here are alot of things that can come into our lives daily that effect us emotionally, physically and spiritually. When these things happen, they can be devasting to us. This is why it is so important to know scripture, so that we can store it in our hearts and draw on it when things happen to us in life. This is what Jesus did when He was fasting in the desert for forty days. The devil came to Jesus and tried to tempt Him to sin. Matthew 4:8-10 says, 'Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to Him, "All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me." Then Jesus said to him, "Away with you, Satan! For it is written, 'You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.'' Right now, there is a lot going on in our world; COVID-19 is all around the globe and has been with us since March, and now there are protests going
on because of racism, which started out pretty peaceful. But we have seen it turn into riots and looting where they are burning down buildings and attacking people. People's nerves are starting to fray and they're scared. The one question that I've been hearing from people, and it's the same thing I have heard for years...every time something bad happens in the world, they ask, "Where is God?" We need to stop asking, "Where is God?", and start asking this simple question: "Where are You?" When we really stop and think about it all for a few minutes, we have kicked God out of our schools; we have kicked God out of our government buildings; we have kicked God out of our houses and out of our workplaces. We don't even let the Bible in certain places anymore. We have kicked God out of pretty much everything nowadays. You see, God is where He has always been... right here in front of you, but you do not see Him. Psalm 23:4 says, "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me." If you're a non-believer in Jesus Christ, what makes you think He will hear you, when you cry out to Him or say a prayer to Him, when you don't

even spend a few minutes a day with Him? The bible clearly says that God will not answer prayer requests from those who are not saved, nor will He even hear their prayers. John 9:31 says, "Now we know that God does not hear sinners; but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does His will, He hears him." Non- believers are separated by God from their sin. Isaiah 59:2 says, "But your iniquities have separated you from Your God; And your sins have hidden His face from you, So that He will not hear." Everyone who does not believe in Jesus is given a warning about this in Proverbs 1:26-29: "I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your terror comes, When your terror comes like a storm, And your destruction comes like a whirlwind, When distress and anguish come upon you. "Then they will call on Me, but I will not answer; They will seek Me diligently, but they will not find Me. Because they hated knowledge And did not choose the fear of the Lord, They would have none of My counsel And despised My every rebuke." God will hear believers' prayers, but not those of the unsaved. 1 Peter 3:12 says, "For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, And His ears are open to their prayers; But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil." God will be against any believer who does not repent of

Publisher's Corner... their sin and chooses to continually live against His will, or if we fail to forgive others. Matthew 6:12, 14-15 says, "And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors. "For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses." By praying in God's will, Luke 11:9-10 says, "So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened." The Bible is the living word of God. The few institutions around now that allow the Bible are jails and prisons. Why do you think that is? Because they know that the Bible will change people's lives; it will teach them God's word and how we are to live in God's will and when we do, it will totally transform our lives forever! Unfortunately, most people do not know what the Bible says, much less what it can do to change lives. If someone needs the power of God to make change in their life, they do not know where to even start. When people embrace the power and wisdom of the Bible, the results are amazing. This is all because the word of God
Where is God?
has the power to make change. Those who are in bondage are set free, marriages and relationships are restored and people suffering from mental illnesses find peace. Here is an idea: Let's put the Bible and the Lord's Prayer back in schools now! I would rather we teach the children about Jesus in schools now, than having to teach them years down the road in prisons. Here is another thing...how can you even expect God to be there by your side, when you don't want anything to do with Him? It's the same as if you had a child and you loved that child so very much. You raised him; you took care of him; you thought the world of him, then he grew up and moved out on his own. Now you call him, you email him, text him, and he never answers your messages. He's too busy in his life to talk with you now. As a parent, that grieves you deeply. Your soul moans and you just want him back. Well, this is how God feels. He aches to be close to you; He reaches out to you; all He wants is for you to ask Him into your heart and give your life over to Him, to have a loving, personal relationship with Him. Afterall, God knew you before you were even born. Jeremiah 1:5 says, "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you;
Page 5
I ordained you a prophet to the nations." All we have to know is that Jesus is knocking on the door of your heart, and He is asking you to open that door and let Him in. All we need to do to recieve this beautiful gift of undeserved love and grace is to repent of our sins and invite Him in. 2 Chronicles 7:14 says, "If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land." Then God will always be right there with us.

