From The Editor's Pen

Can you help me say " What happened to 2019?" I cannot believe it is already 7 months into the year! If you are like me, you know that July is crucial for most businesses. As I approach August and see how the summer months have treated His Favor Ministries thus far, I can truly say, GOD IS GOOD!

There have been some personal struggles, but in the midst of them, He has continuously shown his grace and mercy. Just a year ago, my whole life shifted and I thought I would not make it... BUT GOD! Even my perspective has changed and I find myself drawing closer and closer to my 1st love, my Lord and Savior! As you enjoy the summer and all that it brings, I challenge you to do an assessment of yourself each week. What things do you need to work on (Spiritually, Financially, Professionally and Emotionally)? No one is exempt from the test and trials of life. The difference is how we handle them as they come. I know I do not handle certain situations like I used to and as I grow in my walk with Christ, I am sure I will handle even more things differently!

I love you all! Thank You For Your Continued Support!

Grilled Chicken Sandwich with Alabama White BBQ sauce

Grilled Chicken Sandwich with Alabama White BBQ Sauce: I can think of a few ways to use the grill in the summer but on extremely hot days when I have a taste for something grilled I use this recipe. The chicken cooks fast and my Alabama white sauce is an amazing addition to a sandwich.

Ingredients

• Chicken Sandwich: • 4 chicken breast boneless, skinless

• 1 tablespoon smoked paprika • 2 teaspoons salt • 2 teaspoons garlic powder • 2 teaspoons onion powder • 1 teaspoon black pepper • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning • ¼ cup oil • 1 onion sliced thick • 2 to matoes sliced, garnish • 16 oz. tri-colored coleslaw garnish

• 1 stick unsalted butter softened • 4 buns toasted • Alabama White BBQ: • 1 cup mayonnaise • ¼ cup white vinegar • ¼ cup apple cider vinegar • 2 tablespoons sugar • juice of 1 lemon • 2 teaspoons creole mustard • 1 teaspoon garlic powder • 1 ½ teaspoons salt • 1 ½ teaspoons black pepper

Instructions

• Place one chicken in a zip lock

bag and with the flat side of a meat tenderizer or heavy bottom skillet, pounded chicken out until evenly flattened, repeat with remaining breast. In a bowl mix salt, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper and Italian seasoning, then evenly season both sides of chicken and let sit at room temperature while you get your grill hot. • While grill is getting hot in a bowl add all ingredients for white bbq sauce and sit to the side. • Toss onions in 2 tablespoons of oil coating evenly. Before grilling chicken toss with remaining oil evenly coating each piece. Add to the grill and cook for 3 minutes each side. Grill onions for 3 minutes or until desired doneness. Spread butter on bread and toast on grill for 2 minutes each side. • When chicken comes off the grill dip it in white sauce then assemble sandwich. Assemble sandwich, bottom bun, coleslaw, slice of tomato, chicken, 2 tablespoons sauce, grilled onion and top bun.

Recipe Notes

Preheat grill to 375-400 Alabama bbq sauce is best if used in 3 days after making it. You can split the sauce between two different bowls one for dipping and the other for extra sauce on the side.

“From the fig tree learn its lesson: as soon as its branch becomes tender and puts out its leaves, you know that summer is near. So also, when you see all these things, you know that he is near, at the very gates.” Matthew 24: 32-33

The Lord is good and his mercies never end. Rejoice for the changing of the seasons friend. It’s a reminder that nothing ever stays the same. I take great joy in knowing the only constant in life is the Lord Jesus Christ who was the same yesterday, today and forever. My papa God is the greatest interior designer I know. Do you know he formed man from the dust of the earth which was birthed out of his spoken word. He hung the moon and the stars and decorated the earth when it was void and dark. He is still in the business of changing lives from the inside out and that’s good news for us.

Angela is a servant after God’s own heart. Her aim is to not only change a room but to bring love and light into the atmosphere of each project.

Since it’s summer time, Let’s talk about how to bring in some fun updates into your living space while adding fancy pops of color.

Here are some helpful hints on what items you can switch up to add some brightness to your summer color scheme.

1. Pillows- One item that doesn’t break the bank to interchange is pillows and or pillow covers. This is a quick and easy option that makes a big impact on your space.

2. Accessories such as artwork or decorative pieces can also be changed out to brighten your space for summer. Tip- Be sure to find pieces that repeat your chosen “pop of color” to keep a visual balance in your room.

3. Add fresh lowers. Not only are they in season, they are living and bring an element of life to any living space.

Tip- You’ll want to look out for earth tones, jewel tones and primary colors. These themes are what’s currently trending in 2019.

B r a n d o n H o l t "Trapped Under The Influence"

When I released the book, Preaching Under The Influence, over a year ago, I truly felt a sense of accomplishment and fulfillment. I knew my purpose was finally coming to fruition. It was a very humbling process as well as fulfilling to hear how my book has changed lives all over the world! (especially those that can relate to the story).

As far as my current congregation (Connect Church of Christ) is concerned, we are in a season of change. When I was going through my addiction in Southern California back in 2004 until 2008, I will admit there were some people that struggled with it when I began to share MY truth. Some were judgemental, embarrassed, and some even questioned my leadership ability. The concerns were whether I was fit to minister and my mental stability. My spiritual walk was even questioned to the point people stated that they were uncomfortable with bringing their friends to church due to their pastor having an opioid addiction. Yet, at the same time, I knew I was taking a risk by exposing my "naked truth"

I came to understand that my testimony/ story was greater than me. As a Pastor, we have to bleed the way our congregant bleed. We can't be so above our people that we think that we don't struggle just like they do. So when I began to get ready to release my book, I said to myself, I am going to be transparent. I am not going to hide anything! As a result, at the Connect Church, where I now minster in Texas, I see people removing their mask. We are a very authentic congregation in our worship and even our communication. More and more people are disclosing their inner struggles. So overall, it has truly affected people in a positive way, knowing that their pastor bleeds as they do!

