Last week the NFL kicked off the 2021 season and everyone is watching a standout player who has replaced Drew Brees as the starting quarterback of the New Orleans Saints.

New Orleans Saints quarterback Jameis Winston actually threw a total of 5 touchdowns on opening day, as he lead the Saints to a big 38-3 win against the Green Bay Packers.

This game was to be played in New Orleans at the Superdome, but the game had to be moved to Jacksonville, Florida, because of hurricane Ida that hit Louisiana.

This game was the Saints' first game without their long time starting quarterback, Drew Brees, who retired back in March of this year.

Jameis said that Drew Brees taught him on "being efficient" at playing the game of football. Jameis, who is 27 years old, said that he is thankful for God teaching him to be humble.

Back in 2019, he was interviewed by Sports Spectrum, where Jameis said that he isn't rooted into sports, but he is rooted in Jesus Christ, who has taught him patience and perseverance on how to overcome.

Jameis said, "I've been through ups and downs, but one thing about me is I always knew that my identity wasn't in football, that it wasn't in baseball. I know that my identity always has been in Christ." He said, "All the glitz and glamour and that, it didn't really matter because I'm not doing this for me; I'm doing it for God. I'm doing it for God's pleasure. I'm not doing it for man's pleasure or for my own fame. So I had to understand that, and once I made that commitment in November 2014, I knew that was just the beginning."

Jameis Winston played for Florida State University football before signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2015. He played for them until 2020 when he started playing for the New Orleans Saints. Jameis won the Heisman Trophy in 2013 in Florida State, the ACC Athlete of the Year. He also won the Anthony J.

McKevlin Award in 2014 and the Pepsi Next Rookie of the Year Award in 2016.

Jameis recently shared on Instagram the Bible verse from Philippians 4:13: "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."

We will have to see where all this takes Jameis Winston this year with the New Orleans Saints and his football career. Jameis said that he is filled with God's grace. "He loves us no matter what. He is forgiving of us. His grace is so sufficient."