Jeremy Camp I Still Believe: The Greatest Hits...
rammy nominated singer and songwriter, Jeremy Camp's album I Still Believe: The Greatest Hits, is a complete compilation of Jeremy's career. He is one of the accomplished Christian singers in Christian music today. His first album was back in 2002 called Stay; he has had a good stride of albums ever since. You can feel the love of God through his songs that he sings, songs that are inspiring. This year, the much anticipated movie that Christians have been waiting for, I Still Believe, tells of the life of Jeremy Camp, a 20 year old singer and his first wife, Melissa Henning-Camp. This movie stars Shania Twain, a country singer, and Gary Sinise, a veteran actor, who play Jeremy's parents. It is directed by the Erwin Brothers, who a few years ago brought us the movie, I Can Only Imagine. Jeremy's movie and his new album, I Still Believe: The Greatest Hits, are out at the same time. This album is a 15 song greatest hits package. The one thing I really like about a greatest hits album is that you get all the singer's good songs that you love to listen to all on one album. The hard part for the artist in this case, Jeremy Camp, is he then has to pick from all of his songs to make a greatest hits album...in this case, 15 songs.
recommend this album and I know you will love it. Jeremy also wrote a book called, I Still Believe in 2013. That same year, he started his Speaking Louder Ministries; it has free crusade style events. Jeremy takes his Ministries into countries that need to hear the Gospel, such countries as Ukraine, Japan, Kyrgyzstan and Guatemala.
Jeremy picked the songs that has the most meaning to him; also songs that hit the charts while on the radio. This will give his fans a lot of radio hits from past to current hits. At times, not all songs are on the album that probably should be, and some fans won't be happy about that. Jeremy's greatest hits has two of his hits, "I Still Believe," and "Walk By Faith", that were both given a new 2020 version and sound. I not only enjoyed both of these songs, but I do really like the way they were both given a new sound and feel to them. The song, "I Still Believe", was written after his first wife, Melissa, had passed away from cancer. This album also had some more recent hit songs that topped the charts, such songs as "Dead Man Walking", "Some Power", "The Answer" and "My Defender." This is a good album; I

The Jesus You May Not Know
Getting to know Jesus
Book by: Dr. David Jeremiah Written by: Lynne Wood
T
ake the journey with Dr. David Jeremiah from knowing about Jesus to knowing Jesus. His book, The Jesus You May Not Know, will open your eyes to what Jesus does for you every single day of your life, If you've been a Christian for awhile or just taking your first steps along that path, this is your book! Did you know Jesus is praying for you? He prays every single day for all believers; He tells you this in John 17. This scripture has actually been called the real Lord's Prayer. Did you know that some of the great bible teachers of the past didn't want to preach or teach on that passage because it was such a Holy moment in our Lord's life? Whatever your feelings, whatever your circumstances when you come to really know Jesus, there will be a light inside you that will never go out, no matter what. You will become a different person from the inside out; you will feel the difference because Jesus is with you. The
moment you say yes to Him and accept Him as your Lord and Saviour, you have eternal life with Him. Think about that for a moment; when you accept Jesus into your life and believe in Him, He will be with you always. Those who have, know that there is no better feeling in the world. Jesus is the Bread of life; if you come to Him, you will never hunger or thirst. John 6:35 says,
'And Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst."' Also, He said in John 8:12, 'Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, "I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life."' He is the Good Shepherd who will guide you every step of the way, if you let Him. He will never leave you. He is the Resurrection and the Life; whoever believes in Jesus shall never die. You will be with Him forever in paradise. Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life, Jesus is the Way, the only Way. There is no other name but Jesus to come the Father. Jesus is King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Trust Him in all areas of your life. Bring Him all your needs, your problems, anything you're going through; Jesus is there waiting to help. You will have no better friend. Praise Him always. Philippians 4:13 says, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
"He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.." 1 John 5:12