12

With social media being so huge now, people are using it to be more open about their lives. However, you have to look at the generational gap. You have your older generation that kept things in the home. The younger generation is more about transparency. So for me, besides being "unfriended" or seeing the negative comments, it has been some positive things. My story has connected the Millenials, the baby-boomers, and the builders!

My story has also touched people from many backgrounds. We live in a very diverse society now. My story even permeates across cultural lines due to so many people dealing with addictions. Growing up a bi-racial child, I was called everything under the sun (Oreo, a disgrace to the race, Mulato, zebra) it was really hard for me to fit in especially in the South during the 70s. I was either too dark for my white friends or too light for my back friends. I felt really confused at a young age and struggled with an identity crisis. I used to pray to God "Why didn't you just make me either white or black?" I ended up having an addiction to "approval". I want to be accepted and validated.

Sometimes we don't see God's purpose in our lives when we are in a situation. It might not be revealed until years down the line. When I got my first preaching assignment in Southern California, it was an integrated church. During that time, I truly went through the experience of going through the pros and the cons of being bi-racial for that moment in ministry. So the opioid epidemic, mental health, approval addiction, or any kind of substance addiction is no respecter of person, gender or ethnicity. My story gives people the hope and the understanding that you have to own who you are. Live Your Life! Live In Your Skin! At the end of the day, I realize I represent EVERYBODY! I am a blend of all nationalities.

However, a lot of times, we usually don't disclose our struggles due to several reasons. One of them is the fear of our reputation being ruined. Our character, integrity and how people are going to view us, can prevent us from sharing. I think the term "what goes on in our home, stays in our home" because we don't want to draw attention or outside opinions into our personal lives. Now I think with social media today, we now live in a world where people want to be validated and excepted. We now put certain things out there so that people will view us a certain way, yet things are totally different at home.

This leads to my own family. I have learned that life does not live on our terms but we live on life's terms. During my addiction (2004-2008), I lost my family and church due to my behavior. Today, after 14-years of marriage, she decided to file for divorce and the marriage will soon be terminated. Her decision was not due to relapse but rather irreconcilable differences. Today, my only focus is to ensure I am a God-fearing father to my 4 children and we are "co-parenting." We serve a God of grace and mercy.

The Scripture says "the steps of a righteous man are ordered by the Lord" For so many years, I was walking by myself and I was not putting my trust in God. I'm in a place now where I am really trying to listen to what the Lord is telling me. One thing I want to ensure is that my 4 children have a relationship with Christ. I pray that they are always near to the cross as well as have successful careers Another desire I have is to grow as a philanthropist. The book is not about sales, it's about selling the message. my mentor Mikki Taylor taught me, don't sell the book, serve the book. I want to transition into making a difference in the world based off of this story. Eventually, I would like to turn it into a motion picture. I even want to win an academy award for "Best Short Film".

I am excited about the launch of my second book, Trapped Under The Influence. In this book, I will talk about how so many people are trapped in different areas of their life. It will touch on being trapped in anger issues. communication issues, codependency- relationship addiction and more! Be on the lookout in September!

Artist Spotlight

I work a normal job, just like everybody else, at a tire shop in Mayfield, Kentucky. I have hopes and dreams just like everybody else. I have stuff in my life that challenges me, just like everybody else. I am no different than anyone reading this. We are all in this walk of faith together with Christ at the center. Without his saving grace, the music would be meaningless noise and life would just be without hope. But His matchless love, sacrifice and resurrection has made all the difference and it is my desire to share that with a world that is hurting. I am excited about this new ministry opportunity in music and look forward to what the Lord has in store!

I am humbled with the response to the song and CD at this point and just want to continue to give it all to God, for His purpose and glory.

At the end of 2016, I began writing songs and playing around with recording them on my iPad. I kind of set up a little recording studio in my closet. I recorded the lead vocal, harmony, acoustic and rhythm, then mixed it all in my app. I had written four songs at this point. Then, when I wrote “Love Is An Ocean”, my family was like, “Ok, it’s time to figure out how to share this with others. This can’t be kept with just family and friends any longer.” So, we talked to a long-time friend who had started their own booking agency and she helped us connect with a local recording studio. From there, the rest of the songs came and the CD came to life.

Now, when growing up, not only was church a priority in my life on Wednesdays and Sundays, but also God was a priority in between. A lot of people may believe that having church in their own way or on their own is enough, but for me I have always needed the body of Christ to encourage me, to teach me and to keep me accountable in the Word. Today, I would say to a young man that is struggling with finding their place is this. No matter how hard things get, always cling to Christ. Stay in the Word to find wisdom, peace and comfort for your situation. Find another guy who would be willing to be your accountability partner for Bible study and prayer. It all comes down to being obedient to Christ and finding the path He wants for

your life so that your life can be for His glory.

I am well! I am alive and breathing! The Motivation I knew from a child that I was called to minister outside of the 4 walls of "church". The Lord showed me visions that I’d be singing to the nations! But, it was after a major car accident, in which I almost lost my life. I knew life was short and it was time to put my calling in action! The Social Media Presence It is because of social media the “Gospel Artist” is open to more platforms than the traditional church setting! In many ways it has expanded our reach! The Relationship With God We all struggle. However, our relationship with the Lord is personal! You don’t have to fit a perceived mold to who Christ is. You have to know the Lord for yourself! Study his word!! Make your election sure!! The Meaning Of Persistence The root word is persistent. To be persistent is an action word! Which for me, means to never give up! The lyrics in my new single “Don’t Break” says; “Don’t Break before your breakthrough!” Never stop! The Importance of Being Unique More importantly than as an artist, as a person, it is important to be an individual! You are uniquely and wonderfully made! The lord broke the mold when he made each and every one of us!! As an artist the lord had to chastise me for singing just like all the “Greats” in gospel... He said to me, “ I made you Micah! Do it the way I give it to you!” Not the way people say you should do it!” And the minute I discovered who I was, and started ministering the way God gave it to me, the lord blessed my career!!

