Your way, O Lord, And lead me in a smooth path, because of my enemies. Do not deliver me to the will of my adversaries; For false witnesses have risen against me, And such as breathe out violence. I would have lost heart, unless I had believed That I would see the goodness of the Lord In the land of the living. Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!
Psalm 28:
Rejoicing in Answered Prayer A Psalm of David
To You I will cry, O Lord my
Psalms
Rock: Do not be silent to me, Lest if You are silent to me, I become like those who go down to the pit. Hear the voice of my supplications When I cry to You, When I lift up my hands toward Your holy sanctuary. Do not take me away with the wicked And with the workers of iniquity, Who speak peace to their neighbors, But evil is in their hearts. Give them according to their deeds, And according to the wickedness of their endeavors; Give them according to the work of their hands; Render to them what they deserve. Because they do not regard the works of the Lord, Nor the operation of His hands, He shall destroy them And not build them up. Blessed be the Lord, Because He has heard the voice of my supplications! The Lord is my strength and my shield; My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart greatly rejoices, And with my song I will praise Him. The Lord is their strength, And He is the saving refuge of His anointed. Save Your people, And bless Your inheritance; Shepherd them also, And bear them up forever.
Psalm 29:
Praise to God in His Holiness and Majesty A Psalm of David

mighty ones, Give unto the Lord glory and strength. Give unto the Lord the glory due to His name; Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness. The voice of the Lord is over the waters; The God of glory thunders; The Lord is over many waters. The voice of the Lord is powerful; The voice of the Lord is full of majesty. The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars, Yes, the Lord splinters the cedars of Lebanon. He makes them also skip like a calf, Lebanon and Sirion like a young wild ox. The voice of the Lord divides the flames of fire. The voice of the Lord shakes the wilderness; The Lord shakes the Wilderness of Kadesh. The voice of the Lord makes the deer give birth, and strips the forests bare; And in His temple everyone says, “Glory!" The Lord sat enthroned at the Flood, And the Lord sits as King forever. The Lord will give strength to His people; The Lord will bless His people with peace.

Your Journey to God
Celia Deegan's Story "Help me." These two words burst out of the desperate heart of a four year old child and became the most powerful prayer I ever prayed. A fog has claimed most of the details surrounding the event itself, but certain things have remained perfectly clear involving my first real encounter with the presence of God. I imagined nothing. The presence I felt that night is the same now and as real to me today at age 51 as it was 47 years ago. Mine was a bad childhood from the very start. I was unplanned and unwanted pregnancy and my mother's opinion of me didn't change the day I was born. What I recall most about the first four years of my life is mostly just a complete absence of love and the acute awareness that my mother hated me. I was afraid of her. I was afraid to talk to her and I was most certainly afraid of the way she talked to me. I spent most of my time wishing that it was bedtime. At least there alone in the darkness and under my blankets, I felt safe. And sometimes, bedtime came earlier than usual and without supper. I never complained. A four year old heart can carry the heavy weight of pain without complaining as a learned coping mechanism, but there were times when I couldn't hold back the tears nor deny the desperation of living
in a cold climate of hostility. I am sure that we are born with the ability to survive anything and I am also sure that the awareness of being hated is absolutely heartbreaking for any child. I'm not sure that it was an actual panic attack but I am sure of one particular night when the ache inside my chest left me gasping for breath. I felt like I was going in and out of consciousness. The little I knew about life at that point left me with the impression that it was nothing I wanted to pursue. This may have been the closest I ever really came to giving up completely before the panic struck. Somewhere in there, as I struggled to breathe, I coughed out two simple words: "Help me..." I choked and I trembled and my little fists were tightly clenched around my blankets. Suddenly, in that moment, an incomprehensible presence of peace and love began to surround me. I began to breathe. The tears stopped. My heart rate slowed as a sweet sense of relaxation came over me. I began to smile, which is something I don't ever remember doing a lot of before that moment. I felt a profound sense of comfort and warmth wash over me and it was then that I felt His presence right there in that room with me. An incredible sense of joy filled my heart. I couldn't see Him, but I knew He was there. And I was in a total state of awe. I didn't know

who He was but I knew He was real. I knew He loved me and I knew that I loved Him. This was my first real taste of true love, in its purest form. And in that moment, I knew that I would always be okay because something in that Divine Presence made me feel certain that I would never lose contact with what I encountered that night. And I never have, not even once, in all these years. In the days, weeks, months and years that followed, despite the storms that would come, I became a joyful child who rarely lost her smile. I'm not sure how it is even possible that a four year old could know in her innermost being that she had come to know and experience her Heavenly Father God, but I just knew. His ways are not our ways and the God I serve is able to open the eyes and the heart of a child to His presence. Of course He can, He's God! It no longer mattered who hated me because I had been touched with a love so incredibly Divine that no human love could ever compare to that. He became my purpose for living as I slowly came into the awareness of God, the Bible, the Church, other believers, etc. The night I met Him left me with an insatiable hunger to know more, to pursue Him for the rest of my life and to seek out the hurting and the broken with the message of God's love.