Matt Maher Singer/Songwriter from Newfoundland.. S inger/songwriter, Matthew Guion Maher was born in St. John's, Newfoundland on November 10, 1974. Matt is a Canadian contemporary Christian musician and he is also a worship leader. Matt has nine solo albums that he wrote and produced so far. Three of his albums reached the Top 25 Christian Albums Billboard chart, also four of Matt's singles reached the Top 25 Christian Songs chart. He has had nine Grammy Award nominations so far in his career and received the Songwriter of the Year for an artist during the 2015 GMA Dove Awards. Matt's dad was born in Newfoundland while his mom was an American. His mom was in a folk choir as they received a USO grant and were touring and singing on naval bases. As their tour took them to Newfoundland, Matt's dad noticed
her as she was singing. After that, as the saying goes, 'the rest was history.' She later moved to Newfoundland and there Matt was born, where he lived for nearly 21 years. Matt's parents realized that he had a talent for playing music at an early age. When he was growing up, he took some piano lessons and he also submerged himself into a large variety of music. He played in different concerts and with jazz bands; he sang in choirs and he also played with a garage band. Matt began his post secondary education at Memorial University in Newfoundland. He later went to Arizona State University to further his education in Jazz Studies, where he played the piano and received a music degree. Matt would play piano in hotels to help him pay for the first three years he was in university. Matt has had a few songs on the top of the radio charts with such hits as, "Lord I need You", "Hold Us Together", "All The People Said Amen", "Your Grace Is Enough", and "What A Friend." Matt has also had his singles top the charts at Christmas time with "Glory (Let There Be Peace)", and his newest song that topped the charts for nine weeks, "Because He Lives (Amen)." Matt lives in Nashville now and is married to Kristen; they have a son named Conor, and they still love coming back to Newfoundland for summer visits.

Lover of my Soul
My Spirit was spiraling downward, Spinning out of control. Physical body was weakening; Too frail to house the soul. My mind was stuck in reverse; In a vulnerable place, With voices screaming out Into a silent space. My heart was beating rapidly, Trying to brave the storm. Thoughts were inconsolable; A new low was being born. I cried out, “Where are you, God? I feel so alone; Why have You hidden from me? I can’t do this on my own!” Exhaustion, weariness and sadness Traveled through my veins Carrying with it sleeplessness To every crevice of my mortal brain.

Lover of my Soul
Then, when I thought I could stand no more, He said, “My child, open your eyes; look up! Take My hand and don’t let go; Know that I am your Mighty Rock! For My strength is all you need; My everlasting love will suffice. I am the lover of your soul; I am the upholder of your life!” He then lifted me out of the miry clay, And brought me to solid ground. He delivered me from the power of darkness; In Him, my refuge is found! Now, with a heart full of gratitude And with a song full of praise, I will speak of my Sun and Shield, My Helper, my Hiding Place.