It's The Christ X-Factor It was a pleasure to interview Elbert, lead singer of the international Christian group, Trinity. ~ Sheneè Woodson, Founder/Editor Inn Chief, His Favor Magazine

I've come to realize that I do not have to keep asking God to "fill me up" Instead, I have come to the realization that he lives in me. Ultimately, I have stopped wondering about him filling me up, but living out of it. So this is how I now view God's favor on me. I believe that He is in every cell of me. Now from that, I think about how I can impact the world in the name of Jesus. When speaking about the "favor of God", as far as the group is concerned, we call it the Christ X-Factor! Everywhere we go, for the past 15 years, we would get people moving. We don't know what it is! Maybe it's the Spanish/Latino joy (we grew up in South America...Peru!). So no matter where we go, people start dancing and I don't know why! I honestly believe that it is our special thing! The Lord just causes people's feet to move. Not only do we have a great time, but we love to worship God! Worship is realizing that God lives in me and start acting like it! By bringing justice, by respecting my body and others, reaching out to the poor and so much more! It is so much more than singing! Yet, when it comes to church on Sundays, it seems to still be segregated. One thing I can say is that our music definitely brings people together. There's Blacks, Whites, Asians, Latinos, "church folk", "non-church folk", gay, straight, men and women... you name it, our music unites. I love that because, in the end, Heaven is going to be mix with a diverse group of people! I feel that we have to start acting like Heaven is here. I truly believe God has called us to do that. I also believe segregation is not what God wants. He is all about UNITY! He is a TRIUNE GOD! The group's name Trinity is basically following that. God is a community within Himself. He has created us in His image! Which means, we, his creation, was created for community! We need to stop living life "alone" and "isolated" and start living in "community" You are NEVER alone. Realize that! We are excited about our album released on July 12th! It feels good to finally release it into the world! We are also doing a tour in the Netherlands called "Trinity Gatherings" We are going to gather in barns, stables, greenhouses (big ones) with people of many backgrounds and throwing Heavenly parties! After touring and ministering in other countries, we will then return back to the US www.bandtrinity.com

Tercer Cielo is a Contemporary Christian Latin pop duo comprised of husband-and-wife team Juan Carlos Rodríguez and Evelyn Herrera. Their hit singles and albums have established them as an international multi-platinum selling entity. They have toured extensively and received multiple nominations and awards for Latin Grammy, Billboard Latin Music Awards, and Premios Lo Nuestro.

Thank You His Favor Magazine! It is our joy to speak to your readers. We are truly blessed and enjoying this summer with our family and friends.

With all that is going on in the world right now, how do you feel your music is touching the lives of your audience?

We feel humbled that our music continues to impact people of all ages. We receive countless testimonies of couples that have reconciled, young people that have committed to the Lord and people from all walks of lives that have received comfort, direction and salvation through our songs. With all that is going on it feels fulfilling to see what we do is changing lives.

Over the years, you have been blessed to win multiple awards. Which award stands out the most and why?

Oh wow! Every award has been so meaningful. Probably because they were all unexpected. We don’t write and sing these songs for recognition but when we do get recognition, we feel blessed and give all glory to our Lord and Savior JESUS CHRIST.

As a husband and wife duo, how do you balance home and the road?

That is a good question! We have been trying to figure that out since we got married thirteen years ago. We have learned through trial and error and we are still learning. LOL. But we could say that as we have walked this journey together, we have learned to prioritize what is most important in every stage we have had to face. Life with children (We have 2 beautiful girls) has helped us prioritize and make intelligent decisions. Ministry has also been key in our growth. Being good stewards of our time, money and talent has allowed us to live a healthier, balanced life. Juan Carlos: For the last 4 years I have been learning the art and craft of filmmaking. I would like to write, produce and direct my own stories. Evelyn: I am a licensed esthetician and have been working on creating my own skin and beauty line for the past few years. I have 3 products thus far. My brand’s name is Beautified by Evelyn Herrera and you could find my products on Amazon. ***stay tuned for the full Interview in the Premier Issue of Revista Cristiana Su Favor (His Favor Ministries' Spanish Magazine)

Hello His Favor Magazine Readers! My name is Trish Standley. I am in Independent Gospel Artist and the host of “Style with Trysh a weekly online radio show on the Survival Radio Network and then on 108 Praise Radio. I use this platform to minister to women not only in the areas of current fashion but also in boosting, inspiring and educating ladies on the importance of developing a healthy self esteem.

GOSPEL ARTIST Although I have received many nominations and awards as a Gospel Artist, I never actually wanted to be a recording artist. I viewed all my writing (songs) as private so I told God "no" for a long time. At one point, I thought I'd compromise with God and said ok if I create this group) THEN I will still be singing outside of my local ministry "with them" and so that wouldn't really be disobedience. Only until God began to dry my gifting up did it become real for me. As a songwriter from the age of 15, I began to struggle with writing and developed a condition that affected my vocals. At that point, I surrendered and told the Lord - If this is what you desire for me then ok but I don't want to move unless I know you are leading. Once I gave Him my yes he restored my writing abilities and healed the vocal issue I had. And here we are today.

