SIDNEY LANIER COTTAGE AND HISTORIC MACON TO HOST ANNUAL COTTAGE CHRISTMAS & BAKE SALE MACON, Ga. — The sweetest holiday tradition in Macon is quickly approaching. In the 1970s, the Middle Georgia Historical Society began selling baked goods at the Sidney Lanier Cottage during the holidays. Historic Macon Foundation has kept this tradition alive and will host Cottage Christmas on Friday, Dec. 14 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cottage Christmas is a complimentary open house showcasing the Sidney Lanier Cottage decorated for the holiday season. Baked goods will be for sale throughout the day while free admission is offered to the Cottage. Free refreshments will be served, and the Side Porch Gift Shop will have a holiday sale. A book signing will also take place during this year’s Cottage Christmas. Authors will include Ed Grisamore, “There is More than One Way to Spell Wiener,” Marie Amerson, “Remembering Len Berg's Restaurant” and Sandy Page, “Pyramid of the Lost World.” All bake sale items are homemade and donated by friends and supporters of Historic Macon and the Sidney Lanier Cottage. The bake sale includes everything from holiday casseroles and cheese straws to a variety of cakes and candy. The Sidney Lanier Cottage is located at 935 High St. Call (478) 742-5084 for more information.