Walking With
June 2020
22 One Thousand Years before Jesus' birth... T he Walking with Jesus journey continues every month as we learn more about Him. Although Psalm 22 speaks of David’s own distress and the Lord’s deliverance of him, it also prophetically describes Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection. It was written under the supervision of the Holy Spirit who saw to it that it could apply to David’s immediate circumstances of facing these enemies who were causing him to despair – and at the same time, it could apply to Jesus Christ down to the very detail. In this psalm, we get surprising glimpses of our Lord Jesus Christ. We get to consider both his death and his resurrection. In Psalm 22:15, David wrote, “My strength is dried up like a potsherd, And My tongue clings to My jaws; You have brought Me to the dust of death.” John 19:28 says that, before Jesus died, He said, "I thirst!" In Psalm 22:17, David is so distressed and perhaps emaciated that he can see and count his bones under his skin. All his enemies are apparently looking at him perhaps as if he’s dead. And because it’s as if he’s dead in their eyes, they feel that the time is right to divide his clothing amongst themselves. Likewise, Luke 23:35 says regarding Jesus on the cross: “And the people stood looking on. But even the rulers with them sneered, saying, “He saved others; let Him save Himself if He is the Christ, the chosen of God.”
It isn’t hard to place the statements from Psalm 22 into the life of Jesus Christ. John 19:23-24 says: “Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took His garments and made four parts, to each soldier a part, and also the tunic. Now the tunic was without seam, woven from the top in one piece. They said therefore among themselves, “Let us not tear it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be,” that the Scripture [Psalm 22:18] might be fulfilled which says:”They divided My garments among them, And for My clothing they cast lots.” Therefore the soldiers did these things.” Because the Lord heard and answered David’s lament and prayer and He doesn’t ignore the suffering of the afflicted, David pledged to praise the Lord and admonish others to praise Him in Psalm 22:22, which reads: "I will declare Your name to My brethren; In the midst of the assembly I will praise you." This verse is not only about David. This very verse is applied again to Jesus Christ. The author of Hebrews in Hebrews 2:12, which says, "I will declare Your name to my brethren; In the midst of the assembly I will sing praise to You.", uses this same verse to make the point that Christ is not ashamed to call us believers in Him – not His slaves, though we are – but His brothers. Next month, we will continue with the study of Psalm 22, which is not only about David, but is also about Jesus.
Walking With Jesus... June 2020
Happy Father's Day!
The book of Luke Christ as the Son of God... T
his month, we will learn that Jesus teaches us how to pray effectively to God. As Jesus was praying in a certain place that He was asked by His disciple to teach them how to pray. Luke 11:1-4 says, "Now it came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, that one of His disciples said to Him, "Lord teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples." So He said to them, "When you pray, say: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven. Give us day by day our daily bread. And forgive us our sins, For we also forgive everyone who is indebted to us. And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one." Jesus warns people how not to act, including being hypocritical and judgmental, as Luke 11:37-52 says: "And as He spoke, a certain Pharisee asked Him to dine with him. So He went in and sat down to eat. When the Pharisee saw it, he marveled that He had not first washed before dinner. Then the Lord said to him, "Now you Pharisees make the outside of the cup and dish clean, but your inward part is full of greed and wickedness. Foolish ones! Did not He who made the outside make the inside also? But rather give alms of such things as you have; then indeed all things are clean to you. But woe to you Pharisees! For you tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass by justice and the love of God. These you ought to have done, without leaving the
others undone. Woe to you Pharisees! For you love the best seats in the synagogues and greetings in the marketplaces. Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like graves which are not seen, and the men who walk over them are not aware of them." Then one of the lawyers answered and said to Him, "Teacher, by saying these things You reproach us also." And He said, "Woe to you also, lawyers! For you load men with burdens hard to bear, and you yourselves do not touch the burdens with one of your fingers. Woe to you! For you build the tombs of the prophets, and your fathers killed them. In fact, you bear witness that you approve the deeds of your fathers; for they indeed killed them, and you build their tombs. Therefore the wisdom of God also said, 'I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they will kill and persecute," that the blood of all the prophets which was shed from the foundation of the world may be required of this generation from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah who perished between the altar and the temple. Yes, I say to you, it shall be required of this generation. "Woe to you lawyers! For you have taken away the key of knowledge. You did not enter in yourselves, and those who were entering in you hindered." Next month, we will be look at how Jesus tells His followers not to worry about things in their lives, but to turn to God and to trust God with all of their fears and doubts. We need to totally trust God to take care of our every need in life.

Racing with Christ...
June 2020
Mark Martin Mark's life changed after death of friend A t five foot six inches, 130 pounds, Mark Martin is a guy who is a weight pumper, a fast walker, a strong driver and he is a fast, yet smooth talker. Mark was once one of the smaller guys in racing but now he is known as one of the giants in auto racing, one of NASCAR's legends. As for his racing career, Mark is a very tense individual when he is about to go racing; he is very passionate when it comes to getting in that race car. Max Helton of Motor Racing Ministry for race car drivers, teams and their families says, "Mark is pretty tightly wound." Mark's day starts early at 6 a.m.; he would start by lifting some weights. Shortly after that, he would head out to the track garage. Mark would go to both garages as he raced in both Sprint Cup and in the Nationwide Series. Driving in both circuits becomes very demanding for the drivers, as they have to fly from one track to another to race, but some drivers do drive full time in both circuits. Mark won more than
18 million dollars in Sprint Cup and has more than 30 wins in the Nationwide Series. When Mark was a young man, he had a lot of disappointments and went through quite a few times of trials. People go through things in their lives; this gives us experience and it helps to mature us. This is what happened with Mark; he would go to church, then he would stop, he would go back to church, then he would stop again. This would continue for quite awhile in his life. This was the beginning of a relationship, but was nowhere enough, Mark's life wasn't the kind of life that would allow much of a relationship with Jesus at that time. What made it difficult was that there was no outreach ministry back then to help the drivers find Jesus. What helped change Mark's heart towards Jesus, a turning point you might say, was when a very close friend of his passed away during a racing accident. The passing of Cliff Allison made Mark stop and think about his future, and more importantly, made him think about his eternal life. When Mark lost his friend, it totally changed his life because it made him realize what the most important thing in his life was. He wasn't sure if his friend Cliff was prepared when he died or not, but Mark made that decision then that he was going to be totally prepared, just in case something was to happen to him,