TALK SHOW HOST As far as media, I do believe that there has been a shift in the way believer's are represented in this day to the world. I do not necessarily think that it is solely in a negative way. In times past, Christians were expected to be flawlessly perfect and as a nonbeliever that could be very intimidating. We all fall short which is the purpose of the blood Christ shed for us. I'd much rather see a flawed believer than a pious, loveless, judgmental Christian any day. My ministry is all about love so I believe this is how we will draw others to Christ. By loving them where they currently are, then our lives and love will draw them to the ONLY One who can bring about redemption. 20

FASHIONISTA It important to have your own style as an artist. Style is something that comes from within and not only how you dress; however as an artist developing your own personal style is necessary as a part of creating a brand for yourself. There is an expectation of stylings dependent on the genre of music. For instance, as a Neo-soul artist, we'd expect your attire to represent earthy, jewel-toned colors and natural looks. I believe it is important to consult a professional in the early stages of branding because this is something that must stay consistent yet easy for you to maintain. MINISTER I love ministering to females. What I would like to say to a young female that is struggling with her identity in Christ is this. I believe that our identity in Christ is tied to His purpose & will for our lives. In order to discover what that is we must spend quality time with Him. I've received a lot of instructions from Him during the night. I tend to keep a pen and pad on my nightstand because when He needs to speak to me then I can capture it as He gives it. I'd say to that young lady - stay the course - keep your heart open to His voice and continue to ask Him who you are in Him until He answers. And that He will do.

WORSHIPER Worship is acknowledging God in ALL things and in ALL situations. We hear that it is an experience and it is; however it isn't just reduced to a 30-minute session every Sunday and just before bible study. Worship is seeing God in day to day living. When I see birds, I see God - When I speak with my daughter, I see God. When my loved one passed, I see God. God desires us to see Him moment by moment in our lives so that once we are in Sunday morning worship His spirit flows freely through us but don't get it twisted - I've had more worship experiences driving my car on the way to work or while in the shower.

FINAL THOUGHT It is so important to be trusted by God. Every time we give him our "yes" He will open doors that you couldn't even imagine. My desire is not to be "famous" but to be trusted by God. I adore all the platforms that He's graced me to do His work INCLUDING the career outside of music & media. I am faithful there just as much as I am to my areas of passion.

Talking Shop with Emerging Fashion Stylist Danielle (Dannybstyles) Blanchel If you are looking for someone to help you put an outfit together for a special event you're attending, let me introduce you to Danny B Styles- a brand owned by fashion stylist Danielle Blanchel. Danielle has experience dressing different individuals- from the stay at home mom to the CEO. She has dressed gospel artist and entrepreneurs. Her strategy is dressing individuals based on their journey and their individuality, however, her specialty is Street Chic with a mix of glam and edge with a touch of vintage. I got an opportunity to interview Danielle and we talked about Fashion and how it affects the Church-this is what she had to say. ~Keenya Kersey, Fashion Editor (His Favor Magazine)

Hey Danielle, I'm impressed by how you have achieved so much in the short time you have been in business. What are some of the things you had to overcome to start Danny B. Styles? Danielle: Thank you Keenya for the opportunity. Before I started I had to overcome fear and doubt. The first thing I did was to say yes to God. When I decided to be obedient to what God wanted me to do the doors started to open and they continue to open. Secondly, I don't speak about how I feel when I experience any level of fear. Thirdly, I do it afraid and trust the promises of God. What is the future for Danny B Styles? Danielle: I have goals to open several boutiques. I am looking to create my own clothing line. I also want to plan more events and conferences, such as Swap & Shops and Popups. What direction do you see the church going in when it comes to fashion? Danielle: I believe the church is moving towards individuality and more relatability when it comes to clothing. When we first meet a person, we view and review with our eye. It's important to present ourselves, so people can connect with us and see us to more transparent, especially to the unchurched. The Bible tells us when Judas betrayed Jesus, he did so with a kiss so he could be identified- letting us know that even though Jesus was the King of Kings and the Lords of Lords, he dressed in such a way that he blended in with the rest of the disciples.

26

What advice would you give someone who wants to become a fashion stylist? Danielle: First, I would ask them what they are passionate about because their passion is what will keep them going. Without passion, they won’t last long. Your why has to be bigger than just liking clothes. Secondly, I would tell them to write out a plan or their vision. Thirdly, they should put together a look with the resources they have. If they start with what they have, God will increase it.

What are your go-to pieces? Danielle: My go-to pieces are anything denim because it’s versatile and interchangeable. Also a jumper or romper. How can one find you if they want you to style them for an event? Danielle: I can be reached by DM on Instagram @dannybstyles or email me at 2bdannybee@gmail.com

My Journey With Numbers

His Favor Magazine! Thank you for granting me this interview to allow your readers to learn more about me. Tell us, when did you realize you were called to speak to others in regards to their finances? Wow…God spoke to me immediately! I knew I was called to deliver others while I was a senior in college. My journey with numbers started some years ago while I was working at Carl’s Jr. Restaurant in Carson, California as the assistant manager at the age of 19 years old. I received my very first W-2 and asked my grandmother to help me complete my personal income tax return. Her exact words were “go get a pencil and we can sit down here and do this return together.” From that moment on so many things have resonated from her random act of kindness. Subsequently, I took an income tax course as an elective course prior to graduating and it was in that moment that I decided that I wanted to start my own business as a Tax Preparer for extra money. Today, I operate a global financial consulting firm providing comprehensive accounting, tax and financial management services for businesses and individuals. The journey has been great. For years I remained a dualpreneur – working my 9 to 5 and running a side business as a successful single mom. In fact, I looked up and realized it had been 20 years of hitting the clock and then coming home to the lifestyle of an entrepreneur – phone calls, proposals, clients, and much more. Time flies. Today things are a lot different. As far as the church is concerned, do you feel there needs to be a more open discussion about money management? Absolutely! Many church leaders struggle with talking about money in their church or loathe the offering time. However, you can alleviate this fear by making a shift in your perspective about money. The topic of money is not about money per se. The Kingdom of God and helping people to live as disciples of Christ is the true aim of money. In the words of Peter Greer, "Money is a vehicle, not the ultimate objective" The reality for pastors is that money is essential for ministry. It's needed when it comes to paying your bills and money is one of the biggest struggles and stresses of the people who sit in your church. To help you navigate the topic of money in your church, here are things to keep in mind. People Genuinely Want To Know What the Bible Has To Say

about Money. People come to your church to hear what the Bible has to say. They drove there, probably looked at your website, they drove past a sign that said church, so they are expecting for you to open the Bible and read it. People want to know what God thinks about a whole host of things—money included. Why? Because very few people have strong financial knowledge. There are so many ideas on what you should do, how to get out of debt, and where you should invest your money. All of this information can feel overwhelming and many people would just rather stick their head in the sand than think about. Telling your church what the Bible has to say is incredibly helpful and refreshing to them because it says more than "you should give to the church" What is more, most couples are fighting over money, and most people are lying in bed at night stressing over money. Talking about it hits them where they live and answers some of their most burning questions. Get Your Financial House in Order Many pastors don't talk about money because many pastors aren't generous and don't give. Generosity doesn't come easy for me but preaching on what the Bible has to say about money has led me to grow in it. If you don't preach about tithing in the Bible, generosity, or biblical stewardship, it's probably because you're not doing well in those areas, which will affect the life of your church. Generous leaders lead generous churches. Be honest with your struggles if you have them. Talk about what you have learned and how God is continuing to grow you. People will resonate with your vulnerability. Every time I talk about money, I'll hear people say over and over, "Thanks for being open about what is hard for you" Stewardship Is More than Money While most pastors preach on money to get more people to give money, that isn't the goal. The goal is to help people follow Jesus when it comes to stewardship, and that includes money, but also includes how they use their time, house, car, and retirement. Make sure that when you talk about stewardship in the Bible that you help people understand that God's heart is for more than their bank account, but also their calendar, relationships, and heart.

We see you set a goal to empower 10,000 women. Where did this desire spark from? “For women, in particular, there are a lot of barriers that exist that attempt to stop us from achieving in life and in our personal goals.” One barrier I had to overcome was domestic abuse. As a result of being in the relationship, I lost control of her finances. Every woman has a story where a door opened for them. My story was transitioning from Welfare to Warrior before I began winning at the game of work, life, and business! Before I could reach back and pay it forward to another woman she had to get cleanse the mind and get rid of the limited mindset of what I called Welfare. Once I got into a safe space where I was about to cope, position, and leverage life, things got better. I’m now winning! As a result, I made it my mission to help women from all walks of like get clear about their money story and to help them create winning money mindsets. I provide tools and strategies to create the kind of wealth that leaves a secure financial legacy.

This upcoming fall, I will kick off my #iCountCoins Movement to empower, educate and inspire 10,000 women globally.

Have you ever prepared a meal only to sit down at the table and realize you forgot something? Have you ever been in a hurry to reach a destination and in the haste, you leave your overnight bag in the trunk of the car, only to realize it once you have boarded the plane? The reality is that those moments are more frequent than we would like to admit. I remember long ago being in the kitchen preparing my mom’s famous homemade biscuits, my mouth salivated as the aroma of fresh bread baking filled the room. After waiting thirty-minutes, which seemed like forever, the biscuits were out of the oven. At first glance, I noticed that the biscuits appearance was slightly different from my mom however, that did not discourage me from immediately biting into them. It was then I discovered something horrible, not only was the appearance altered, the taste was not the best. I inadvertently left out a key ingredient which made my biscuits, not at all like my mom.

Oftentimes the key component to life’s answers are the simple missing ingredients. For me, my missing ingredient was studying techniques. Although I was praying and worshiping I still needed better studying moments for me to be at my best as a servant. Yes, I can forgive, love, pray, worship, mentor, counsel, teach BUT, if I am lacking the missing the ingredient I will never be at my best in the kingdom.

The Contemporary English Version Bible says, “Do your best to win God’s approval as a worker who doesn’t need to be ashamed and who teaches only the true message. 2 Timothy 2:15” So you see, me studying the word of God is first, because of my love relationship with Him and second, because I do not want HIM to be ashamed of me. Studying the word teaches me how to be confident, consistent and faithful in Jesus Christ. Each day I am hoping to gain better study techniques that will help me to be an asset, not a liability.

So today, I challenge you to find out if there are any missing ingredients in your life. If so, fill them up with positive things that will make an imprint on life. Perhaps you are the missing ingredient in someone’s life today or you need the missing ingredient, whatever the case is, do not let anything deter you. I pray this quote blesses you as it blessed me. “The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away” Find your missing ingredient and let’s change lives today!

True Story! A of couple weeks ago, I am scrolling through some movies to watch and came across, “Left Behind” with Nicholas Cage, and thought to give it a try. I had no idea what the movie was about, because all I cared about was watching something new! I had a lot on my mind that night, because the week before I just taught The Book of Jude, and next was The Book of Revelation. Putting together a teaching on The Book of Revelation seemed a haunting task, and something I didn’t want to do. It was my night off, and time to forget about this stuff! Not to long into the movie, I realized I was watching a portrayal of life for the unbelievers who would be “left behind” during the first part of Jesus Christ’s second coming. I never considered this perspective: the shock, the disappointment, and the loneliness they are going to feel being left behind. Watching this ignited my purpose, and I couldn’t wait to start working The Book of Revelation. The Book of Revelation is about the second coming of Jesus Christ. The first part of Christ’s second coming is recorded in I and II Thessalonians, the gathering of the Church of God. The dead in Christ will rise first, then we which are alive will have our bodies changed, meet the Lord in the air, and forever be with the Lord. II Thessalonians records “the man of sin” will be revealed after we depart, thus ushering in the events of the Book of Revelation and the wrath to come. The Born-again believers of the Church of God will not take part in the events of The Book of Revelation. We are saved from the wrath to come. Thank God! For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ. I Thessalonians 5:9 Being saved from the wrath to come as recorded in The Book of Revelation is one of the great benefits of becoming a born-again believer. Our judgment seat is called the “the bema” meaning awards stand, where we get awarded for our believing works in this day and time. The goal for all Christians is to receive a full reward at the bema! Winning and keeping awards for faithful Christian service in this day and time is going to be a big deal in the first part of the second coming Jesus Christ. All the events of the second coming of Christ as recorded in the Book of Revelation lead up to two big events: the resurrection and judgments of the just and of the unjust. Those who have committed the unforgivable sin, denying God in their hearts, will be in the resurrection of the unjust, and will suffer the second death. Those who are resurrected in the just will be judged according to their works. Then a new heaven and earth will begin where there will be no more death or pain. And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. Revelation 21:1-5 Being “left behind” in anything is a terrible feeling. When it comes to spiritual matters, the stakes couldn’t be higher, especially when considering the events of the second coming of Jesus Christ. If your unsaved, then get saved. If your saved, then get busy daily keeping and winning more awards for the judgment seat of “the bema.” Live each day as if Christ’s second coming is today! He’s coming back, and it’s our job to be ready!