so he couldn't put it off anymore. Mark said he needed to be ready. He wondered what if something was to happen to him. Something could have happened to him anywhere, not just racing a car on a track. He was concerned
Mark Martin
that if something did happen, where would he go? The older Mark got, the more he started to think about it. Mark, at this point in his life, made
a decision to give his life to Jesus. He wanted a personal relationship with Jesus; he didn't give his life to Jesus just so that he would go to heaven; he did it so that he could really get to know Jesus personally by going to church and reading the bible. He wanted the strength to get through each and

every day, and the strength that Jesus gives will help us deal with the things that are most important in our lives. Years before Mark became a Christian, he would just party and have fun doing whatever he felt like doing. After Mark became a Christian, he enjoyed himself more. He is more focused on life and racing and Mark knows everything that God has done for him. Mark Martin retired from auto racing in 2013. He finished with 882 races; he raced for over 31 years. He finished with 40 wins, 453 Top Ten finishes and he had 56 poles. Mark's first race was in 1981 at the Northwestern Bank 400 and his last was in 2013 at the Ford EcoBoost 400. His first win was in 1989 at the AC Delco 500 and his last win was in 2009 at the Sylvania 300. Mark loves retirement. He enjoys fixing things and staying really busy; especially working on his Motorcoach. Mark Entered the Hall of Fame in 2017.

arolann was born in Botwood, NL and came from a family of twelve. She is the youngest of seven girls. As a seven year old, becoming a Christian changed her life immensely. Even though she grew up in a Christian home, up to that point she didn’t even want to be going to church. Her mom was a very positive influence in her life, but it was her brother, Eric, who took the incentive to take her to church. Her brothers were already serving the Lord, and once Carolann knelt at the altar and asked for forgiveness for her sins and became born again, she felt concerned for her sisters and began praying for their salvation. Church was a big part of Carolann’s life while growing up in Botwood as a young teenager. She attended Pentecostal school since elementary grades. Joy, her closest friend, is still a close friend, even to this day. Joy’s mom, Carolann’s missionette leader for Monday night meetings at the Pentecostal church was an amazing mentor in Carolann’s life. During these meetings, they were taught scripture, gospel songs, and also learned how to knit. Another missionette leader, Verna Philpot, also helped shape Carolann’s teenage life. Verna had no children of her own, and
took Carolann and her older sister, Judy, under her wing and regularly invited them both over to her own home and taught them more about God. Verna also taught them how to cook, knit, and sew.
Edna Lidstone, Carolann’s kindergarten teacher, was also Carolann’s choir leader. Edna directed her in singing and Carolann recalls a moment during a beautiful hymn, “And sometimes we laugh together, sometimes we cry, sometimes we share together, heartaches and sighs; sometimes we dream together of how it will it be when we all get to heaven, God’s family”, where she wept
before God because His presence was so powerful right then and there. Carolann is cutting and styling Edna’s hair, even to this day. Another influential lady in Carolann’s life was Mrs. Gertie Diamond, her Sunday school teacher, who she met when her brother, Eric, took Carolann and Judy with him to Sunday school regularly. Eric, now 72 years old, is a pastor in Gambo, NL. Other events that Carolann partook in during her teenage years were bus rides to Windsor church for youth rallies. They were good times for worshipping. Carolann and her family didn’t have a lot growing up, but when she was twelve years old, her father was converted and shortly after that, he started his own carpentry business. By the time she turned fourteen, her dad bought a red and 28-ft trailer with a double cab truck and took Carolann with her sisters and relatives to Camp Emmanuel out by St. John’s and would leave the trailer at the church camp for them to stay in while her father returned to Botwood to work. Camp Emmanual was a very positive part of Carolann’s life for many summers. Even though Carolann’s mom didn’t attend church regularly, she set a very good example at home. She would read her bible, then get out her hymn books, have the kids