Hello His Favor Magazine. My name is Pamala Mintz. I am a National Award-Winning Speaker, 4X-Author, & Radio Show Host

My book is unique because it is not a how to book for single women. It is a story about 4 women and their personal journey looking for a man. Sometimes, people need to be entertained to see where they are going wrong. Oh yes! Being an entrepreneur is not for the faint of heart. There are more no’s than yes’. There are not enough hours in the day to accomplish all your tasks. You work more as an entrepreneur than you would on a 9-5. The grind is REAL. You doubt yourself! You cry a lot. Then, you take a nap, encourage yourself and start all over again. My biggest challenge is my health. At the age of 45, I was diagnosed with advanced heart disease. At one point, I needed a heart transplant. Today, I am maintained through 11 different medications a day. I am often tired but I push myself to the maximum.

When readers finish reading my book, I want them to experience several different emotions … cry and laugh. Amazingly, my book is not just for women. There are men that have read my book and changed their approach towards women. One man mentioned he got rid of his girlfriend because the book showed him that she was using him. In the future, I plan to write one more book to close out this series. It will be a trilogy that will end with one of them getting married. I am also working on a tell-all book and a personal memoir. Currently, I am pursuing my PhD in Healthcare Leadership. I am determined, ambitious, courageous, straightforward, and generous. These adjectives describe me because I have faced a lot of adversities but it has not deterred me. It has actually strengthened me to go higher! I am also receiving an award from Women Business International on July 25th and I will be walking the runway in Dreamwalk Fashion Show in New York City in September 2019! 35

Greetings His Favor Readers! My name is Retta Timmons. I am the President and CEO of Imagine Me LLC, a business created to promote healing, confidence and a healthy lifestyle in women. What makes my book unique is that I am very transparent in releasing my story. So many of us that have been sexually abused and headed for destruction, seldom want to share our story, or we leave out bits and pieces. I provide the good, the shame, the guilt, the fear, and the comeback. I'm not proud of things that I've done, but I'm grateful to God for how strong and empowering He made me. After reading this heartwrenching and transparent piece, I want readers to feel like they can share anything about their past that holds them captive. I desire for them to be so hungry to become free from their past that they seek God out diligently. I want them to feel as if a 2 ton weight has been lifted off of their shoulders due to them not being alone in any situation they faced and they would wholeheartedly begin to seek counseling. I want them to know they can conquer anything that is put in front of them. I pray they feel so light before the guilt, shame, and fear is released so they have a taste of what a great life really feels like. Please understand that no matter what you have been through, “secrecy will kill you but transparency will heal you. You don't have to stay bound. Be the cycle breaker in your family so your legacy is greater than the enemy expected! I am also a certified life coach! The motivation for me becoming a life coach is that I've literally been a coach and a counselor since I can remember. From a very early age, strangers would talk to me about their problems, seeking suggestions as to how to handle them. I would listen and provide the wisdom in which they were seeking. What I did not understand at the time is that I was a vessel being used by God to provide wisdom to His children. I was so broken due to the trauma I endured as a child, I was unaware that God even used that for His good. My nieces wanted to go to my home after church and I never understood why. As I matured, I became inquisitive as to why. The response they provided was that no matter what they told me, they could trust me with it. I was always big on being loyal and providing a safe haven for those I connected with. I later realized I was a voice for the abused and broken. I always wanted to help other people and the quickest way was for me to become a life coach. The knowledge from the courses, along with the wisdom of God allowed me to help people on a different level. Becoming a counselor takes years and then you must pass the exam, but with the latest outpouring sexual assault victims, I needed something that would help in the present and not so far in the future. I love partnering with people to help them see the best in themselves and have a better understanding of who they authentically are and not the trauma they suffered. There are indeed other ventures that I would like to partake. Public speaking is among them. Speaking to inspire the broken, the rejected, those with low self-esteem that no matter what it looks like, there is an amazing life on the other side of all the hurt and pain. I'm also working on establishing two coaching practices. One will consist of working with the youth and the other strictly for adults. There are still thousands that have not come forth and I wish for them to know they are not alone. I'm also sure that other literature will be scribed but I'm not sure when. 36

Hello His Favor Magazine Readers! My name is Theresa Banks. At this moment, I’m going through one of the most focused and peaceful seasons I’ve experienced in a long while. As an author, I will admit, my first career choice was to be a teacher. My second was to program computers. Yet, I wound up in the computer field. This being said, my books are unique in the way they always offer a lesson to be learned. My readers are like my students, and I’m always willing to teach. Everyone’s journey through life is different. When an author shares their story (whether through poetry, fiction or non-fiction) they have the opportunity to connect with a reader. Taking them down a path that could extend their imagination, solve a problem or advise of pitfalls to avoid. The path they take the reader on is based on their personal and worldly experiences, that only they can relay. When I first started out, I didn’t know a thing about the publishing industry when I began writing my first manuscript. All I knew was that I wanted to write a book. Regardless of the number of internet searches performed, or YouTube videos watched, I still had tons of questions on how to become published. My motivation to assist others came from not wanting them to go through what I went through. My book entitled “Becoming a Published Author” includes details on manuscript preparation, traditional publishing, self- publishing and marketing/promoting. Anyone serious about becoming published should purchase this guide because it truly will assist them in the process. There are other ventures I would like to pursue in the near future because I truly love sharing knowledge. Before the end of this year, I plan on offering online “Becoming a Published Author” and “Surviving a Layoff” classes. Those interested should subscribe to my email list through my website to receive updates. I’m grateful to “His Favor Magazine” for including me in this issue. I hope every writer determined to become published will remain disciplined enough to accomplish their goal. Writers need to know publication is within their reach. They shouldn’t let it escape them.

His Favor Readers! First of all, let me say that I am wonderful, enjoying retirement (34 years of total service with the federal government as a mid-level and seniorlevel leader). These days I spend my time training, teaching, coaching and mentoring across the globe - both ministry and secular audiences. I am living my dream right now - preparing the current and next-generation for greatness through speaking, training, coaching and mentoring. I am in my lane!! I am the author of "Leadership With A Servant's Heart: Leading Through Personal Relationships" It offers insights into treating people that we lead with respect and tact. Too often we are solely focused on productivity and performance. I submit to my readers that high performance and productivity will happen if people are treated in a manner that they feel valued. After reading my book, I would like leaders to leave with new revelation and discernment on how to care and feed those that we lead. It makes a huge difference and I cite multiple examples throughout the nine chapters. My definition of "Sevant Leader" is a leader that is elevated into their position to "serve" others - not dictate, mandate and threaten.

His Favor Magazine! First, let me say thank you so much for this blessed, wonderful opportunity! I am doing very well. My name is Allison Daniels and I am an AwardWinning, 2X Bestselling Author, Entrepreneur, Speaker, Consultant, Coach and Publisher As an Author, I can’t say that this was a goal, desired accomplishment, or even a dream! However, I did have a constant desire and passion to write and as I listened, really listened to friends, to co-workers, family members – it motivated me to inspire and encourage others. As life went on and 31 books later and upcoming projects in the making, I see now that I was destined to become an accomplished writer. What makes my most recent book, "Walking In Your Authority" "unique" or standout from other books with similar themes/genre? is that I believe it’s writing deep from my heart. With this being an inspired passion, I see myself. I think of myself as the reader (to edify, to encourage and to motivate deep from within). I want others to make quality decisions, to persevere and continue to move forward in life toward victories and accomplishments in life. Ultimately, I would want readers to enjoy reading my books and gain knowledge and insight from the written Word. I believe that by me sharing my life experience with other women (and men from time to time – dependent upon which book) from all walks of life and continuing to make these books unique, they can see that I pour myself out in each chapter! I attempt to take the reader into a similar world, one that they can identify with. With that being said, I hope that these books will encourage and uplift readers on their life’s journey - that they have lived or living. From many discussions, I have learned that many have experienced a similar journey. Also, I hope that readers will share my stories with their friends and loved ones once they have finished reading my books.

Tell us what makes this book different from your other novels?

I had novels published before A Spiral Into Marvelous Light through other publishers. These other works tend to be more violent and action adventure-focused. A Spiral Into Marvelous Light is more centered on drama, emotion, the historical, and the intellectual. Another major difference is the personal aspect. I put a lot of my own experiences as a journalist into this story. Also, my home state, Virginia, is the main setting and my home town of Alexandria has a couple of scenes.

How do you want readers to feel when they are finished reading your work? Inspired. I hope readers get a

sense of how faith, especially Christian faith, can influence a person and, from there, the world around them. I hope that any readers who are secular or who do not understand how faith can shape an individual’s life will better understand that at the end. I also hope it leads people to be more understanding and civil towards one another when they encounter ideological differences.

How did you come up with such a unique title (A Spiral Into Marvelous Light)? It is very intriguing. The

big inspiration was biblical, as the title is a reference to 1st Peter 2:9, “you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, to proclaim the virtues of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.” I was also drawn to this idea of an-ever rising upward movement towards the Kingdom of God. As one classic hymn puts, “changed from glory into glory, till with Thee we take our place. Till we cast our crowns before Thee, lost in wonder, love, and praise.” In fact, I came up with the title sometime before I came up with the plot. The phrase struck me as a way to describe my overall literary efforts and the beliefs that led me to use the written word to change the world.

When did you first realize that you wanted to be a writer? I began to write in my free time back in November

of 2001, when I was a student at Minnie Howard, the ninth grade campus of T.C. Williams High School. This came from the fallout from the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Following the tragedy, I was inspired to see people come together, to see the increase in church attendance, to see more classmates saying the Pledge of Allegiance. And it was a downer to see these trends reverse course within a couple of months. The whole cycle gave me a need to make the world a better place. To serve God and man through literature. And those terrorist attacks reminded me that even if I kept my beliefs to myself, someone out there would still hate my guts enough to want me dead.