One of the hymns she taught Carolann was, “Just a Closer Walk with Thee.” When Carolann attended her brother’s church in Cottrell’s Cove during a Mother’s Day service, she had the privilege of singing that very song for her mom who was then in her eighties. It wasn’t planned; Carolann was very shy and it wasn’t something that she would do on her own, but she felt that God was giving her the courage to get up and do this for her mom. Her brother, Eric, played the guitar. Eric had built this small church in Cottrell’s Cove that he had pastored in for nine years, before he relocated to Gambo. Eric took down the old Pentecostal church on Hill Road in Botwood and reerected it with the help of a few other men. While Eric and the crew were working on the church, every day Carolann’s parents would cook up a big meal for them. Carolann’s parents loved having company and if they had put all the food together that they had prepared for their guests over the years, they would have had transport trucks chocked full of food. Her parents taught Carolann and her siblings how to be kind because part of our duty when we’re living for Jesus is to be generous. Carolann believes that the spiritual guidance she received growing up with praying parents

and family prayers kept her on the straight and narrow path of life. She felt God’s calling on her life as a little girl, although in her late teens she went wayward, but re-dedicated her life to Christ at the age of twenty-one when she realized that she couldn’t do
this life without Christ. Spiritual leadership and stability in a home is very important. Teenagers are so vulnerable and can easily get pulled the wrong way, but when you have a solid foundation in your home, what a difference it makes. What really stands out in Carolann’s life is the time when her father drifted from God and after twenty odd years of being back-slidden, he re-dedicated his life to the Lord at the age of fifty

years old. The Lord gave her father the power to fight the enemy, to keep pushing forward and to keep reading the word and pray. He lived to the ripe old age of almost ninety-three years old and what a wonderful, hopeful testimony it still is to share with her children and grandchildren. By having loving parents, Carolann was encouraged to go to college in Corner Brook and get her journeyman so that she could start her own hair salon. At twenty-four years of age, she opened her business in a little room in her own home in GFW. After her children were born, her husband, Boyd, built a piece onto their home and turned it into a beauty salon. God has provided for Carolann and her family all of these years and for that she is so thankful. Her business gave her many opportunities to minister to her clients. Carolann would sing hymns to lift her clients’ spirits if she sensed they were down or sad. One of her clients died a couple of years ago, and Carolann went to where her ashes were being buried and sang, “Across the Bridge” at the place of burial. There was only a small crowd there, and she spoke briefly, saying that this was what she and her client did when they were together. Carolann brought a photograph with her that her client had given her and Carolann showed the client’s granddaughter the photograph and put her arm

around the little girl as Carolann held the book and sang the song. This client was much more than a client. Carolann felt that God had used her to minister to this lady; Carolann felt honored to be a part of her life, as well as her other client’s lives. Because of Carolann’s faith, they would call her when they were going through a crisis; they knew that Carolann would pray with them. God had given Carolann the ability to not feel offended if they cared not to receive from her the Daily Bread books and church magazines, but she continued to show kindness and generosity towards them. It’s amazing what seeds can be sewn when you show the love of Jesus to people without having to say anything sometimes. Spending time alone with Jesus before she goes to work each day allows God to show her the right attitude. Many clients would say

to Carolann that they would come into her salon feeling anxious and uptight about life, but by the time they left, they would be mellowed right out. That’s Jesus at work! Carolann is so thankful and blessed that God gave her the strength to 'keep on keeping on', despite the hardships she’s endured in her own life, and to be financially stable enough to keep the business running. Being a hair dresser is much more than just cutting hair to her. She gets so much satisfaction in helping people, and even though she has many opportunities to lead her clients to Christ, they in turn, lift her up and make her feel blessed. Since 1982, Carolann has been an active member of the Evangel Pentecostal church in GFW after a neighbor invited her to a service, and this church has been a great support in her walk with Jesus.
She is so thankful for her three beautiful children that God has blessed her with. Even though she is at the age of retirement, and although she may cut back on the number of days she works per week, she has no plans on ever retiring from sharing the ‘Good News.’ She gets so much satisfaction from helping people feel better physically and mentally both inside and out. She enjoys visiting the sick at the hospital; she loves keeping in touch with people who are sick with letters and cards. She has also spent the last eighteen years visiting a personal care home on Tuesday afternoons to help minister to its seniors. Yes, Carolann does remember a time in her life when she didn’t want to go to church, but now she loves to go and can’t wait to go; it has made her life so much better, and she can’t even imagine her life without Christ.

Safety of Abiding in the Presence of God
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust. 3 Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler And from the perilous pestilence. 4 He shall cover you with His feathers, And under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler. 5 You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor of the arrow that flies by day, 6 Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday. 7 A thousand may fall at your side,And ten thousand at your right hand; But it shall not come near you. 8 Only with your eyes shall you look, And see the reward of the wicked.

When God is Silent...
ince the corona virus outbreak in December 2019, our world has been turned upside down. It’s no exaggeration to say that this has been the biggest disruption to daily life since World War II. As I grab my gloves before heading to the grocery store, my focus is on getting groceries without catching COVID-19. There are others just like me, wearing gloves and masks while trying to maintain the mandated social distance. “Social distancing” has become the word of the day as we work out how to do business and maintain relationships. It feels like a strange new sense of normalcy: one we are reluctant to accept. None of us could have anticipated this: major events canceled, businesses closed and schools suspended indefinitely. Our entire world changed and we w e r e left feeling uncertain about the future. With our lives so radically reshaped, we soon realize what’s really important, and where we have been placing our faith. We are living in different times indeed, but God is still on His throne. He is shaking the nations. There is simply no other way to put it. In a crisis like this, we tend to recapture what it means to “love your neighbor.” Our elderly loved ones need our help. Any
act of kindness is a display of God’s love exhibited through the hands and feet of humanity. It’s time to connect with people like never before. If you’re healthy, physically go help someone who needs it. If you’re not healthy, find a way to connect and serve someone remotely. Be present in people’s lives. The world needs Christians more than ever. When we see people caring about health care workers, or those with preexisting conditions, this is a reminder of
reminder of God’s infinite love displayed displayed through mankind. Since the COVID-19 outbreak, churches are returning to our homes via the use of technology. Several churches are livestreaming their services on social media and their websites. This is making the gospel readily accessible and visible to the world. The church is on display and the gospel message is being shared. We’ve seen corporate prayer on Facebook and hundreds of Bible

study classes online. If it wasn’t a habit before, reading Scripture in our homes as a family just became far more necessary. Prayer is powerful and effective. But, even more powerful than prayer is the act of seeking God’s face. We need to be hungry for more of God. If we begin seeking God’s face, He will speak to us, and He will answer our prayers. Nothing is more important than our intimate relationship with God. Prior to this outbreak, many of us were governed by our calendar and not the word of God when it came to rest. Our lives were filled with practices, sporting events, meetings, parties and todo lists. Many of us did not rest much at all. We went to bed late and woke up early. We were overworked people. However, because of COVID-19, the entire family unit was restricted to their homes. This may be the sovereignty of God giving us an opportunity to spend time with the family and therefore strengthening the family unit. Nothing reminds us more of the brevity of life than a global pandemic. It is a reality check that tomorrow is not promised. It is enough to motivate us to reflect on the health of our relationships. With the uncertainty of the future, when life and death is forefront in our minds, forgiveness is not

something worth withholding from someone else. God is moving in the hearts of mankind, urging us to forgive others and love as He loves us. Our time on this earth is not promised and the global pandemic is a vivid reminder of that. God’s spirit encourages us to forgive others during this time, as it says in Colossians 3:13, “bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.” Our present crisis has shown us that we cannot put our faith in money, healthcare, or mankind. None of these options are as secure as the unchanging nature of God. During this time, God is moving on our hearts and causing us to place our faith in Him: recognizing He is the only One powerful enough to sustain and deliver us completely from this global epidemic. God’s word reminds us of this in Psalm 46:1 when it says, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” There are hopeful glimpses of our heavenly Father everywhere. We see Him in the faces and actions of other believers, in nature, through the pages of Scripture, and in the resiliency of the front lines workers battling the pandemic. Know that God is not oblivious or unconcerned; He is alive and moving in the midst of this global pandemic. When everything else in life