Are there any other ventures you would like to pursue in the near future? I continue to write various things. As a

journalist, I regularly write and have news articles published. As a novelist, I continue to write up manuscripts. I expect at least two more books to be released later this year through other publishers. I also have been trying to make it in the genre of sacred music. I have written up a handful of hymns, a couple of which have been performed in a few churches in Virginia. 40

Hello Everyone! My name is Teresa B. Howell I'm blessed and highly favored. So many doors have opened from my books and I am so very grateful for every opportunity. My books talk about the reality of domestic violence in the church. It focuses on an individual who is a generational preacher and is destined to take the torch of ministry. This is a subject that isn't discussed openly and his hidden in the church. The stories setting take place in a part of the south known as the bible belt. The main character struggles to deal with traditional religion, reality, and mental illness. Although the books take on a serious subject there are some characters in each book that every Christian can relate to or compare to members within their church. I want readers to feel inspired to help individuals with domestic violence or to seek help if they are hiding under the mask of religion while dealing with domestic violence. From these books, readers began to state that they could visualize the characters on screen. That sparked several conversations and ideas with playwrights and film makers. I decided to take it down the road for playwright first before film in order to build my brand and obtain a fan base. This has not been an easy journey. There were times where I wanted to give up as a writer. Writing is never an easy task. Although I have been told that I am gifted in the area, it still took a great deal of time and sleepless nights to perfect each story. Characters don't seem to allow the writer to sleep at times. Aside from all that I am doing, I would definitely like to venture out into a web series or film for this project. I think it would be easy to bring it to film after gaining the stage experience. Finally, I want everyone to know that although someone may be going through the same issues as the individuals in my books, they can still overcome if they only believe and have faith in the Almighty. Over comers never quit an quitters never overcome. www.teresabhowell.com

Author T. L. Adams If you are not successful when it comes to finding a mate if you keep attracting the wrong ones, and if you find something wrong with every person you date then my book is just for you. The name of my book is Get Rid of My Stupid List: Seven Reasons You are Successful and Still Single. I would say that a couple of things makes my book unique and they are: To name a few, I use my life story to share my pain, share my struggles, educate, and help others make better choices when it comes to dating and relationships. I have made a lot of bad decisions and I am not afraid to speak on those things. When it comes to speaking your truth, a lot of people shy away from exposing anything negative about themselves; I, on the other hand, embrace it. If my mistakes can help other women and men make better choices when it comes to choosing someone, then I have served my purpose. My Stupid List was created not long after I was divorced. I did not want to make the same mistake twice. So, I thought if I had someone educated, had a good job, a good-looking guy, someone who has his own everything then I would be happy, money wouldn’t be an issue and they would come to the table with the same thing I did. I realized probably five years into my dating life that I kept making the same mistakes repeatedly but expecting different results. That is the definition of insanity! I blamed guys as the reason why I was still single. I was trying to figure why was I still single? I am beautiful, successful, educated, but, yet and still I was not able to keep a man around for an extended period.

As for me, I have been divorced for 9 years and I have a 12 and 13-year-old. The hardest thing I could ever do was start over. I used to hear when I was younger and when I was pursuing my Counseling degree that going through a divorce is like experiencing a death. I can attest to that. When I went through my divorce, I felt like a part of me died on that day. I went through mourning and depression as if someone close to me died for years. No one knew! I hide it very well. I would say the best thing anything anyone can do when you are trying to cope with life after a divorce is to seek therapy and/or seek pastoral counseling. I did not have anyone to share my fears with, my struggles, my frustrations, and my failures with and that did affect me a lot. A lot of times we do not want people to know that we are hurting, that we are in pain, that we might need a hug, that we need an encouraging word because we put on the persona nothing bothers us. It is time out for that; it is time that we are completely honest with ourselves and those around us. Sometimes because we experience a failed marriage, we carry guilt, shame, and regret with us. I am here to encourage you to no longer carry that weight of shame, guilt and regret with you any longer. It took me years not to do that! The only thing you can do moving forward is to learn from it, live your life, and be happy. Don’t rush to get in another relationship; take this time to evaluate, reflect, and heal!

It was not until I evaluated myself, evaluated my choices, and realized that I had to make some changes so I could be successful when it comes to relationships. My self-evaluation included me taking responsibility for my bad choices and I realized that guys were not the blame for my singleness. I was! The only person I could blame is myself. I had a lot of potential guys that wanted to date me, be in a relationship with me, and marry me but I did not give them a chance. I was looking for Mr. Perfect, but I realized years later that Mr. Perfect does not exist. At the end of the book, I put a Relationship Commitment Contract to help readers self-reflect, evaluate their decisions, declare their worth and value, and to show them the importance of self- love. Until you truly love yourself you are not able to accept the love from others. After reading my book you will feel the need to make any necessary changes in your life to get the results you want. The definition of insanity is making the same decisions over and over again expecting a different result. If you want something you never had, you have got to do something you never did! In order for me to now say that I have success when it comes to dating and being in relationships, I understood the power of change. It takes over 60 days to change a habit. This process of change and self-evaluation is not easy. It is simple, what are you doing differently to get the results that you want when it comes to choosing a mate. If you are not willing to see that you are not perfect and that change is needed in order for you to grow; you will forever be stuck and will continue complaining about your single status.

I would like to share with those Christians that are having a hard time coping with life after a divorce a couple of things: I realized a long time ago that no matter how many times I get it wrong when it comes to relationships; there is always time to get it right. I will not Take the Risk on Love because of what happened in my past. I want the woman who just walked away from her husband or the man who walked away from his woman to understand that, it is not the end of the world. God has not forgotten about you! You still have a purpose and You are not alone! The person that God has hand-picked just for you is out there! Never Give Up on Love because of your experiences! www.authortladams.com 42

HFM: I read that your wife supports you and your ministry. How important is it for a spouse to be supportive of one's dreams and/or calling? KD: IT'S EVERYTHING. I DON'T CARE IF YOU HAVE JUST WON A GRAMMY AND THE WHOLE WORLD IS CELEBRATING YOU. IF YOU COME HOME AND DON'T FEEL THAT WARMTH AND EXCITEMENT FROM WITHIN THOSE FOUR WALLS, IT CAN BE A SAD PLACE TO BE. IT FEELS GOOD WHEN YOUR OTHER HALF IS RIGHT THERE WITH YOU, CHEERING YOU FORWARD, PRAYING WITH AND FOR YOU; CHALLENGING YOU TO GET BETTER IN CERTAIN AREAS AND CELEBRATING YOU IN OTHERS. NO OTHER APPLAUSE MEANS MORE TO ME THAN HERS. IT IS FUEL.