2 Chronicles 7:14 is stripped bare, God is the one certainty that we can cling to. We can stand together on the promise of 2 Chronicles 7:14: “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” Although not frequently used in the New Testament, “God’s people” refers to the church which is the house of God, as it says in 1 Timothy 3:15: “but if I am delayed, I write so that you may know how you ought to conduct yourself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.” Those who believe in Jesus Christ become part of God's true people. God expects, that if His people, who are called by His name, have dishonored His name by their iniquity, they must humble themselves under His hand, must pray for the removal of the judgment, must seek His face and favor. Yet all of this will not be enough unless they turn from their wicked ways, and return to Him from whom they have revolted. National mercy is then promised. God will first forgive their sin, which brought the judgment upon them, and then He will heal their land, and redress their grievances. When an unbeliever sees disasters come upon him, can he cry out and be heard from God? He can and should cry out to
Page 25
God, but he has no assurance that God will hear him. This promise declared in 2 Chronicles 7:14 does not belong to the unbeliever. However, we have hope that even unbelievers can cry out to God. God heard the cry of the people in the great wicked city of Nineveh in the days of Jonah (see Jonah 3). When they cried out to God, God had mercy and saved them. He doesn't promise mercy, but He might give mercy and save those who cry out to be pardoned from the oncoming judgment. It’s God’s people who have access to the God who can do all things and who is ready, willing and able to answer their prayers. And He is calling the nations to repent and reform. While we’re busy asking, “Where is God during the corona virus?” God is asking us, “Where are you, My people?” He is waiting for us to do three things: God is asking that 1) we humble ourselves, that 2) we pray and seek Him and that 3) we turn from our wicked ways. It’s time for Christians to take action. Today we can do something to begin turning this pandemic around. We are the solution that the world needs. Let’s become God’s hands and feet in the world today. God is still on His throne. He is in control of all of this. And He is working out His sovereign plan and purposes. God is not absent or oblivious to our plight, but is moving among us, right here, right now.

God Bless The Broken Road “Faith Takes You Further
he movie, God Bless The Broken Road, is a movie that tells us of a story of a woman named Amanda, who becomes a war widow after losing her husband in Afghanistan. She becomes very bitter and angry at God and she loses her faith. God Bless The Broken Road opens with the 101st Airborne soldiers out on one of their missions. Back in the US, Amanda is leading the church choir in their practices when two soldiers enter the church to give her some terrible news that her husband, Darren, has been killed in action. Amanda, after hearing the devastating news, falls to the floor.
Awhile after her husband's death, Amanda is in a place in her life where she doesn't want to go to church anymore, but her daughter, Brie, asks her to take her to Sunday school. Then enters Cody, a cocky professional race car driver. He is now being trained by an expert race car driver named Joe, who also owns an auto body repair shop. Cody notices Amanda in the church parking lot and he wants to get to know her. The problem is Amanda really has no time for a relationship and really doesn't want one at this stage in her life. She is also running out of time and money as she is desperately trying to keep her house. Amanda has no choice but to now work longer hours at the restaurant as a waitress. Amanda was also rejected by the banks for a loan, so now they are about to foreclose on her mortgage. She is forced to get a loan from a pawnbroker, who is not very honest. Amanda's mother-in-law, Patty, doesn't think she is doing a very good job at raising her granddaughter Brie and wants to take care of her. All Amanda is left with at this time from her husband,
Darren, is the house she is living in and her wedding ring, and now she has to pawn it in order to try to keep her house. Will Amanda see all of God's love in the middle of all her trials? Will she be able to fix her relationship with her mother-inlaw? Will Cody be the man God intended him to be, not just to win car races, but also to win Amanda's heart? This is a good movie; it shows not only what the soldiers go through, but also what the families go through when their loved ones don't come home. I do recommend this movie.
